Wise Pines is a Holistic & Sustainable Inn/Hiker Hostel that offers a unique farm experience. In the rural woods of Vermont, this two level renovated barn offers two private rooms, each with queen beds and a bunk room of 8 beds (4 bunks) with a small seating area, and a large upper deck that over looks the property and its wild sunsets. The barn sits on 40 acres of land, complete with walking/hiking trails to enjoy. On the property is a pond, many fruit trees, chickens, and ducks.
The owners live in a separate house on the property with dogs that roam freely. (They are friendly but may bark upon your arrival and come running quickly- they are just wanting to say hi even though it may seem otherwise!)
There is a bathroom with two private toilets and showers, a small kitchenette with a sink, toaster oven, 10.1 cubic ft fridge, hot water kettle and coffee maker.
Please note that the Wise Pine's check-in office is a closed-off room in the barn with its own entrance in the back of the building.
The barn is spaced out from, but shares land with 2 treehouses (used as other lodging accommodations), and a nearby common building that is a shared space for all guests to relax, eat, and attend studio events.
There is only ONE lower bunk bed that is dog friendly as well as ONE of the private room beds. We ask that all dogs be leashed when not within a building. There is a $25 pet fee per dog. Cats and other animals are PROHIBITED. Also note that there is a *LIVE* electric fence that surrounds our farm animals.
Laundry units are available in the lodge. Please be prepared to bring your own detergent, should you need to use them, or purchase some from us for $1.
Yoga ( $15/person) are available upon request with enough notice. We have a seasonal farm stand (cash or venmo).
Please note that there is no cell phone service on the property. Be sure to turn on your WiFi calling PRIOR to arriving (while in cell range) so that you are able to make phone calls and text while here.
The property is in the woods rustic woods of Vermont, amongst all of its seasons. Please note that we do our best to maintain the property as weather arises, but the walkways, some of which are a bit steep, may be snowy, icy or otherwise. Please come prepared with a vehicle and shoes that are suited for the season of your arrival (mud, snow and ice) for both our property and the town road we live on. Checking in during daylight hours is advised.

Our stay was very peaceful and relaxing. The environment is amazing staying in a beautiful barn house in the woods. You feel so remote yet not too far from a market and restaurants in Woodstock. The vegan breakfast was amazing! I highly recommend staying at this property if your adventures take you to this neck of the woods.

Definitely a hidden gem. Our family of 4 enjoyed the stay at Wise Pines. Bunkhouse was a treat with plenty of space for the family. Probably more space than we really needed.
Process for making the reservation changes were not quite smooth and swift, but perhaps we could have done more research on their direct website. Overall, we enjoyed our time on the property and the local areas around.
The stay was exactly as mentioned. The bathroom got locked from the inside a few times, but the owner was kind enough to come in and fix it for us. Also it was a mistake from my part that I ignored, the living area/ entertainment space is a walk down the road. So the barn itself is just to sleep. If we wanted to grill/ hangout we had to use a common area which was mostly uninterrupted. Just a couple times, guests from the tree house would visit to use the bathroom. The place is clean. One recommendation is that, it would be nice to have a fire pit near the barn or the common area for open fire cooking or just do smores. The night sky looks AMAZING from the property though we had a lot of cloud cover during the time we went. Overall, the stay was good, fit the budget and a great place to visit with friends!

About the host

Wise Pines is a Holistic & Sustainable Inn/ Hiker Hostel that offers a unique farm experience. Lodging accommodations include two treehouses, a renovated barn (which can accommodate 12 people) and a hostel lodging option with two private rooms and an eight bed bunkroom (in the barn). Owners, Chelsey, Jon and their two kids, live on the property with their two dogs, chickens and goats. Goats are natural escape artists and love to explore the property to eat trees and more grass. You may see them running around or taking an afternoon nap on the hill, outside of their fenced in area.
