Loved our stay, very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed the serenity, sunsets, fishing, bonfire area and hot tub. Beds were comfy, showers were clean modern and roomy. Everything was wonderful, loved this property
The cabin was exactly as advertised. A beautiful, secluded location perfect for a getaway. The house was very clean with all of the basic amenities provided. The host provided detailed information and instructions that got us to the property with no problems and knowing exactly what to expect. Additionally, Brian was very helpful and responsive to any questions we had for the weekend. Highly recommend this property.
Location was beautiful. Couldn’t utilize outdoor space as much as we would’ve liked because it was overgrown. We did enjoy the front porch overlooking the James!
Very clean house inside and out. Beautiful views and walks through the woods along the river. Hot tub and fire pit (indoor and outdoor) were so cozy and wonderful. I have bookmarked to return because it was such a great place to stay.
Overall, this was an outstanding and lovely stay. I will absolutley be staying here again if available during my next visit. The only problem, and I hesitate to report because it was such a great location and s related to following direction's. Absolutely follow the
We had a real enjoyable time, and everything was as advertised. I enjoyed walking down to the river, and we sat on the porch for beautiful sunsets. The cabin was nice and clean, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. It was extremely hot outside during our stay. Thank you so much for everything!
This cottage is perched above the river on a bluff in a very private setting. Enjoyed soaking in the hot tub while watching the sunset. It’s out in the country, so you need to plan accordingly, but has everything you need once you are there. Took daily walks with the dog, and enjoyed the private setting. We’d stay here again without hesitation.
Have quite a long driveway to the cabin. Far in the woods overlooking the river. Peaceful and comfortable cabin it was a nice stay and pet friendly too.
We stayed at this cabin while attending a nearby dog training workshop. The cabin was fantastic and very secluded. The dog loved running the property and exploring. The cabin was clean and very comfortable. Brian, the property owner was very responsive and would answer any question we had within minutes. We hope to attend the same workshop next year and hope to stay at this property again.
We had a wonderful time at Riverview Cabin paddle boarding in the river, relaxing in the hot tub, and roasting marshmallows over the fire pit. The location is extremely private and serene but close enough to some fun amenities. We especially enjoyed Bryd Cellars winery. The cabin itself is very comfortable and well-equipped. We hope to return soon!
Loved the property! Matresses are FIRM but a small miss that is easily overshadowed by the beautiful view, porch, hottub, bathrooms and the cutest kitchen! We loved watching the trains pass by from across the river! Such a sweet surprise!
The house was very up to date, clean and directions were easy to follow to find it. There are no closets and towels/sheets are not provided, so something to be aware of. Host was very responsive and helpful. View was beautiful and hot tub was lovely. If you are looking for a very secluded place with a nice view, but updated kitchen/TVs this place is great!
I was looking for aweekend getaway - a quaint place to lay my head, move at my pace, and feel disconnected from the hustle for a few days. Riverview Cabin was exactly what i needed and i couldn't have imagined better. It was simple, clean, quiet, and everything i didn't know I needed. Within the first 15 minutes, we knew we would have a fantastic weekend. By the time we left, we were ready to book our next trip here. The views were spectacular from the porch. Everything is a described. The river is a little hike to get to, but well worth it if you're up for an adventure and enjoy the outdoors. Just making it down the path to sit on the rock at sunset will change your life. We will be returning, probably way more than what we would have imagined.
Riverview Cabin is set high up on a hillside above the James River. This rental had a beautiful view of the river and was very secluded and quiet. We had our family gathering here and wanted to do a lot of fishing since we all love to fish. The cabin was very clean and stocked well with most kitchen appliances. Coffee maker didn't work but there was a Keurig that did. Loved the quiet this location afforded. If you choose Riverview Cabin, you must have an SUV to get up to it as the driveway is very very long and bumpy. Also, the path down to the water is very steep and difficult to get back up if you are elderly or have young children. The rock on the landing is not flat but jagged so wear good sneakers. The best thing about this rental was the peace, quiet and seclusion. We all enjoyed our stay.

Hi Susan! I'm so sorry about the grade on the walk to the River. I agree it's a little steep, though many people have walked up and down with no trouble. But we are going to be installing steps there over the winter, so access to the river will be much easier next year. Thanks for staying with us!
Brian
The peaceful setting high above the James was only interrupted by the infrequent passing freight trains across the river. The sunsets were colorful and the clear moonless nights burst with stars, especially looking up from the hot tub.
The cabin was as advertised; comfortable bedrooms, modern bathrooms, well-stocked kitchen (pots, plates pans, utensils, etc). Central Air/Heat worked fine. The host, Brian, provides clear timely instructions on Dos and Don'ts, both before you arrive and at the cabin itself.
We visited a couple of nearby wineries (Elk Island and Byrd Cellars) and a brewery (James River), plenty of shops and took advantage of the Food Lion in Scottsville for groceries.
My only criticism, which kept me from all 5 stars, was the trail to the river could use a little TLC at the bottom of the steps. A half hour with a mini chain saw would do the trick in clearing the deadfall from the path.
Don't let the critique keep you away, as this is a lovely property and locale that needs to be enjoyed.
