Always Channel-On Muskegon Channel, walk to lighthouse, beach, the DECK & swim.
Always Channel – Life on the Water, All Year Long
Wake up to sunrises over Muskegon Lake and watch boats and freighters pass by right out front at Always Channel—your waterfront surf shack on the Muskegon Channel. This 2-bedroom, 2-bath home sleeps up to 8 and offers a rare front-row seat to one of Muskegon’s most unique spots, all just a short 10-minute walk to Pere Marquette Beach, the lighthouse, and pier.
Life here naturally centers around the water. Mornings start slow with coffee on the front patio, afternoons are spent watching boats drift by or heading to the beach, and evenings wind down around the firepit as the sky changes over the channel.
The backyard is set up for easy, memorable time together, with a grill, outdoor bar, and space to relax under the lights—perfect for summer cookouts or cozy winter nights. Inside, the open layout brings everyone together, with a comfortable living room, fully equipped kitchen, and dining area designed for gathering.
The primary bedroom features two queen beds and its own private bath, while the second bedroom offers two twin beds with another full bath nearby. A sleeper sofa in the living room adds extra space, making it a great fit for families or groups traveling together.
We’ve tried to make your stay as easy as possible. Bikes, beach toys, a wagon, chairs, umbrella, and baby gear are all provided. And because we know pets are part of the family, up to two dogs are welcome with no pet fee—and the fenced yard gives them room to enjoy it too.
Whether you're here for a summer beach trip, a fall getaway, a quiet winter escape, or a spring weekend by the water, this is a place to slow down, settle in, and enjoy Muskegon in every season.
A Little Backstory
For nearly 18 years, we drove past this little house on the channel and dreamed about what it could be. We never saw anyone there, but it always felt like it was waiting. One day, we got the chance—and turned it into the surf shack you’re now enjoying.

thank you for loving our place. you are right it is is a great place and yes a 10/10 stars..
Great property with all the amenities you could possibly think of. Host had thought of everything as far as supplies and extras. Only note would be the beds were fairly uncomfortable but everything else more than made up for it. One of the best stays I've had with Vrbo and will definately be back.
"Perfectly Peaceful Getaway on the Muskegon Channel"
I had an amazing stay at this beautiful house on the Muskegon Channel! The peaceful location offered stunning views, and the home itself was cozy, clean, and well-equipped. It was the perfect spot to relax and unwind. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a serene getaway!
Very comfortable and homey vacation rental . Pleasantly surprised by the well supplied kitchen and bathrooms. The host thought of all the details to wow the guest during their stay.
Our stay was fantastic. The home is beautifully decorated, and so cleaned, our views of watching the boats go by in the channel was relaxing . We enjoyed everything about this place. I highly recommend this beautiful place.

This home is just beautiful and the location can't be beat! There was everything that we needed and more. We were just really impressed and had a wonderful time! Loved watching the boats go up and down the channel.Thank you for everything! The Narhi's
This is the second time I stayed in this VRBO. There were 3 of us and we all agreed this is a wonderful property. It is warm and cozy and inviting. There are many amenities that make it nice such as a well stocked kitchen. We had family over for dinner and while we brought mostof what we needed to cook, it was nice that there were some spices available that we didn’t bring. The location is terrific. We walked the channel and the beach. I recommend this VRBO and give it a 5 star rating.
This was the best appointed rental I have stayed at. They thought of everything you can possibly need. Location is great with a walking trail out front and good view. Towels are super soft. Have good shampoo products. Racks to hold luggage. Great coffee station. Beautifully decorated. Literally, can't find any won't of i tried.

As off season did a short stay to visit family and friends. So much better than a hotel and the view of the channel is wonderful. The house is newly redone and has all the perfect amenities. The kitchen is better stocked then a Homegoods store.

thank for staying and yes the weather was uncommonly cool. come back if you are ever in the area.. The Channel house is a place where you can just sit with nothing to do and still have a great time..
This house right on the channel is charming and comfortable! It was very clean and well-stocked with anything you can think of. The front patio was lovely for watching ships and boats of all sizes. We appreciated the fenced in yard for our two medium-sized dogs.
This property not only has a lovely location, but was absolutely perfect! From the great layout with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths to the spacious open kitchen/living area our stay was so comfortable! We have stayed in many vacation rentals and this one is tops! So much detail to amenities… bring your clothes and you are set! Highly recommend!
This place is perfect. You can basically just bring your own food, because they seem to have provided everything else. Every toiletry you can think of is there if you forget to pack something. The kitchen has everything you would have at your own home. Top to bottom, the home is spotless inside and out. The location is terrific, providing a view of the all-day daily parade of boats going back and forth through the channel. If you have the opportunity to rent this house, don't hesitate!

Please do we have a few days available. However September and October are great too.
The house was amazing! The location is on a quiet dead-end road and right along the channel so you see lots of boats coming and going which was fun to watch. It is a quick walk to the beach and The Deck restaurant so you don’t have to worry about parking or traffic. The availability of having bikes and a wagon for use was nice. The house was well stocked, including items you may forget to pack (floss, toothpaste, soap, etc), it was very clean and comfortable and we would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful home in an amazing location! The attention to details was impressive and made our stay comfortable and easy. The house is on a channel, with Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan within walking distance. So many great parks, hiking trails and restaurants nearby! We brought our labs Maggie and Henry and we appreciated the convenience of the fenced yard. Amazing experience, wonderful and cozy home!

About the host
Hosted by Brenda Harris
I love being a host because it allows me to bring each home to life and share the character of the community I live in. Being local, I have a deep connection to these homes and the Muskegon area. My goal is to create spaces where guests can truly relax and feel at home, whether they’re visiting for adventure, rest, or time together. Every home is designed with comfort, warmth, and a sense of belonging in mind.
Why they chose this property
This home has been a dream of ours for more than 17 years. My husband and I used to pass by it on our boat, admiring it from the water and imagining what it might be like to one day call it our own. When the opportunity finally came, we knew it was something truly special.
Today, this home reflects that long-held dream—thoughtfully cared for, full of light, and meant to be enjoyed on the water. Every detail was chosen with pride and intention, and our hope is that when you stay here, you feel the same sense of ease, joy, and appreciation for this place that we do every time we arrive
What makes this property unique
This home has long been a favorite along the channel. Boaters often pass by and point it out, recognizing it as one of those places that simply stands out. There’s something special about its setting, its presence on the water, and the way it invites you to slow down and enjoy where you are. Now, you get to experience it for yourself—right on the channel, surrounded by views, movement, and a sense of being exactly where you want to be.
