The house is situated close to the beach which you can
see from inside. There is great light from many windows and it has a well equipped
kitchen. The house is lovely and tastefully furnished. The beds are very comfortable. It
really felt like home. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Exactly as advertised. Great beach house. The beach that is only steps away is amazing. Sunbathing, tide pools. Ocean ave and the shops and restaurants are a short drive away. A little too far to walk but easy to get there.

The location is secluded and usually very quiet. The nearby beach is beautiful and the house is ok. The main issue we had was that the rental does not have backup power for power outages. We had to end our vacation early due to an extended power outage. We tried to tough it out, but the purpose of the vacation was to relax and living without power quickly becomes stressful. Both vrbo rentals on either side of the house and the one across the street all have backup power generators. This is a safety issue especially in Carmel where there is at least one power outage a year. There was also not enough emergency lighting for the size of the house, and although the fireplace worked it did not put out any heat. Another issue was that the upstairs bedroom is a loft-style room. There is no privacy and because there are no shades on any of the bedroom windows, skylight, or living/dining room windows, the bedroom gets bright very early in the morning. I’ve stayed in many rentals in Carmel and while the neighborhood is very nice, this house was overpriced for its condition and amenities. We also ended up having to pay full taxes and fees for our stay, and half of the total rental fee even though we stayed 4 nights out of 11. I wouldn’t recommend this house in its current condition or the host.

Thank you for sharing this feedback.
Our home is located in a quiet, secluded Carmel neighborhood close to town, and many guests appreciate the peaceful setting and proximity to the beach.
We understand how disruptive a prolonged regional power outage can be.
We were consistently communicating throughout the outage, offered sincere apologies, and did everything reasonably possible to assist during an unforeseen utility failure outside of our control.
Only one nearby rental does have a generator, and we understand the noise during the outage was frustrating for you. The other surrounding homes are primarily owner occupied and not frequent rentals.
Unfortunately, during a regional outage there are limits to what can be resolved in real time, and we regret that this impacted the stay.
The fireplace is fully functional and does provide heat, and its use is now more clearly described in the listing.
Please note that Vrbo’s taxes, fees, and refund policies are set by the platform and local regulations, not by individual homeowners, and apply regardless of early departure due to circumstances such as regional outages. Even so, we gave a large refund.
This home is a great fit for many guests seeking tranquility and nature, though it may not suit every preference. We appreciate the many positive reviews from guests who have enjoyed memorable stays here and sincerely apologize again that this experience fell short due to circumstances beyond our control.
