maison beaufort is a piece of heaven
Our family spent a glorious week at maison beaufort. Everything about the experience was fantastic. Plenty of detailed great information provided ahead of time by Nancy and Gerry was an attentive host while we were there. The property has a breathtaking view from the pool area and the town of Beaufort is beautiful and quaint. We adopted suggestions provided to us ahead of time and they did NOT disappoint.

Everything you would expect from a French country home vacation
This house is spectacular. Elegantly comfortable but not ostentatious. Has everything you need. Location is perfect for any number of interesting and relaxed day trips. Ideal for 2 couples but 3 would also work. Reservation process was easy and owners were very helpful throughout. No hesitation to recommend to friends and family. No shortage of superb dining nearby.

Our Favorite Holiday to Share with Friends
Beautiful home nestled in the vineyards of Southern France. We have been in the Spring as well as in the Fall and both seasons have been beautiful but different. Spring with gorgeous poppy fields and pure green vineyards. Sept. had the harvesting of the grapes and the excitement of the activity. The nearby market is the best ever and you can purchase all your lunch and dinner requirements fresh. The location is perfect for day trips to go sightseeing as well as finding great eating spots. An exceptional holiday.

About the host

Host profile image
Four of us, friends who love France, bought and renovated this lovely home in 2003. We spend several weeks each year at Maison Beaufort with our own families but it's a great pleasure to share the house with others who want to experience life in a French village.
The house was in rough shape when we bought it but two of us are interior designers and we managed to oversee the renovations from Canada when we couldn't be there ourselves. We wanted the house to be all we imagined a French village house should be, so we decorated in soft Mediterranean colours and styles, keeping it simple but pretty, and as comfortable as possible. Establishing a garden was important, too, and we didn't know how fortunate we are to have such a spacious, sunny and private one. We don't have the room or the climate at home for the fruit trees, the giant fig tree, the almond trees, palms and bamboo we've planted in our French garden, so exciting! Most of all, we're very lucky to have found a housekeeper who takes care of the property as if it were her own, greeting each new visitor for us and making sure their stay is all they anticipated.

Why they chose this property

So many wonderful holiday essentials come together in this part of France - beautiful scenery, great food, amazing wines, friendly people, thousands of years of history, a variety of cultures, colourful markets, delightful towns and villages, easy travel and all kinds of shopping. We never tire of exploring the neighbourhood but the largest walled city in Europe, Carcassonne, is just 40 minutes away and the nearby Autoroute takes us to Barcelona in 2 1/2 hours. Even the TGV stops in Narbonne, which means Paris is just a 4 1/2 hour train trip away. Most of all, though, 320 days of sunshine every year means it's a perfect place to visit any time.

What makes this property unique

Holidaying in a small village is the best way to experience France the way the French do. We line up with our neighbours to buy bread in the morning; after dinner we walk the same country paths they do; we watch them working in the vineyards; we wave to them as they come back home for lunch; we visit them for wine tasting; we shop with them at their local market.
