What makes this property unique
In 1994, our grandparents bought this property. At the time, it held a small 24-by-24 foot cabin with just four rooms, which they called home.
One night in 1995, while Granny was away and Grandpa was asleep, their dog began barking endlessly. The commotion woke Grandpa, and he discovered the cabin was on fire. He escaped through a window—wearing only his underwear—and ran with the dog to a neighbor’s house. The neighbor gave him clothes and called the fire department. When Grandpa returned to watch from a distance, the propane tank exploded, forcing him to take cover behind the guardrail.
After much cleanup and preparation, the cabin that stands here today was built in 1996. Over the years, it became much more than a home—it became the heart of countless family reunions, summer gatherings, and celebrations. Relatives pitched tents and parked campers, they grilled out, floated the river, and created memories that still live on.
In 2019, our beloved Grandpa passed away, leaving Granny here on her own. By 2021, the family decided it was best for her to move closer to Iron Mountain to live with her son.
In 2023, her son and two granddaughters began renovating the cabin—cleaning, updating, and painting to give it new life. Soon after, the two granddaughters launched Ourcabin, a small rental business to help with household expenses and, most importantly, to keep the cabin in the family for generations to come.
And so, Ourcabin continues—not just as a place to stay, but as a piece of family history and a place where new memories are waiting to be made.
