Host was very thoughtful in providing the small necessities in making our stay feel like a cozy, peaceful retreat. It is a wonderful cabin with river front views, charming decorations and a peaceful feeling while sitting by the flowing river amongst nature and its beautiful surroundings. We loved our stay!! Definitely recommend!
My stay was absolutely wonderful! The place was spotless, cozy, and exactly as described in the listing. Plenty of outdoor lighting. Fire pit next to the river was so relaxing, even got to see shooting stars! I will ABSOLUTELY be staying again.
This was a perfect cabin on the river with gorgeous views from the deck. Owners were very generous and communicative. The place was secluded yet allowed us to go to Escanaba and Maniatique. We highly recommend.

It was an excellent experience. Very low stress and pressure. Sit on the front porch and join the hummingbirds, chipmunks and blue jays with the sound of the river flowing in the background. Loved it!!!
Me and a few friends stayed here to watch the rally that was happening in Marquette. It was a little bit of a drive but it was very worth it. The place was very nice and clean. The view was great. The space was very nice to have a few guys and kick back for the weekend.

Hope to see you next year for the race again! Thanks Wyatt
Wonderful time in the woods with plenty of nature and sights. Close enough to things that we could make day trips, but far enough away to feel really secluded. The host was very responsive. It had a great fire pit. Waking up in the morning to have coffee in front of the river was very relaxing. I highly recommend.

Thank you for the kind words. Hope to see you back again.
Trip up here for a wedding. Enjoyed the layed back atmosphere of cottage. Spent a lot of time on deck talking while taking in the view. Loved all the variety of peony plants in bloom. Great thunderstorm rolled through and following morning roses were full of bumblebees busy collecting pollen and nectar. Will be back.
The stay was wonderful. Love the little river. Very peaceful. Everything was great. We appreciate the guide book. Not much to complain about. Only that we would've liked if there was more paper towel. We only had one roll provided. And the knives weren't really sharp. Other than those little things the rest of our time there was great.

Appreciate the feedback of the review. I will make sure my house cleaner knows to leave more paper towel. Typically one roll and the wash rags are enough for a short stay. As for the knifes, the block is brand new. Again, thank you for providing feedback.
My husband and I had business in the area. We took our 2 teenage grandsons, and a friend of theirs, with us. We loved everything about the property. We fished. We relaxed. We made smores. We went to the local watering hole for a swim. I wish we would have been able to stay a couple more days. This cabin has absolutely everthing you could need. The yard is beautiful. The boys are already planning a trip back!

What makes this property unique
In 1994, our grandparents bought this property. At the time, it held a small 24-by-24 foot cabin with just four rooms, which they called home.
One night in 1995, while Granny was away and Grandpa was asleep, their dog began barking endlessly. The commotion woke Grandpa, and he discovered the cabin was on fire. He escaped through a window—wearing only his underwear—and ran with the dog to a neighbor’s house. The neighbor gave him clothes and called the fire department. When Grandpa returned to watch from a distance, the propane tank exploded, forcing him to take cover behind the guardrail.
After much cleanup and preparation, the cabin that stands here today was built in 1996. Over the years, it became much more than a home—it became the heart of countless family reunions, summer gatherings, and celebrations. Relatives pitched tents and parked campers, they grilled out, floated the river, and created memories that still live on.
In 2019, our beloved Grandpa passed away, leaving Granny here on her own. By 2021, the family decided it was best for her to move closer to Iron Mountain to live with her son.
In 2023, her son and two granddaughters began renovating the cabin—cleaning, updating, and painting to give it new life. Soon after, the two granddaughters launched Ourcabin, a small rental business to help with household expenses and, most importantly, to keep the cabin in the family for generations to come.
And so, Ourcabin continues—not just as a place to stay, but as a piece of family history and a place where new memories are waiting to be made.
