About the host
Hosted by Dani Bennett
Hi, I’m Dani! I was born and raised in and around the Twin Cities, and I’ve dreamed of having a cabin of my own my whole life. I love the outdoors—swimming, fishing, agate hunting, and playing hockey! I enjoy hosting because it gives others the chance to experience this beautiful space the way we do. Life moves so fast, and it’s a joy to provide a place where guests can slow down, relax, and enjoy peace, quiet, nature, family, and friends.
Why they chose this property
I chose Pine City because it perfectly combines the feeling of being “up north” with the convenience of being just outside the Twin Cities. With its rivers, lakes, and forests, this area has always drawn me in as a place to slow down and reconnect with nature. Our cabin sits on 100 feet of private shoreline along the Snake River, with nearby public access to Cross Lake and Pokegama Lake for boating, fishing, and paddling. Just down the road, Chengwatana State Forest offers over 1,000 miles of trails for ATVs, snowmobiles, and hiking—making this location an outdoor playground in every season.
The name “Guinness’s Getaway” is deeply personal. Guinness was my beloved Irish Terrier and constant companion, and this cabin is dedicated to him. Just as he brought joy, loyalty, and comfort to my life, I hope this space brings guests that same sense of warmth and belonging. To me, the neighborhood isn’t just about the scenery—it’s about the memories made here, the peaceful mornings by the water, and the adventures waiting just beyond the porch.
What makes this property unique
The most unique feature of our cabin is the full screened-in porch that spans the entire back of the home, overlooking the Snake River. It’s truly the heart of the property—we spend nearly every moment there when we visit. From playing cards and crafting to sharing meals, the porch becomes a gathering place in every season. On warm summer afternoons, crisp fall mornings with the heater running, or even during a gentle rain shower, there’s a sense of peace and serenity here that’s hard to put into words.
Beyond the porch, the cabin offers 100 feet of private riverfront where you can fish, kayak, or simply relax by the water’s edge. The Snake River connects to both Cross Lake and Pokegama Lake, and with nearby public water access, you can easily launch your boat and explore miles of beautiful shoreline.
Evenings bring their own magic—whether you’re gathered around the firepit under the stars, roasting marshmallows with family, or just listening to the water flow by. For adventure seekers, the Chengwatana State Forest trail system is just down the road, offering over 1,000 miles of trails for snowmobiles and 16 miles for ATVs & dirt bikes. In winter, the area transforms into a playground for ice fishing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling.
It’s the combination of the peaceful riverside setting, the porch that draws everyone together, and the year-round activities just outside the door that makes Guinness’s Getaway so special. Whether you’re here to slow down and reconnect, or to pack your days with outdoor fun, this cabin offers the best of both worlds.
