Too many fees—not nearly clean enough
The house was as described, the yard was perfect for my dogs, the couch was super comfortable, and the beds were decent. However, the cleanliness needs work. We found two dead roaches in the bathroom drawers, the house smelled like dogs and a lingering garbage, which we realized was coming from the super full garbage can in the front of the home. I never contacted the host to complain about this as I was only there for two nights and we didn’t have a window to allow for them to come back and clean.
The real annoyance though was the almost comical fees for every little thing and possible error that was looming over our entire weekend.
Don’t take the trash out? Fee (per bag)
Want the pool warm? Fee
Accidentally stain a towel? Fee
Didn’t turn off lights or load the dishwasher?? Fee
Leave a few minutes after check out?? Fee
It just felt excessive. These are expected tasks at most rental properties, but I’ve never been threatened to be charged for not complying with every little rule. It was bad form.
