About this property
The Cedar | Pet-Friendly Fall | Walk to Town
Summary:
Experience fall in Cashiers from the Cedar, a cozy, pet-friendly one-bedroom cabin with views of Cashiers Lake and an easy walk to local shops and restaurants. Spend your days exploring colorful mountain scenery, waterfalls, and scenic drives before returning to a thoughtfully restored historic cabin. With its convenient location and welcoming atmosphere, the Cedar is an inviting mountain getaway for couples, solo travelers, and guests bringing their dog.
The Space:
The Cedar is a cozy, thoughtfully restored 1BR/1BA cabin offering views of Cashiers Lake and a comfortable place to relax after a day exploring the mountains.
Inside, you'll find a kitchen, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and the everyday essentials for an enjoyable stay.
Originally a U.S. Forest Service cabin in Waynesville, the Cedar was relocated to Cashiers Lake and renovated in 2021. Its historic character and modern conveniences create a welcoming retreat just a short walk from the heart of Cashiers.
Dogs are welcome at the Cedar, making it a convenient home base for guests exploring the area with their four-legged companions.
Guest Access:
You'll have the entire Cedar cabin to yourself, along with free on-site parking.
Shared outdoor amenities include a lakeside gazebo with bench seating, communal fire pit, charcoal grill, and outdoor sink and fish-cleaning station.
The gazebo is a pleasant spot to enjoy morning coffee, unwind with a book, or take in the views across Cashiers Lake.
The Neighborhood:
The Cedar is part of Cashiers Lake Cabins, a small historic cabin community near the heart of Cashiers. Local shops, restaurants, coffee, and other favorites are within easy walking distance.
In autumn, the surrounding mountains offer beautiful fall colors, scenic drives, and waterfall hikes. Nearby Highlands and other mountain destinations provide even more opportunities to explore the area.
Getting Around:
Free parking is available on-site. Several shops and restaurants in central Cashiers are within walking distance, but a car is recommended for exploring nearby waterfalls, hiking trails, scenic overlooks, Highlands, and other mountain destinations.
Other Things to Note:
The Cedar offers views of Cashiers Lake and is one of several cabins on a compact shared property. You'll have your own private cabin, but neighboring cabins are nearby and outdoor amenities are shared. The property offers lake views but does not include direct guest access to the water.
The Cedar is best suited to guests who appreciate historic character, walkability, lake views, and convenient access to Cashiers rather than a secluded or highly private mountain retreat.
Pet policy: Dogs are welcome but must remain supervised and leashed whenever outdoors. Please do not allow pets to roam the shared property unattended, and review the complete pet policy and house rules before your stay.
Interaction with Guests:
We respect your privacy, but our local team is available by message if you need anything before or during your stay.

My firmed and I enjoyed staying in the completely refurbished cottage. At first the idea of staying in the business district seemed strange, but it worked out really well. All was quite and cozy and safe. It was extremely convenient to visit all the offerings of downtown Cashiers.
If there is any suggestion we have, it was that the tv should come out of the armoire in the living area so a clothing rod could be installed and the shelves used for clothing storage as well, instead of staring so many beautiful but unnecessary extra throw pillows. Also the cottage could be de-cluttered just a bit as it seemed a bit over decorated with lots of cute bric a brac. All was really cute and the ultra soft throw blankets were so nice on the cool mountain mornings.
