Nice place for a quick weekend stay to visit our son. The neighborhood was peaceful and quiet. The house was clean and featured some really neat 50's style decor that gave it a unique charm. The backyard space was perfect for our dogs to run around and enjoy.
Interesting property.. definitely retro! Very spacious, plenty of room for us and our two adult kids. It is an older home, so probably hard to completely defeat the musty smell. But they try with lots of air purifiers throughout. Not bad for a single night stay.
I would not recommend this house if cleanliness is important to you or if you value communication between yourself & the host. We have never left a negative review but this was such a negative experience for us we had to share it Dirty towels (I used paper towels to dry myself), dirty floors, dirty rugs, old food stuck to cabinet doors, TV that did not work, large holes in fence, 3 dead refrigerators throughout the property, litter & cigarette butts in the backyard & on patio. Old bacon grease smell throughout the house. Dark shower highlighted by artwork featuring a nuclear bomb wiping out Bikini Atol. The 'grill' is one you find at a campsite - bring charcoal with you. No off-street parking behind the house as promised in the description. No trashcan in the alley to put your trash in (one of the house rules you may be charged extra for if you don't take it out).No response from the host by message or phone once we checked in. They did send a VRBO message at 2 or 3 in the morning that I did not see until I woke up. No further contact until after I checked out. VRBO Care was unable to contact the host as well and were not helpful. I spent about 3 hours on the phone with them & received a 31 refund for my efforts, I did not feel compensated for the bad conditions we experienced at this house.I do not believe this house should be a VRBO listing. I rented this house based on other reviews, photos & misleading descriptions with a 9.8 "exceptional" rating.

Tara and I communicated and she imformed me that if i refunded her it would help towards her review, whatever that was suppose to mean. The house is not perfect, but never dirty towels ,dirty floors, dirty rugs. The TV works, the remote was damaged and was replaced. The TV is identical to the one in the room and it worked fine in the TV. We have had several large dogs as guests and the fence needs repair. I have a refrigerator in the dining area that is unplugged and one in the carport that also work. There were no cigarette butts in the backyard & on patio upon her departure. The shower has a light, not sure about her fixation on the artwork featuring a nuclear bomb, guess she does not like history. The grill is definitely one you find at a campsite. It is study and rugged. You will need to bring your own charcoal with you, we never said we would provide it. The parking behind the house is under construction, no one can help that. No trash can in the alley, there is obviously on in the front of the house, no one has ever been charged for trash removal. I discussed her concerned and refunded her $50 for the food stains found in the cabinet. There wlare two other televisions in the house for them to watch TV in plenty of comfort. Tara was very unpleasant and I hope she finds accommodation elsewhere in her next visit to the area.
My husband and i brought my Mom to our family reunion event held at Abilene State park. This house wasnt too far from the park and in an old well maintained neighborhood. The house was a step back into the 50s! Loved the decor, especially the old cabinet stereos that still worked! Neighborhood was quiet and we had private parking in the back. Loved it and would stay again. The backyard was very nicely fenced in for our dogs and the front yard was bordered with beautifil trees and the most beautiful St. Augustine grass i have ever seen. The beds were all comfortable and the shower was nice and clean. The kitchen was adequate and we loved the coffee grinder and it was full of fresh coffee beans. That was awesome! We would DEFINITELY love to return.
