About this property

Luxury Treetop Glamping w/ Hot Tub | Near Bryson City & Smoky Mountains

★ A treehouse safari tent built for two, high in the trees.

Canopy is a canvas safari tent perched on a private deck in the treetops at Elk Hollow, one of the most secluded spots on the property. Guests keep calling it a treehouse, and that's the feeling: birdsong, swaying treetops, and the Smokies in the distance.

This is glamping, not camping. The walls are canvas, but the comforts aren't: a full kitchen, a spa-style bath, heat and AC, and keyless entry. You'll fall asleep to rain on the canvas and wake to the woods, which is the point.

The most-praised part is the soaking. A private hot tub on the deck looks into the mountains, and inside there's a spa-style soaking tub with a walk-in rainfall shower. Soak under the stars, soak out of the weather, soak twice in a day.

🛋️ INSIDE
➝ Open, airy layout with a bohemian feel: layered textiles, warm wood, pops of color
➝ Cozy sitting area and French doors that open to the forest
➝ Full kitchen, stocked for cooking in or just keeping the coffee close
➝ Heat + AC, year-round

🛏️ WHERE YOU'LL SLEEP
➝ Plush aspen log king bed with screened windows letting in cool mountain air
➝ Spa-style indoor soaking tub
➝ Walk-in rainfall shower
★ The hot tub, soaking tub, and rainfall shower are the things guests rave about most

🌲 OUTSIDE
➝ Expansive wraparound deck, elevated among the trees
➝ Private hot tub with mountain views, open year-round
➝ Fire pit for starlit evenings
➝ Gas grill and a covered lounge
➝ String lights overhead after dark

♥ WHO IT'S FOR
Couples. Anniversaries, honeymoons, or a quiet weekend off the grid. It sleeps two and is secluded by design, so it's a getaway, not a party house. First time staying in a tent? Guests tell us this is the one that changes their mind.

🚗 GETTING HERE
The access road is steep with a turn along the way, so we recommend an AWD or 4WD vehicle, especially in rain. Plenty of guests make it in a 2WD, and there's a lower parking spot with a short uphill walk if you'd rather not drive the top. It's the trade for how private and elevated the tent feels. Five minutes from downtown Bryson City, right by the Deep Creek entrance to the Smokies.

➳ GOOD TO KNOW
It's a canvas safari tent, so you'll hear the rain, the birds, and a bit more of the outdoors than a cabin. There are about seven steps to enter, three at the front and four at the back. It's glamping with a full kitchen, spa bath, and heat and AC, not roughing it, but the canvas and the steps are real and worth picturing before you book.

Excellent place and just as expected/described! Nice attention to details inside and quality of furniture, supplies, etc. she thought of everything down to having coffee supplies ready and smores sticks if needed. Much appreciated so you don’t have to immediately go out and grab things once you arrive.

My husband and I were looking at staying at the Canopy, but there was some kind of glitch and it disappeared from VRBO for a bit. I reached out to Jeanette and she replied very quickly that it was still available and sent me a direct link to book. It was everything we wanted for our anniversary trip. It was beautiful, secluded, cozy, and made our trip so memorable! We will hopefully be back at some point!

Extreme comfort and privacy surrounded by woods!

This is the nicest vacation home I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. The property is gorgeous inside and out. The woodland view from the deck is beautiful. Amenities and furnishings are abundant and high-end. Plenty of towels and blankets. There are many fans and lights and two A/C units controlled by remote, allowing you to set the ambiance and temperature to any level. The kitchen is so well stocked and features a full-sized gas stove; we greatly enjoyed cooking two meals per day. Everything was impeccably clean. This unit is highly secluded; no other rental has a direct line of sight and traffic on the gravel road is light. It is 1 mile from the front door to the national park, which we walked to. We loved scavenging for dead wood around the property to have fires in the pit. There are countless fungi and insects we enjoyed meeting in the woods. The host was very responsive and friendly! Checkout process was so easy that we cleaned extra. I cannot recommend this unit strongly enough (along with any of the other tents & yurts which are part of Elk Hollow). If I am ever near Bryson City I won't hesitate to stay in one of these vacation homes!

Relaxing Stay

Stayed July 2023 for four nights just to getaway with the wife. THE GOOD The place is extremely nice and the amenities are great. It was very comfortable and very clean. It is quiet and somewhat secluded. The host communicated promptly and clearly. The property is less than two miles from Deep Creek and the Deep Creek Park for tubing, fishing, etc. (very beautiful area) and just a few minutes from downtown Bryson City and the Great Smoky Mountain Train. Before arriving I was worried about the drive up the mountain to the yurt. It looks a bit daunting, but I made it just fine with my two-wheel drive Tundra. THE NOT SO GOOD The yurt is nestled in the trees on the side of the mountain. When the foliage is in full bloom there is not a view of the surrounding mountains. We could barely see the mountains in the distant through some of the trees. It was somewhat disappointing because I was expecting a descent view based on the description provided. . We had no internet or tv service when we arrived, and we were not told we would have no service. The DirectTV guy showed up one morning to install the dish for the tv. We never got internet service. The Verizon cell reception was spotty at best. Overall, we greatly enjoyed our stay. I would highly recommend it and would stay there again.

About the host

Hosted by Kendra Jackson

Host profile image
Hi, I'm Jeanetta, your host at Elk Hollow.

After 34 years in the rental industry, and with my husband Mike behind me the whole way, I built the retreat I'd always wanted to stay in. Elk Hollow sits a mile from the Deep Creek entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, on quiet ground with a stream running through it, hardwoods overhead, and wild turkeys and deer that turn up like they own the place. They kind of do.

What I care about is that you arrive and exhale. That you feel relaxed, safe, and at home, with more to do nearby than you'll have time for.

I'm happiest outdoors. I have two children, six grandchildren, and friends I've kept my whole life, and most of my favorite memories were made in these mountains. I hope you make some here too.

Come see us.

Why they chose this property

Canopy is the treehouse, and it's built for two.

A canvas safari tent perched high on a private deck in the treetops, one of the most secluded spots on the property. Towering hardwoods, a stream you can hear, wildlife passing through. Time slows down here.

Fall asleep to rustling leaves, wake to birdsong, and spend the evening in the hot tub with the fire going and string lights overhead. A spa soaking tub inside, a rainfall shower, and mountain views from the deck.

First time in a tent or your fifteenth getaway, Canopy is the one that makes people rethink glamping.
