Paradise

Our trip was amazing. The ocean is your backyard, we saw manatees, nurse sharks, dolphins, sea turtles. It was paradise. We will be back! It was pretty private even with neighbors nearby. The apartment had everything you would need.

AMAZING!

There was a little hiccup but Joanie resolved the issue and we had the time of our lives! The location couldn’t be better! The upper deck overlooks the sunsets, there is fishing right off the dock, the house was clean and it has everything you need. Close enough to the grocery but far enough that you’re in the real keys!!

LOVE!!! LOVE!!! LOVE!!!

We were looking for somewhere to relax away from people. We really lucked out finding this place. It was very clean. The kitchen has everything you would need. We would walk the bridge across the highway every morning to catch the sunrises. We ate all our meals overlooking the water. We bought lobsters from a local fisherman. We spent our days on the dock watching the fish and the boats coming in. Gorgeous sunsets every evening. Denise and Joanie were amazing hostesses. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Great spot for boaters

The accommodation is comfortable and appointed nicely. The dock is small but could be adequate for up to 30' or so boat(s); it can be longer if you don't mind setting an anchor in the front. Sunsets are spectacular and viewable from inside, from the deck/patio, and from the dock, which is pretty special. If you're looking for dark sky or total quiet, note that the home next door has very bright lights on their dock space, and there are crabbers and lobstermen in the neighborhood, so it may not be quiet. Seeing lots of stars or viewing the milky way is not possible, given the light pollution (despite being far away from most of the keys population). All that stated, we were comfortable inside and comfortable outside, had no pain points, and had just a smashing time all around. The property manager was available rapidly and was very kind to us. Note that trailer parking is going to be an issue for anything longer than a 21-23' boat, but you can negotiate (carefully and kindly) with the marina on the island to accomodate you. The local ramp is very narrow but doable for most experienced drivers, and Rec-90 fuel is available on-island about 5 minutes at idle speed from the dock. Is the fuel cheap? Hardly...LOL.

Conch key

We have stayed at many places in the keys. We found conch key 6 years ago. Stayed at another location. Denise, Joanie and Salty are the Best! Can’t wait to get back. Perfect place for us to stay. Quiet, nice accommodations with everything you need. Met some of the nicest people from the neighbors, to the couple staying downstairs Larry and Carol.

Love the vibe of this house.

Love the vibe of this house. It was wonderful staying on Conch Key. This rental was perfect for the older Florida experience. The view of the bay was a delight every day. We love the patios and the outdoor space plus the indoor space was plenty of room for two people. Compliances were top-notch and the shower was perfect. Great air conditioning and ceiling fans.

Absolutely perfect

This property was a perfect getaway for us for a week long get away. Remote from tourists busy close enough to everything to still have easy access to what ever you need or want to do. Property managers, Denise and Joanie, are awesome and so helpful with what ever you need. Sea life is right out side you back door. Sunsets from the deck. Easy fishing from the docks. Already booked for next year and can’t wait!!!!

Great stay

We had a great quiet get away. It is not fancy but very comfortable. Old Florida Keys laid back gem. Only draw back is there is not a pool. Gulf is at your back door though. Denise and Joan are really great ladies and easy to work with. We will be back, thank you to the owners for sharing their property. It is a nice find.

A Beautiful Gem

We had an unreal stay at this Conch Key property. Waking up and ending the day with an indescribable sunset/rise was amazing! Such a relaxing time we even got to see most of the local wildlife, turtles, manatee, lobsters and a moray eel! what a fantastic place.

Excellent stay

We stayed a week in August 2019 and had a great time. The location is very good: quiet but close enough to restaurants and stores to be convenient. There is only a small shop on the island but it is within easy walking distance and Marathon is about 20 minutes south and Islamorada is 20 minutes north. We brought our 21' bay boat and docked it at the property. It was so nice to be able to just get in the boat and go whenever we wanted. Just a note, the property owners charge $50 to use the slip at the house and the marina/motel on the corner charges $30 for each launch and retrieval. The boat ramp is not easy to navigate so if you feel comfortable driving on the water, it may be better to launch from a better, maybe free ramp and drive the boat to the house. The public ramp at the Marathon yacht club was free and very nice, but a few miles away. The units were all full while we were there so parking was very tight. We had to leave our boat trailer at the corner by the marina and all our day guests had to park there as well. The house itself was perfect for my husband and I and we did entertain day guests twice. There's a large dining table, the kitchen sink is huge and we loved the big wood block counter. There's plenty of cookware and utensils (almost anything you could possibly need), most spices and some oil and even some ziplock bags and foil. Bring your own paper towels though. The shower is large with great water pressure. The outside deck is very nice with the balcony, covered picnic table, grill, and a clothesline to hang wet towels and swim suits. The lower dock area has a free washer and dryer, a hose to clean beach items and boats, a large fish cleaning table, an outdoor shower, and a deep freezer that we stored ice and bait in. The property managers, Joanie and Denise, were always close by if we had questions or needed things for the house. The rest of the families renting the other units while we were there were all very friendly and we felt like we had a little community. We had a great week taking our boat fishing and lobstering. It was a very relaxing vacation in a fabulous location.

Perfect spot

We had the best time staying here. My husband and I were with our two kids (ages 7 and 9). We brought our 18’ boat down and were very pleased with how easy it was to get in and out from our dock area - pretty easy to navigate compared to other places we’ve been to in the Keys (5 foot water at minimum to the bridge when you watch the shoal markers and maybe a 3’ spot near the boat ramp, which is on the island). Nice mooring areas at the dock on property. We were able to find some awesome drop-offfishing spots and did some snorkeling at Coffins Patch Reef. Fishing from the dock was also exciting with tarpon circling the whole time (and other fun stuff to look at like parrot fish and eels). There is a bait freezer on property which made it simple to store what you need for the week - frozen bait and ice available at the store up at the corner on the island. We stayed in the 1-bedroom upstairs unit on the water. The unit was very clean and well-stocked with essentials. The AC was cold and there are ceiling fans. A full-sized side-by-side refrigerator/freezer was perfect to store all the food/drinks we brought with us for the week. The bed was super comfortable. From our place we had awesome views of the sunset each night and the 4th of July fireworks out of Marathon. There is a fish cleaning area and hose on the dock, along with lots of chairs and a hammock. We got a chance to meet many of the locals on Conch Key - everyone was super friendly and helpful including the property managers Denise and Joanie and the people who run and work the place at the corner.

Thought it was wonderful

Then the cleaning staff showed up an hour early. The website CLEARLY states that check out is 11 a.m. We planned on showering and eating some breakfast before our 8 hour trip back home. We were unable to do so as we arrived from loading the boat at quarter to 10. The next 15 minutes were spent frantically trying to vacate the rental and load up our pets and belongings. Beautiful vacation with an unfortunate and unprofessional end. This is my 6th time using vrbo homeaway and have had zero issues. I just wish there was a way to make the property managers feel like i do right now. Great trip!/ terrible finish:(!

Perfect Getaway

Conch Key Landing is a peaceful, beautiful paradise. I have spent 26 years visiting Florida and never knew it could be so charming. This is a relaxing, unwinding, easy going place. However, shopping and good restaurants are just down the road. The apartment was clean, very comfortable, and had everything one might need to cook or barbecue. Joaney and Denise were fabulous hosts, helpful, fun and made us feel welcome. This is a romantic spot, with impressive views and breathtaking sunsets. We will be back!

LOVED THIS PLACE!!

Two of my friends and I stayed a week at the downstairs apartment and we just ABSOLUTELY loved it! The location is fabulous, the area is quiet and the sunsets are beautiful! This key is the "Old Florida" quaint feeling! It is centrally located so getting to the upper or lower keys is a snap! The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you may need to cook and entertain and to be able to see the beautiful views from inside the apartment is a wonderful amenity. Of course, the views once outside are even more spectacular. To be able to fish off your own dock in the Gulf just a few feet outside the apartment was one of many highlights! We found the managers and owners to be very accommodating! I definitely will be back soon and when stone crab season re-opens!

After staying in the keys at another location for 16 years we finally found our forever vacation home. Joanie and Denise are wonderful. If they called you a pig then you probably were. I leave the place in the condition I found it. The cleaning fee is everywhere you stay. It includes scubbing the fridge, showers and floors that most people would not even consider. They are wonderful and attentive iin making sure that your stay is excellent. Our boat tore up while we were there and Joanie had a mechanic at my door in 45 minutes. Could not ask for a better place to stay. If you want daily maid service stay at the Holiday Inn.

About the host

Hosted by Denise, Property Manager

Host profile image
We are a Canadian family, originally 6, now a family of 14 (and three dogs) who have been coming to the Keys for 30+ years. Twenty years ago, we discovered Conch Key and fell in love with it.

Why they chose this property

In 2008 'Conch Key Landing' (not the name at that time) came up for sale and we decided it would be an ideal place for our expanding family`s vacations, 'a home away from home'. We have enough accommodations on the property to house 10-12 people - perfect for a family reunion! We visit several times a year and have found that each season has its own appeal. We invite you to try some of the less busy times and become a member of the growing Conch Key Landing `club`.
During our times on Conch Key we have had great fishing - Bay and Ocean, super snorkeling, kayaking out to the sandy reefs at low tide, swimming in the warm water. We have often seen schools of dolphin passing by. On occasion manatees visit. From the dock you are able to observe tarpon at night and in the daytime - parrot fish, barracuda, many small tropical fish and once even a sawfish! Herons, egrets and pelicans often come to call.

What makes this property unique

The apartment has central air conditioning and heat. It has a fully equipped kitchen with a ceramic stove, refrigerator with water and ice, pots and pans, baking trays, cooking utensils, salad bowls, dishes and cutlery.
It has separate dining and living room areas. The dining room has patio doors opening out to the front balcony over the water.
The master bedroom has a king-sized bed, night tables, a full dresser, mirror and clothes closet.
The apartment has an upper deck with a Tiki roof over a picnic table and gas BBQ. The front balcony has a small table and chairs and is a favorite place for guests to gather with a glass of wine to watch the sunset or the stars. It also overlooks the dock , boatslips and a waterside deck on which there are comfortable deck chairs and a hammock under the palms.(see photo) This is a great place to relax with a book.

There is a swim ladder at the end of one pier and steps into the water in one of the boat slips.
You may use the washer and dryer and a pressure washer and tools found in the breezeway.
View: Waterfront directly on Florida Bay, facing west, protected from the cool north winds. Spectacular sunsets - rivaling those at Key West . The elusive 'green flash' has been seen on several occasions. You may be lucky! (Our son-in-law sailed around the world and never saw one until he came to CKL.)

Activities on site and nearby:
Fishing from boats, bridges or from the dock. Charter fishing from Conch Key or Marathon, snorkeling or scuba diving from Looye Key, bicycling over the bridges or on the bicycle paths. Marine life and bird viewing. Jetski rentals nearby. Close to the Dolphin Research Centre (swim with the dolphins), Theater of the Sea (Islamorada). Four nearby beaches (although the Keys are not renowned for this) - Anne's,Curry Hammock Park, Coco Plum and Sombrero. Drive over the famous Seven Mile Bridge to beautiful Bahia Honda State Park. And then, of course, spend a day at Key West.
