Beautiful house, great location, perfect for large groups!

Oceanspray was the perfect place for my daughter's bachelorette trip! Plenty of space for her bridesmaids, the view was amazing, and Shawn was a stellar host. He and his driver were professional, prompt, and very helpful. I highly recommend using Shawn's driver, especially if you are not familiar with Nassau. Wayne is a safe and courteous driver and was very knowledgable about the area. He was literally at our beck and call...even for a late night toilet paper run! Shawn was quick to respond to all our requests and messages too. The check-in/check-out process was a breeze. The house and the location were perfect! We had the best trip and will definitely be back to stay!

Relaxing Setup

We enjoyed our stay at Shawn’s beautiful house. We were looking for a house away from downtown and the nice pool & quiet beach across the street were both a hit with my family. Additional features worth mentioning include great views from the decks/porch, 3 bathrooms (including 1 on first floor), and decent snorkeling right in front of house. We also leveraged Shawn’s driver service. It was more expensive than a rental car, but it made for a convenient experience getting around the island.

Best vacation ever

The house was perfect for our two families. We also used our hosts driver for the week. This was money well spent! Highly recommend this location and host. The only thing I would like to see is the kitchen being equipped with a few more items, as we prepared a lot of our food here and often bad to get a bit creative, this wouldn’t keep us from staying here again however.

January Escape from Chicago Winter

The property was just as advertised. Private, low-key, and great for groups and young families. The kitchen was well-stocked but in the rare occurrences that we needed something (like coffee filters or a lighter for the grill), Shawn was super-responsive. And if you're considering renting a car vs. hiring Shawn's car service (given the location, you'll want one or the other), we opted for the service and was one of the best decisions we made. A little more expensive than renting but infinitely more convenient, all things considered. Overall great experience, we look forward to coming back soon.

A great relaxing spot

Family traveled to the Bahamas for a nice quiet break in the action and this is exactly what we got. Watching the moonlight across the water, hanging out at the beach and cruising around was our mantra. Convenient, clean and a great host.

Incredible Family trip! Amazing location

Amazing location directly on the water. Snorkeling right outside in the shallow waters we saw stingrays, barracudas and all types of fish. Our family of 6, 4 young kids ages 10-5 loved every minute of Shawn's Home. The private pool was a huge bonus for windy days or to just bum around whenever we wanted. Shawn lined up our initial airport transfer and gave us numerous recommendations for car rental, restaurants, activities etc. He was very accommodating. Our favorites were the balconies for morning coffee, fully stocked kitchen with all utensils that we needed as we cooked every breakfast and many dinners in the home. Everything worked, everything was clean and we couldn't have been happier with our very first VRBO. Shawn we hope to see you again very soon. Bahamas, we miss you already.

Wonderful house and location close to the beach. Plenty of room for all 8 women to gather. Private location with pool and beach across the street. Shawn is wonderful! Fast with responses and requests (we had plenty:). Gave multiple ideas for dinner spots, beaches and shopping.

Bahamas vacation

Good location only 15 minute drive to downtown Nassau. Nice, safe neighborhood with friendly residents. Great sunrise mornings, sandy beach nearby, nice pool. Small kitchen with outdated appliances, only one frying pan and no baking pans. Furniture is outdated and shower in main bathroom is very small and in poor shape. Interior needs improvements.

Memorable Vacation

The property was well kept, clean, and spacious. I would say best for about 10 people. Sean the owner was GREAT!! the driver is definitely a must. Great views of the sunrise from the balconies. Much better deal than hotels for sure. Check in / out was very easy and flexible, we had to do nothing. Thanks Sean and Don for a great memorable vacation.

Opulent….ish

Great location, great views, nice pool…but did not meet our expectations based on the listing. First, the listing stated the rental was the “entire home”. This is simply untrue - we had access to less than half the house while the property manager lived in the other half. Second, the listing says beach front and the pictures would seem to indicate the home sits on the beach….it does not. The home faces the beach but there is a fairly busy road between the house and the beach. We found this only to be a minor deviation from the listing but nonetheless a deviation. The home interior looked dated from the pictures but it’s worse in actuality - the bed in the master is horrible - there’s not much worse than the sound of rusty springs as you make any movement. The other beds looked similar. The Living Room furniture is uncomfortable and didn’t make for a cozy space for the group. The kitchen is barely stocked - 1 pot and 1 saucepan and there is nothing extra. The decor desperately needs a woman’s touch throughout the home. Now the good - Shawn is incredibly nice and was responsive to whatever we required. There are two grocery stores very nearby which is awesome. The beach is steps from the front door and is beautiful - probably the best in Nassau. The pool area is clean and well manicured. The area felt safe and there were lots of walkers/excercise enthusiasts out with the sunrise. in

A Fabulous Stay!

What a fabulous stay, at a fabulous place. (Clean, orderly, and well-maintained) We are a family of four and the house was more than big enough for us. It has a well-equipped kitchen, with a dishwasher, so we didn't have to go out for every meal. It was an easy trip to the grocery store, or to neighboring beaches, downtown Nassau, or Paradise Island (Americans: Keep Left! :-) ). Taxis are also very reasonable if you don't want to attempt the drive. I think the culinary highlight of our trip was visiting the Nassau fish market, picking out a huge grouper that had just been caught that day, having it filetted there, and then bringing it home and popping it on the gas grill. Life doesn't get any better than that. Sun worshipers: We could lay out in the sun right on the balconies if it got too breezy on the beach. Finally, Shawn is an amazingly helpful gentleman and took terrific care of us! Delbert

Nice roomy house right across from a beach.

Renting from Shawn was a great experience. He was easy to work with and was there to greet us when we arrived. Whenever we needed anything, he had it to us by the next morning. As far as the house goes, it is in a quiet area on the East side of the island. The sunrises each morning were spectacular. There was plenty of room for the 9 of us. The parents slept in the two bedrooms and the young adults had plenty of room in the loft. The house is well kept and has all the necessities. We ate about half our meals at the house and half out, so having a full kitchen was great. Also, having the washer and dryer was helpful after the days water adventures. There also a brand new pool in the side yard. I would definitely recommend using Bernoid as the driver. He can take up to 12 and is available from 6am to midnight and even worked later to pick us up on New Years Eve. Wherever we needed to go he was there promptly to get us there. As the kids said “Bernoid is the man!” The reason for four stars instead of five is there are a couple of minor maintanence issues, the WiFi kept cutting in and out and there needs to be more seating in the living room. Overall, our stay at Oceanspray was fantastic and we will stay there again on our next visit to Nassau.

All we could ask for!!

Everything about this stay was absolutely amazing!! There were 9 of us and I'm not sure we have anything to actually complain about! The house was exactly as described, the primary bedroom (on second floor) was great with the most amazing views, nice ensuite and lots of space. 2nd bedroom on that floor was large as well, big bed, lots of storage,. Bathroom was just outside the bedroom door and a good size bathroom with tub/shower. 3rd floor is a large open room w/4 king size beds, perfect for all of our kids to have their own space, and balcony, Main floor kitchen/living/bathroom.. beautiful views..Kitchen had what we needed to enjoy the stay, and lots of seating in both. Beautiful pool well maintained, the beach across the road is a lot nicer than some people gave it credit for. It's basically private. More than enough towels provided to use at both! Shawn was the most amazing host, who perfectly walked the line of making you feel like he wasn't even there, but being there anytime we needed anything. He went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable, by the little things he did. Can't praise him enough! Also, hire the driver!!!!!!! Best decision we could've made!! Another wonderful human who will do everything he can to make you time enjoyable!! My personal suggestions, full length mirror in primary, more storage on the 3rd floor, and a mop. None of these were big issues so I never even told Shawn or I'm sure he would have fixed them while we were there!

Large and lovely home for the 12 of us

We were 12 of us for a 5 day trip and there was plenty of room for everyone. The house was clean and well appointed. Plenty of light around the home at night. A crib and high chair was ready when we got there. Air conditioning was very effective. Plenty of bottled water was provided. And Shawn was very friendly and responsive to our requests. For example, he delivered some coffee filters we needed first thing in the morning and one night he set out the grill before we got home so it would be ready for us after a trip to the supermarket. (Beware: food is pricey on the island, higher than what we are used to in the USA.) The home is in a quiet residential area with little traffic, away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. We hired Bernoid, a driver that Shawn recommended, for the 5 days. He had a 12 passenger van that fit all of us at once, including luggage. Otherwise we would have had to rent 2 vehicles and dealt with driving on the left side of the road. Transportation is required if you want to got to the supermarket or to one of the resorts on the island. Bernoid's fee included all gas and tolls. He picked us up whenever we wanted, including transportation from and to the airport, and was a great resource for information about the island. Shawn's place is highly recommended! Thank you, Shawn!

Large Space for a big family

My family stayed here because of the square footage, and the beachfront (although you have to cross a road to get to the beach). The house was large and spacious. We were surprised with the size of the loft space. We had four children on the third floor but it could have easily accommodated 8 people on that floor alone. Shawn is an absolutely amazing host and I would give him six stars if I was just reviewing him. If we had a problem he arrived promptly and resolved any issues. Once we had a problem with the AC and the WIFi and both times Shawn promptly fixed the issues by resetting the equipment. You definitely need a driver if you are staying here. We are glad we decided to at the last minute, because the location is about 20minutes from town. Our driver Brenoid was amazing! He even was there at 5am in the morning once after being up all night (it was New Years Eve) and was an excellent source of information about Nassau. Our only issue was that the beach was not really a beach to layout on if it was high tide. It's okay during low tide. However, if you just want to snorkel or swim it was perfect. The microwave wasn't working properly, but a few buttons worked so we operated it that way. Also the WiFi didn't work on the second and third floors so we had to go to the first floor to get on the internet. Not sure we could have found anything on the island with this amount of space, and for this price. It was a great stay for all.

Horrifying and unbearable

The photo and description says we are renting a villa, which would have justified the extremely overpriced price! However when we arrived there was only half a villa! Because the landlord himself lives in the other half! It was an old house inside and just newly painted on the outside. It stinks of mildew without end in the small uncomfortable seating area at the very entrance. But he advertises for 12 people. There would never be room for the 12 guests in the small half of the house! There is a bedroom with a bathroom that needs renovation (water damage to the closet), rusted fittings. Everything is carelessly set up like in a bachelor pad. We also found more than 3 dead cockroaches and one live one in the kitchen, beds and sleeping area. The house is as is and in need of renovation and should not be rented out for the price! However, the hammer is the completely restricted (very sloping ceiling) on the 3rd floor (attic conversion), in which we found 4 double beds next to each other, like in a reception camp! And another double air mattress! No seating area, or closet and the harshness, two completely unfaired huge motors for the house air conditioner, which were loud and horrible to see in the attic. This is not a bedroom! The bed linen was also partially uncleaned and smelled of use. Everything like in an old house where a grandma is dying. The owner was always friendly. But that cant help! We feel cheated!!!

Open your door to an adventurous beautiful ocean with peace.

Our family stay at the ocean spray house was absolutely stunning. We relaxed by the pool playing with our kids after a long day of playing in the ocean and touring Nassau. The neighborhood was so safe with grocery stores, pharmacies, and food all near by. The fact that it was nestled in a beautiful beach away from large touristy crowds was the best but still just a quick drive to the downtown area was everything. Our host Shawn was amazing and attentive. If you need anything he is the go to. Fortunately we needed nothing as the house was equipped and safe. The inside was simple and clean. If you are traveling with small kids this place was awesome. Plenty of beds. We really enjoyed our stay.

A Slice of Heaven

Ocean spray was perfect for our family of 7. Located on the beach, we enjoyed beautiful sunrises, a crystal clear private pool, and the quiet neighborhood. The house was well appointed with all the amenities we could need. The owner greeted us with cold beers and a quick tour, and was responsive to our few questions as we settled in. I cannot recommend Oceanspray strongly enough! You’ll love it!

Great time had by all!

My husband and I just recently stayed at the Ocean Spray with our 5 adult children. We had a wonderful trip! Shawn is a great host. He was very quick to respond to any questions I had prior to our trip. He was also very accessible during our stay to help us out with a couple of things we needed. The pool is great. It is in a very private location. It is a good size and temperature and is 7 ft deep at one end so nice for adults to use. The home is right across the street from a small beach. This is not a great beach to sunbathe on. The location where the sand is exposed is quite rocky in the water. There are concrete steps down to the water where the parking lot is. If you enter the water at this spot, it is very sandy The water is shallow for quite a distance out and there is a semi-circle of rocks that offer protection from the waves. It was a great spot to cool off in the ocean. The view is amazing! This was my favorite part of the property. It is right on the ocean and there are decks on all three levels that have spectacular views. There is a pretty busy road that runs right in front of the property and this does take away some of the enjoyment of the view, but it is still absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend hiring Shawn's driver. Brenoid was such a pleasure to deal with. He was always prompt with pickup and had great suggestions for places to go. There are pros and cons with the location. The listing clearly states that this property is in a residential neighborhood, however, there really is nothing to do within walking distance. It was necessary to have the driver pick us up every time we wanted to go out and it took at least 15 minutes to get to any restaurant or activity. Just for a reference, one night three of my kids wanted to stay longer than the rest of us at a bar at the Atlantis and took a taxi back. It cost them $70. While it is nice to be away from the hectic downtown area, we did get a little tired of needing transportation for absolutely everything.
