About this property
Cosmopolitan Studio in Upscale Historic Neighborhood

Natural light pours into spacious kitchen area with western sunset view, with a glimpse of the Olympics, for one or two people. Eating counter with stools is adjacent to spacious cooking area for conversation and comraderie. Exhaust fan to outdoors and adjustable mood lighting are over counter. Two steps down to cozy bedroom area with queen bed, easy chairs with reading lights and high ceilings. Fully enclosed bath house with hot tub and French doors opening onto side deck on the other side of the house is available to guests; or take a short walk to lake views of Mt. Rainier and the Cascades where there are blocks of elegant homes and gardens from 1920's. Mt. Baker Park , an Olmstead legacy park a block down the hill , has tennis courts and a great kids' playground, A five minute walk takes you to lakefront with supervised beach area, and further down is the Rowing and Sailing Center with boat ramp and sailboat rental. It's on a jogging/bike path extending six miles, ending in Seward Park, a peninsula of original growth forest with its own beach and outdoor summer concerts.
At the corner across from the park, Café Mioposto is open long hours with a full bar. The building has a Pilates studio, hair salon and pet shop. It's a five block walk to grocery store and pharmacy, Light Rail line to airport and downtown. City bus stops in front of the house.
Seattle is known for good bookstores, live music and theatre, and a variety of restaurants, most with outdoor dining in the summer. Gourmands appreciate food sources like the Pike Place Market and weekly neighborhood farmers' markets. Crafters appreciate sources for knitting/weaving yarn (about seven stores in the area), jewelry, quilting and woodworking supplies. Shopaholics love Bellevue Square just across the lake, and the Nordstrom Rack!
Use this property as a base for day trips to outdoor recreation in the greater area, whether mountains or Sound, including Victoria, B.C.; explore the islands of Puget Sound, go to the Lavender Festival or the Bellevue Arts Festival in July, attend the Hydroplane races in August-the course is a few blocks from the house. Relax on long summer nights with sunset views from the studio or the deck, or cozy up to your favorite book or TV inside. Deck chairs provided for sunset views in front of the door in fair weather months.

About the host
Hosted by Suzanna Plumb

Retired educator and librarian, my passions are textile crafts, jewelry making, antique refinishing, some gardening and home décor. Fluent French speaker and working to attain fluency in Italian, I'm a Europhile with my vine-covered main deck! I prize the cool summers (mostly) in Seattle and access to the ocean and the waters of Puget Sound, and two great NPR stations. I have two Siamese cats .
Why they chose this property
Developed the studio apartment in 1989. A great neighborhood should be shared with those who cannot purchase in this prime area! Remodeled in December 2010.
What makes this property unique
Quick access to beautiful areas on foot. The sense of history and groundedness in staying in the house that was built to promote the area in 1905, and the authenticity of its architecture. The presence of a variety of plants on the decks, hot tub house and in the yard. A quiet neighborhood close to downtown, yet on a huge lake resembling the lakes of Italy.
