Inside Comforts

On a chilly day, the living room invites you to relax: light the fire (wood provided), sink into the iconic Eames lounge chair or unwind on the spacious B&B Italia lounge sofa by the crackling fire. Watch a movie with Dolby Surround sound and Netflix for the perfect cozy evening.

A Kitchen to Fall in Love With

Cooking becomes a pleasure in our Bulthaup kitchen, equipped with Gaggenau appliances and a Miele dishwasher. Whether you’re preparing a quick lunch or an elaborate dinner, this space is built to inspire.

You’ll find:
• A robust 5-burner gas stove (Gaggenau)
• Steam and regular oven (Gaggenau)
• Quooker boiling water tap
• American fridge with ice maker
• Miele dishwasher

Enjoy your meal at the indoor dining table overlooking the 25-meter-deep garden, or outside on the terrace in the evening sun. A BBQ grill is available on the veranda for relaxed outdoor dining.

Don’t feel like cooking? Book our private chef (by request) – a trusted professional who knows our kitchen inside and out. A unique culinary experience in the comfort of your holiday home.

Sleep in Style

On the first floor, you’ll find two beautifully decorated bedrooms and a cozy playroom with a Sony PlayStation 5 – fun for all ages. The bathroom features a freestanding bathtub, walk-in shower, and double sink.

The second floor is a retreat in itself: a spacious loft with sleeping area, bathroom with rain shower, sink and toilet, and a generous walk-in closet.

Work Out or Wind Down

Feel like moving? Start your day in our private gym – complete with punching bag, free weights, and other workout gear – or use it to unwind after a day out.

Explore the Area

Hop on one of the bikes (available for your use) and ride through the stunning Waterleidingduinen nature reserve. You’re likely to spot deer along the way, and within 25 minutes, you’ll arrive at Zandvoort Beach.

Prefer a city vibe? In just 10 minutes by bike you’re in the heart of Haarlem at the iconic Grote Markt, surrounded by cozy cafés, restaurants, museums, and the best boutique shopping in the country. Amsterdam is also close – just 15 minutes by train from nearby Heemstede-Aerdenhout station.

Local Delights

Right around the corner is Heemstede’s lively shopping street, and every Wednesday there’s a charming fresh market just 100 meters from the house. Children will love Groenendaal Park with its petting zoo and large playground, and you’ll also find a local swimming pool and Europe’s largest playground – the Linnaeushof – nearby.

Optional: Private Boat Tour

When the weather is nice, treat yourself to a private boat tour aboard our beautiful Norwegian sloop – including captain. The boat is moored just a short walk from the house and offers a relaxing way to explore the area from the water. Drinks and snacks are included. Please note: this experience is available at an additional cost and should be booked in advance.

Beautiful home for a quick trip to the Netherlands!

The home was so beautifully decorated, perfectly clean and we felt welcomed immediately by the property manager. Their restaurant and bakery recommendations were amazing, as well as helping us reserve a local canal tour to Harleem. One of us used their bikes and biked back to Amsterdam for the day to visit mor museums!

Fantastic house and location - hosts were wonderful!

Cynthia and her family were wonderfully responsive and kind. Communication was excellent and timely. The house itself was beautiful and comfortable and exactly what we needed for our week’s stay. Public transit and bike transit was nearby and easy to use; the local cafes and restaurants were great but Haarlem was close enough to offer extra variety. We would absolutely stay here again on our next trip. Many thanks, Cynthia!

About the host

Our home tells a story – one that began over a century ago, in the 1920s, when it was built in the elegant style of that era. You’ll see it in the original stained-glass windows that catch the morning light, in the solid wood paneling that gives the home its warm character, and in the peaceful flow from room to garden to veranda.

When I (Cyn) first walked through the door, I fell in love with the soul of this house. As someone who loves to travel, cook, and bring people together, I’ve always dreamed of a place that feels both comforting and inspiring – and that’s exactly what we’ve created here. The house has been carefully renovated to preserve its history while offering the kind of modern luxury I look for myself when I travel.

From the custom Bulthaup kitchen with Gaggenau appliances to the B&B Italia lounge and the Eames chair by the fire, every corner is designed to help you slow down and enjoy. Have your morning espresso on the veranda, prepare a meal with fresh market produce, or book our private chef for a special evening in.

Families appreciate the space – and the PS5 in the playroom – while couples and friends enjoy the quiet garden, the cozy fireplace, and the possibility of a private boat tour with snacks and drinks, just minutes from the house.

This home is not just a place to sleep. It’s a place to land. To breathe. To live like a local – and leave with a story.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this neighborhood for its perfect balance of calm and character. It’s green, safe, and peaceful – yet just minutes away from vibrant Haarlem, the dunes, the beach, and even Amsterdam. The local market, charming shops, and cozy cafés give it a village feel, while the nature reserves and bike routes make every day feel like a little holiday. It’s a place where you can truly slow down, but never be bored.

What makes this property unique

Our home is more than a place to sleep – it’s an experience. Built over 100 years ago, the house is a classic 1920s gem, full of original charm: stained-glass windows, elegant wood paneling, and authentic period details throughout. Whether it’s enjoying your morning espresso on the garden veranda, cooking in the Bulthaup kitchen with top-tier appliances, or curling up by the fireplace in a B&B Italia lounge, every detail is designed for comfort and style. Families love the space, gamers enjoy the PS5, and foodies rave about the option to book a private chef. And if you’re lucky with the weather – the private boat tour is truly unforgettable.
