Potential
The neighborhood was very calm, welcoming, and quiet. We noticed many sociable and friendly dogs and cats walking around interacting with each other and some of the neighbors. It’s not as bad of an area as others reviewed but it is an observant community that ensures the safety and wellbeing of all who live there. Upon walking in, the unit is very aesthetically pleasing and minimalist in design, but there is much needed work to be done for the property to give what it visually looks like. There are questionable stains on the couch cushions and on the bed frame and mattress in the master bedroom. The couch cushions could easily be resolved with a cleaning or the temporary fix of $5 couch covers on Amazon to at least be presentable and welcoming and comfortable to sit down. The bed frame in the master bedroom was scary to look at. It’s upholstered which I find horrid if not cleaned regularly which this one wasn’t. The headboard was covered in hair from previous guests, there were debris particles, and this orange ish stain that I still can’t figure out what that was on the frame near headboard. Which whatever it was was also on the mattress. I noticed this all during my standard check for bed bugs. Which fortunately there were none. But in checking for bed bugs I noticed the sheets were filthy. Each layer I pulled back there was more dust, more hair, more random pieces of debris as if they hadn’t been changed in weeks. Nightmarish. The pillows also had bright orange stains(???

Clean but rough neighborhood
The pictures are exactly as the home is.The home was clean as I was concerned about the December reviews but we had no issues there. The neighborhood is rough. Looks like it is in transition of being cleaned up but it is very rough - boarded up homes, bars on windows, iron fences in front yards, etc. But we had no issues there. We came during a very cold spell for Houston and they did a great job with buying space heaters so we could plug in to each room of the home to help the temperature stay up. Issues and room for improvement: Master room - closet is locked, assuming for their supplies, no place to put clothes but on the floor. Master bath - no hand towels, no wash cloths. We had to go buy them. The glass shower door looks new, needs adjusted as was very hard to open/close. Front bedroom - for some reason this room gets all of the heat and we couldn't close the vent. They had to sleep on the living room floor. Other front bedroom - had no issues. Second bath - no hooks for towels. Not enough wash cloths/hand towels. Had to buy them. Toilet needs bolted down. Living room - the couch arms are still broke. The house is advertised to sleep 10 but there are just the 3 couch seats for sitting. Dining area - table holds 6. Kitchen - for advertising for 10, a regular size coffee pot would be fantastic. Found 1 towel. Had to go buy one. Upstairs - no place to put clothes but use the other bed. No curtain on the windows. Since no dressers, need more hangers in the front rooms.

cute house, but nothing to write home about
had to track the owner down to get an entry code. we showed up right at check-in time and waiting on the front porch for several minutes. kinda makes you nervous. you feel forgotten about. the neighborhood felt shady when we drove up, but come to find out it is on the up and up. houses are being flipped, renovated, and improved. we met some neighbors and they were a cool family. the location is very close to downtown and some very neat things. i'd stay here again, but expectations need to be tempered. the house is an obvious flip house. everything is new(ish) feeling and looking. however, it is not put together very well. the couch feels like it has bolts that are hand tightened. it is almost like whoever put everything together didn't have any tools and hand tightened everything. however, the beds were comfortable and the pillows are new feeling. the design of the whole place is very modern and neat. major things that need attention: - front door is jammed - master shower door is not aligned, feels like you'll break it opening the shower - dishwasher isn't screwed in the cabinet - dishwasher top rack comes off the rails - some flooring popping up - smoke detectors hanging by wire the kitchen is stocked with cookware and new appliances if that is important to you. the house will sleep 8, but the dining table only has room for 6.

Poorly managed
I booked a house with the host house on November 6 for a 4 bedroom 2 bath home that could sleep up to 20. I got and instant booking notice and I also got the confirmation a couple of days before. Of course I did not message the host yet because it was two days out. I messaged the host two hours before our arrival only to be informed that they had double booked the property in another platform. I started to look for hotels. They offered another property that was half the size. They intended to charge me the same price but I asked for a partial refund. They did grant that but not without my asking. We arrived and the place had a musty odor. It looked clean but the smell was weird. We had to open windows in every room. There was a crack in the toilet and one of the light switches in the bathroom was broken. I was worried those things would get pinned on us. We needed up taking the place because we were literally two hours out. Some of the staff had to sleep in the floor because there was no where to put them. The one positive is that the host did text me and communicate. I’m very disappointed in my experience and I am not sure I will book with VRBO
