We had a wonderful stay at Cunard House. What an awesome location. Pictou is a beautiful town. It’s picturesque, the people are so friendly, and the food is good. We could not have asked for better hosts. Hope to visit again.

Well maintained and beautiful. Had the best time sitting on front porch looking at the ocean talking to everyone as they walked by. Our host Ron was wonderful. A fountain of local information. Would go back again in a heartbeat.
Wonderful historic property set in a quant little Nova Scotia town. The rental was clean, well appointed, and comfortable. Owner met us at the door as we arrived and gave us a good overview of the amenities. Highly recommended!
We were very impressed with our accommodations, the location was perfect. There was road construction but that didn’t affect our experience. We both absolutely loved it there and we hope we are welcome back again!!

About the host
Hosted by Ron Arnold
A retired school principal and his teacher wife-and-former-sweetheart spent the last 8 years renovating this 1832 office building built by Samuel Cunard, the founder of Cunard Steamship Lines. Before that we worked in schools in three provinces, one territory and two countries.
Why they chose this property
One side of my family descended from Ship Hector settlers. We were looking for a retirement project in the Maritimes and this building needed some work, was located on the harbour and was empty. Kind of a no brainer!
What makes this property unique
Cunardhouse is a piece of classic Maritime architecture and turned out to be a piece of history as well. Looking onto the harbour on the second floor are three crooked windows that make it stand out in all the old photos of the waterfront. They present a unique 'face' and we think we know their story.
