Imagine waking up to singing birds, watching deer at dusk, smores around a campfire and gazing at a million stars surrounded by family or friends. Watch the game on a big screen TV, gather in the spacious kitchen to make dinner together, enjoy coffee on the patio watching the dawn break through the trees. This is life at the Restful Retreat, a place close by, yet away from it all. Back in the woods, you can pretend the world outside doesn't exist. An authentic log cabin awaits you. Quarter-sawn oak wood floors bring the outside in, while the stone fireplace and mantel house a convenient gas fireplace. Each room is individually appointed to share our collection of wildlife art and furnishings. Each bedroom has an individual electric fireplace for colder evenings, or just to add a warm ambience to your experience. The brass rainfall shower in the second bathroom can bring you to life, or give you that peaceful feeling before retiring. A living room and two sitting areas gives your group plenty of space to chat or cuddle up with that really good book you've been meaning to read. Come as you are and leave recharged by nature.

Great, clean cabin with lots of space. The little heaters in each room really warmed things up on the cool nights. The host was awesome to work with. No complaints!
We loved the cabin! If we go for a family vacation near Grantsburg again we will definetly try to stay there again. It is a beautiful property, beautifully decorated cabin and our host was great. We basically just slept there for this trip.

The living room, dining area and kitchen were spacious. Two good sized bedrooms on main floor and two decent sized bedrooms in the basement. There’s also a full bath on main floor and a 3/4 bath in the basement. A lovely cabin in a neat setting.
Would definitely recommend - peaceful, quiet, nestled in beautiful woods. Host accommodating and timely to respond. Loved the outdoor firepit.

There was a strong propane smell in the house when we arrived. We waited outside for 3 hours while that was resolved. the owner contacted the propane company and a repairman came. Off to a bad start. We had to clean the oven before we could use it and in the cabin rules it stated you could be charged $100.00 if the oven was left dirty! The cabin itself was clean, comfortable and private. We did enjoy the quiet and had a nice fire outside our first evening there. The mosquitos got fierce as the sun went down.
The kids and the adults had a lot of fun at the cabin. There was plenty of room and games inside to keep us entertained while it rained. We had everything we needed and the stay was smooth.
This cabin was perfect for our adult NYE weekend getaway. The kitchen provided all amenities and was well stocked with what we needed for cooking. Each room has a heater and fan so you can adjust the temp to your liking. Property manager was very attentive and quick to respond to our questions. Ceilings are short so if you are 6’2” or taller you will need to duck by light fixtures. We would definitely go back!
We enjoyed a quick weekend stay! The place was clean & cozy. The owner is quick to respond to messages & accommodated our requests. Comfortable living room furnishings. We appreciated the working gas grill, well stocked kitchen with extra refrigerator, washer/dryer, A/C units & fans, lots of games, plenty of towels, cleaning supplies, etc.! A nice fire pit was stocked with wood for an evening fire. We would stay again, thank you!

About the host

I've always wanted a place to get away, unwind, away from the world. I had just about given up when I saw this listing. I figured I'd look one last time and then give up my dream. I turned on a road by an empty pasture, and then my heart started beating faster as we entered the winding woods. As we emerged, there it was my gem in the woods! A log cabin set on a hill, with a fireplace, a big homey kitchen and tranquility all around. I had found my piece of heaven on earth.
Why they chose this property
Secluded, tucked away in the woods where no one can see you. Surrounded by towering pine trees and wildlife. Listen for wild turkeys that sometimes come to visit, see how many different birds you can find. Leave some corn out for the deer that magically appear at twilight. Perhaps a bear will amble by.
What makes this property unique
Privacy, wildlife watching, full kitchen and lots of spaces to relax, unwind, chill out or play outside.
