The Space
There is a queen bedroom and a twin bedroom downstairs and a closed-in sun porch with a door, double bed, and blinds all around for privacy. Upstairs there is a queen bedroom with a seating area and wood stove, and a kids bedroom with two bunk beds. Two full bathrooms, one brand new with lovely soaking tub for after beach relaxation or washing up sandy kids.
The Area
Welcome to wine country! Quick access to Wolfville and Acadia University is only 20 minutes away. Visit the plethora of wineries, cideries, breweries, and distilleries nearby. Enjoy the excellent farmer's market on Saturday mornings and find locally made crafts, organic vegetables, meats, baked goods, and prepared foods. Walk around the quaint village of Wolfville for unique shops, cosy patios, and high quality restaurants. Check out the look off for an amazing view of the valley (and for an ice cream!) or head to Hall's Harbour for the freshest lobster you've ever tasted. Tons of adventures to be had right near by.
The Beach
Kingsport Beach is just a 5 minute walk down the street. Walk as long as you want on the bottom of the ocean at low tide to see amazing formations in the red sand. Find crabs and hermit crabs. And see if the cows are grazing oceanside. So much to explore and so many secret spots to discover. At high tide, explore via canoe and cliff jump into the ocean. Make sure to check your location first at low tide to ensure your safety. Then grab an ice cream at the wharf and enjoy the views.

Excellent location for us to explore Nova Scotia. A quiet beautiful setting if you choose to relax for the day. Minas Basin is close by and a great spot to watch the tide. Our host was very quick to respond and helpful with recommendations.
This is an excellent location for a family visit to a lovely area of NS. Ideal for young kids, with a small beach, an ice cream stand and a community playground. Adults will enjoy the local vineyards and the opportunity to do some biking on safe roads with very respectful local drivers (and not many of them at that if you choose the right roads).
This is a charming house with the practicality of two bedrooms and a bath on each of two floors. The grounds are extensive and beautiful (grape arbor, hammock, nice deck). It was a perfect place for us. The nearby area is wonderful to visit - lots of beautiful scenery and nice restaurants nearby, too.
We stayed at Rose cottage with family and friends for the week of our wedding and it was the perfect spot for relaxation between events. The hosts were highly responsive and kindly left us a welcome gift! The location is truly paradise and I would definitely return.
We were visiting with family who reside in Kingsport and this property was perfect and convenient for our needs. The home was roomy and the beds comfortable. Althena responded promptly to all our queries. Recommend this property for family vacations and will definitely rent from Althena again.
We had a wonderful time as family at Rose Cottage, we wish we could have stayed longer. The owners were available throughout our stay to help us make the most of it and answer any questions we had. The place was very comfortable and warm! We would return without hesitation!
The setting and remodelled farm house were idyllic. Beautifully-treed grounds with many plants that could only grow in the Annapolis Valley. Many comfy places to sit, read, visit and eat, inside and out.
We had a wonderful short time at Rose Cottage, the cottage decor was lovely and the grounds were very inviting. We intended to visit the Grand Pre and Evangeline area, and took in the scenes at low tide and the beautiful dunes. Thank you, Athena and Chuck!
We rented this rustic countryside cottage for a family getaway and absolutely loved it! The space was clean, comfortable, and peaceful, filled with beautiful natural light. It was the perfect home base for exploring the region. The host went above and beyond—welcoming, responsive, and full of great local tips. A guest guidebook with clear instructions and area highlights made settling in and planning our days effortless. Some of our favorite moments were sipping coffee on the sun porch, relaxing on the large deck, and taking advantage of the many seating areas throughout the property. The cottage is also well-situated—close to groceries and charming shops, yet surrounded by excellent wineries and restaurants.A wonderful spot for a relaxing and memorable stay!
Enjoyed as pleasant location, lovely garden and trees. Great access to Fundy areas. Cosy and warm in main living areas thanks to efficient easy to use log burning stove and log store. Double bedrooms - good beds. Fridge, washer and dryer - excellent in useful mud room. Limited working space in kitchen for food prep. Main shower is fine and other bathroom useful and safe toilet/basin. The unusual Sinto Japanese bathing area is limiting due to safe access. Athena helpful and responsive.

We’re sorry your stay didn’t meet your expectations, however we’ve recently completely renovated the upstairs bathroom and all of the rooms are accurately displayed in the photos. The cottage is over 80 years old so definitely has it quirks but we receive a lot of positive feedback from other guests who find it unique, cozy and focused on the beautiful natural surroundings. You mentioned that you encountered insects. You may not be aware that Nova Scotia has experienced more than usual due to the damp summer. Our cleaning staff diligently cleans after every booking, but the occasional insect is almost impossible to avoid. The cottage is in a rural area so may not be right for everyone. That being said, we always welcome constructive feedback and suggestions from guests.
Lots of space for a large family (we have 6 kids ages 17 to 4), even on the hottest days the place stayed relatively cool in every room. Very close to the ocean too!Awesome how close we are (20 mins) from every necessity we needed if we needed it. Quiet and peaceful area, and incredibly beautiful property, even being close to other properties it was still so quiet and peaceful. One of the cleanest and most beautiful places we have ever stayed as well. Had everything we needed when it came to cooking, laundry, showering, etc. Owners very informative and respond quickly, had great knowledge of cottages history which was super cool! Absoluetly affordable for families who arent necessarily well off but needed the vacation desperately. This place should definitely should be your top choice!
The Rose Cottage is a beautiful, cozy place with a ton of character. So much so that we took a bunch of our wedding photos there! The outdoor space is just as nice as the indoors, and the surrounding area is spectacular. The hosts were great at informing on all the secret and local spots to hit up. Longspell farm across the road and Oakview Farm just down the road are so close and great spots for eggs, produce, and sausage! If you can time your stay with an Oakview strawberry or peach U-pick you're in for a treat. All the amenities, spacious, two showers - made getting ready a breeze. Hosts are very on top of things. 10/10!
