About this property

Julian's Hidden Gem -Dogs Welcome!!

Nestled amongst the oak trees, off an old country road sits Red Fox Retreat, a wonderful mountain home ready to host you and your loved ones. Secluded in the hills, just 2 miles from the historic town of Julian, an adventure awaits. Enjoy the large deck or relax in one of our many hammocks scattered around the property and listen to the sounds of nature. Too hot? Relax inside and enjoy our new central AIR CONDITIONING, before you venture or when you return from your day of exploration.

THE SPACE:
Shaded by the surrounding oak trees and tucked away in the hills, "Red Fox Retreat" allows you to relax and unwind yet be close to all the amenities Julian and Wynola have to offer.

With almost 2000 sqft of interior living space and a 1,500 sqft rear deck, there is plenty of space to move about. Provided with a new central HEAT and AIR CONDITIONING, the interior can easily be kept at your ideal temperature; Add a log to the wood stove to achieve a little ambiance in the winter. There are smart TVs, WiFi (with speeds ranging from 10-45 mbps), as well as DVDs, puzzles, books and board games to enjoy.

All of the rooms are provided with large windows to bring in plenty of natural light. This brings in a light airy feeling, rather than a cramped, dark cabin feeling-which is especially nice in the winter!!

The kitchen is large and open. It contains all your cooking/ baking needs (including spices, condiments, coffee, tea, sugar, popcorn, syrup, pancake mix and a few other food items).

The primary bedroom is very large and contains a king size bed, walk in closet and a separate laundry room. The other two bedrooms are smaller and contain a king and queen bed and have hanging racks for clothes.

There is a BBQ grill and plenty of parking on the private circular driveway for extra guests to visit.

The house is equipped with an automatic generator in the event that SDG&E shuts off the power during times of inclimate weather.

GUEST ACCESS

The entire cabin- This property sits on 5 acres of space. There is a fenced yard that is exclusive as well as the adjacent grounds. The seasonal pond is shared with the adjoining neighbors and our glamping site. Typically the pond is dry by the end of August/ September so there are no fish present. Please do not venture onto the backside of the pond or into the glamping area. Be aware that the dock is not floating and has no railings. There is a 10 foot drop to the ground when there is no water. Please do not use, when there is no water present.

Well behaved, quiet and house broken dogs are welcome, but not permitted on the beds or the furniture. This includes the outdoor furniture as well.

Because we live here part time, there is a pantry, chest freezer and two storage closets that we have our food and personal belongings in that will be locked. Please do not try to enter into these areas.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:

Red Fox Retreat is located in the country so please be aware that you will probably see turkey, quail, deer, woodpeckers, squirrels and possibly an elusive racoon or fox; but we also have ants, spiders, poison oak, rattlesnakes, bobcats, coyotes and mountain lions. It is important that you keep your eyes open and your pets and your children tended to.

The weather up here is typically beautiful, but it has its moments of rain, thunderstorms, hail, snow and high winds. Please take these elements into account when you book your stay. Winter guests may need AWD or 4WD and or chains. We do not give refunds for weather related issues. CHP can update you on road conditions and chain requirements before you come.

I am a San Diego native who loves the outdoors. We both love exploring new areas and traveling the world. We bought this place as a future retirement home but for now we use it as a place to escape and unwind from our daily lives. I have enjoyed renting places in this area with my family, so when we had the opportunity to purchase a property with a pond, I couldn't resist.

Why they chose this property

Julian has a lot of history and the area is considered to be in the local "mountains" (for San Diego). It is not a far drive for us to be able to come out last minute and enjoy the setting and surroundings. This property feels secluded, and gives you the feeling you are way from it all, yet you are just a 7 minute drive from town, restaurants and shops. I like looking out into nature, from the house and deck and not staring into someone else's yard or seeing another house. A lot of homes in the the adjacent neighborhoods are closer to their neighbors. Great if you like neighbors, but not so much if you are looking for privacy and relaxation. We picked this neighborhood because of the feeling of seclusion and nature coming right up to the house and literally through the deck.

What makes this property unique

This property is a home. You feel that once you step inside. We have everything you would want, including a full and stocked kitchen. The pond in the springtime, walking the grounds during the day, the hot-tub in the evening, stargazing at night. There are only a handful of homes like this and even less that rent. We have a huge deck that extends right into the trees. The deck always has areas with shade and typically a cool breeze is felt throughout the year. We are working on trying to keep water in the pond year around so we can fish... but that is another chapter.
