About this property

Peace, Tolerance , ITAM, Televisa, UNAM, Frida & Diego studio.

ENGLISH
Peaceful, quiet, spiritual and tolerant, this house has been my family’s place of meditation and spiritual renovation, for many years ñ. Featured in many magazines, movies and commercials over the years, the house is on a property that has belonged to the same English/American family for 85 years. The family lives in a house at the other end of the garden, which is possibly one of the most beautiful in Mexico.
You have shared access to a spacious kitchen, and when you are breakfasting on the beautiful terrace you won't believe that you are in one of the largest cities on earth. Watch the birds and butterflies and see the amazing plants during the day, hear the hoot of the local family of owls at night.
The house has thick stone walls that keep the inside cool, even on the warmest days, and there are blackout curtains in the bedroom for sleeping late.
We are an an old "Pueblo", that has everything that you might want. Step out of the door onto the cobbled street, and in one direction you reach Altavista street, with Mexico's most exclusive shops and restaurants. The famous San Angel Inn restaurant is within walking distance, as is the studio that Frida Kahlo shared with Diego Rivera.
Walk in the other direction and in less than two blocks arrive at the famous "Bazaar del Sabado", featuring artwork, crafts, fabrics, paintings, clothing, glass and silver. Right there is the Plaza San Jacinto, which has coffee shops, museums, two ATM's, two taxi stands, a bank and convenience stores.
Within five minute walking distance are the top-rated "Bistro 83" restaurant and a dozen other restaurants. Choose Mexican, Swiss, French, International or Italian food. The "Mercado del Carmen" has every kind of food, from tacos to burgers, steaks to Lebanese food, pizzas and sushi, as well as cocktails and craft beers.
Another block away is a wonderful flower market, the local market, with the freshest vegetables in town, and all the atmosphere of a real market, as well as a bakery for your breakfast sweet rolls. Three pharmacies and two supermarkets are also an easy walk.

Perfect!
Christopher is a world-class host and this a SPECIAL place in a safe and comfortable neighborhood that's accessible by transit and for those of us with limited Spanish. Don't hesitate, y'all. This is the one. And, despite being incredibly refined, it's also very competitively priced. I happen to prefer this part of town to Roma/Condesa/Polanco. If you're new to CDMX, and want someplace quiet and not insufferably hip, it's a good bet. No notes! ;)

Old Mexico Charm
If you’re looking for a lot of people around you, noise, cement and skyscrapers, then don’t stay here! Perfect location for the best Mexico has to offer. Beautiful sunlit mornings coming through the trees and quiet, peaceful nights. We’ve been to Mexico dozens of times, but this is the place we’ll return!
