Take the road less traveled. A short distance on a winding, dirt road through the woods will take you to this quiet, secluded destination. This little get-away is nestled in the heart of the woods, yet is only 10 miles from West Glacier, Montana - the entrance to Glacier National Park.
The Flathead River here in northwest Montana is designated as a “Wild and Scenic River” and includes the North Fork, Middle Fork and South Fork - the names of the three vacation units available in this triplex cabin. With three private units, this is a great option for group travelers wanting to be together and yet still have their own space, or can be utilized singularly and privately. There are two 6” thick walls and two dead-bolting doors separating each unit.
With the quiet woods all around, this is a great place to unwind and settle in.

Great area, well situated near the park with amazing opportunity to stargaze. The checkin was a bit confusing as I don’t normally check my email and go to the VRBO for checkin instructions but we figured it out pretty quickly.
No complaints whatsoever. There are 2 attached units on each side but had no noise or any related issues with them. Located about midway between Columbia falls and the park so great location but way off the main roads.
Wonderful Family Location for Accessing Glacier National Park!
This was a perfect home base for our family of four during our visit Glacier National Park. Half way between the West Glacier entrance and food offerings in Columbia Falls made for an ideal location. The property was spotless and we had no noise issue with the separate rentals on either side (shared wall). Kitchen was well equipped. Of note: adults and tweens had to crawl to move around the lofted second sleeping area. Our kids thought it was fun, but I feel like the lowness of the ceiling is important to fully appreciate!

Middle Fork of Bear Retreat was one of the best places our family of four has ever stayed. They have thought of every little touch! The space was very large and gave us plenty of room. The bedding and towels were superb, comfy couch and sitting area. A large table from which to eat - a brand new spice rack for our use and beverages for our enjoyment in the fridge. The master bedroom had a massive and very comfortable bed. There was a washer and dryer available if needed with laundry soap as well. There were so many little touches that made it special. We really appreciate the thoughtfulness that went in to making this place a home away from home.
Communication with the host was great. There was easy parking out front and a very clean grill for our use as well.
I highly recommend this place if you are looking for something quiet, clean, big and very well cared for. We really enjoyed our time. Thank you!
The trees out the back were amazing!
Loved it John!
Loved the tea and coffee and spices!
The location to the GNP was perfect! got there 8:00 am and no line to get in but parking near visitor center was full near Logan Hike.
We really enjoyed our summer stay at this property. The location is convenient to the west entrance of Glacier National Park, and also to grocery stores and shopping around Columbia Falls. And yet, the house is secluded in the woods and you feel off the beaten path. The house itself was very clean and comfortable, had what we needed for making meals, and has a little covered patio facing the woods to relax outside. John was great with communication - we'd love to come back here someday.
Location is perfect for those wanting the quiet peace of the woods nearby. House was very well maintained and clean. Ample space and kids enjoyed the “change of pace” low ceiling loft space.
We were pleased with our stay. The owners lived on the property in an adjacent building and were very pleasant and helped us with trash pickup.
Everything was clean and comfortable, and the place felt very new. Our kids, ages 8 and 12, loved the upstairs loft with its low ceilings.
We were about 20 minutes to the Glacier NP Apgar Visitor Center, which is in the Southwest corner of the park.
Although the apartment had a large closet in the main bedroom, there wasn't a hanging bar for clothes yet. I'm sure this is on the owner's to-do list, as the unit was brand new at the time of our visit.
There was also only one TV in the living room. I'm not sure if that will later be adjusted but it would be nice if the master bedroom had at least a small Roku TV for streaming. Also, there were no lamps yet in the master bedroom.
The kitchen was well equipped but there wasn't a dishwasher.
Other than these very minor items, the place was really great. I would recommend to anyone travelling to Glacier NP.
We stayed in the larger center unit and had renters on either side. This posed no issues for us, though and our unit was a nice surprise as it was very spacious and clean. We didn’t do any cooking, but the kitchen had all the essentials and then some. About 20 minutes into town, but would def stay again. Sunflower cafe was also a nice surprise- inside Glacier campground (limited hours/days, but great breakfast and lunch).
