Cup of coffee in hand, two bald eagles soaring in the brilliant blue skies above, filtering sunlight coming through the towering firs, and the sound of the waterfalls just a few steps away... This is the private sanctuary of nature and river that greets you at the “House at the Falls”.
“House at the Falls" offers guests a slice of peaceful, country life in the woods, where the loudest sounds are wind, river, and eagles calling to each other. Located 40 minutes from the Portland airport, and just under an hour from downtown Portland; the “House at the Falls” is an amazing, secluded forested riverfront property, perfect for family vacations, romantic getaways, and a perfect place to “reset” in a beautiful restorative retreat-like setting.

• This section of the river is a salmon spawning area, so no fishing is allowed in this area
• There is basically NO cell service once you turn off state highway 14
• Halfway up the final road, keep going you are almost there!
• Please leave loud parties and loud music at home. The eagles and neighbors thank you in advance!
• During certain times of the year the riverbed is a bit slippery, water shoes are a must for walking in the river.
• The Safeway in Washougal delivers (3307 Evergreen Way, Washougal). To get this service, you must order food at least 3 to 4 days in advance!
• "The Washougal Mercantile" (7a-8p, 7 days a week) is on the way to the house and has awesome steaks, wines, pints of ice cream, as well as good handmade pizzas!
• Please obey local burn bans during high-risk fire seasons.
• If you decide to use the Weber, we ask you clean the grill after use or else incur a $30 fee
• Please remove shoes/sandals before stepping into the sauna.
• Please no glass near the sauna, hot tub, or outdoor shower
We utilize a keyless, contactless check-in. We do live nearby and can be available if necessary, but your privacy is of our utmost concern. We utilize a co-host in order to make sure all questions are answered promptly.

Getting to the House at the Falls:
You need to drive to the House at the Falls. The final road is a beautiful narrow paved road that follows the river, twists and turns and all. Once you get on this road, it will take you about 30-minutes to get to the house. Beyond House at the Falls, you enter wilderness...traversed by dirt forest roads that may or may not require high clearance and 4WD. Remember there is NO CELL PHONE SERVICE!!!
During the winter months, House at the Falls can sometimes experience significant snow. You will be in a winter wonderland! Snow removal will not be timely. Be prepared to shovel and/or drive your way through snow on slick roads. Chains, high clearance and/or snow tires with all-wheel drive may be necessary. Please keep an eye on the weather forecast in our area. The Dougan Creek Campground weather station is literally just across the river from us and gives the most accurate forecast.

• Each of the bedrooms is decorated in a different theme: fishing, bears, wilderness
• 2 of the 3 bedrooms have a television with Roku streaming services. Sign-in with your personal account to watch Netflix, Prime, Disney+, etc.
• Two of the 3 bedrooms open to the back patio, through private sliding glass doors
• All 3-bedrooms have thick fleece guest bathrobes, extra fleece blankets, and small electric wall-heaters to make each room’s heat “just right”, portable fan in the closet
• 1-bedroom has two twin-beds and the others have double beds
• red old-fashioned (LED) lanterns are scattered around the house for emergency lights
• Luxury 100% cotton, 800 thread count sateen sheets and pillowcases on every bed

Guests will need their own vehicle. The House at the Falls is located at Dougan Falls and personal transportation is needed to get to grocery stores, restaurants, etc.
