This beautiful condo is located in the heart of downtown Kailua-Kona. Two bedrooms with private baths, and king size beds and flat screen TV. The loft bedroom opens to the private sun deck with stunning panoramic views.The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for preparing Island meals or great pupus. There is a poolside BBQ for outdoor cooking, designated, covered parking, and is located in a secure building. You can watch the sunrise over Hualalai Mountain from the private sun deck, and upstairs bed. The building is located directly across from the ocean with great access to the water. This unit is a perfect place for a romantic getaway or for two couples.The village lights are beautiful at night from the front lanai and back sun deck. You will be within walking distance from many restaurants, bars and shopping and no car is needed to get around town, although one is recommended to see the entire Island. The Kona Alii is the premiere condominium in Kailua-Kona.

Fantastic Condo downtown!

This is an excellent place in downtown Kailua-Kona! Very clean and well stocked for your vacation! Check in was easy , and could not have asked for a netter place to stay!

Location, location, location. and Mark & Mary - were very responsive and accommodating, great hosts. We were walking distance all restaurants on Alii Drive. We were there for 14 days and never ate in the same restaurant twice and the food was great. The condo unit is very well supplied with everything you need. Alii is noisy but quiets down in the evening and worth it for the location. Beaches nearby. The beach at the Pier is great for just a relaxing time and has decent, easy snorkling and is an easy walk. Magic Sands is walking distance and there is a free shuttle to take you to other places. Just minutes away from golf and other beaches.

Great Stay!!

This was our first experience staying in a VRBO. We were pleasantly impressed with the penthouse and all the amenities!! The place was immaculate, beds comfy, great location for restaurants!! We found it great to be able to do a little laundry! Having our designated parking spot was a huge plus! Mary the owner of this property was very friendly, and accommodating! We highly recommend this property and we would definitely stay here again!!

This was our second stay at this condo. It's just great all the way around. Sunsets from the lanai, good ocean view from both downstairs and upstairs lanai/deck. Owners very responsive to questions/issues. New very comfortable sofa set since last spring. Plenty of space and well appointed. It's our favorite condo in Kona.

Best location for a Condo

Good location. Condo was well supplied. Walking distance to many restaurants. The hamburgers next door at the “Island Ono Loa grill” were the BEST! We had them 4 different times during our month stay.

Penthouse with an amazing view

The place is amazing! What a view. I love the open feeling and the breeze that blows through. It's so convieniently located right downtown. It's an easy walk to many restaurants and shops and of course the market where fresh vegetables and fruit are available an every inexpensive. It's such a comfortable place too.

We stayed in the apartment from Dec 22-25 2012 for our honeymoon and we had the best time ever. The apartment is perfectly located with restaurants, coffe shops etc next door. We saw an amazing sunrise from the bedroom upstairs wich opens to a large roof terrace, and spent many evenings with a bottle of champaign on the lanai downstairs with ocean view. The apartment is very spacious, very clean and the upper bedroom was brand new. All in all we had an awesome stay in Kona, we love Hawaii!

Absolute bliss!

Wonderful property, clean, organized, well equipped with everything needed for a short or long stay. The beach gear was great to have, I know it’s possible to rent snorkeling gear and chairs, but having it available in the room was fabulous, especially the coolers. The humidity was a lot for someone who comes from a state with very low humidity so the A/C in the rental was a blessing. Sitting on the balcony, watching the waves while I drank my coffee in the morning was my favorite activity. Easy access to the property. Restaurants and shopping within walking distance. We will absolutely stay there again!

Wonderful condo

We really enjoyed our stay. The condo was lovely and well stocked. The owners were very responsive to questions. This is the first time we have stayed in town and were expecting lots of noise from Alii Drive and nearby restaurants. We were surprised by how little noise there was. The views from both decks were great. We slept in the loft bedroom and really appreciated the AC. We only used it at night and it quickly and quietly cooled the bedroom area. AC was available downstairs, but we didn't use or even need it there. The pool was large enough for my husband to do his daily lap swims. We would stay here again.

Great Unit in Prime Location

Mary and Mark were super welcoming, and gave us our privacy when we wanted it while also being responsive when we needed it. The location was super convenient in the heart of everything, and the unit itself was exactly as listed. Actually, we were a little nervous going in about the loft concept, but it ended up being no problem at all - it might as well have a been an actual second bedroom. The unit is also well equipped with A/C, which we didn't think twice about, but our friends directly next door didn't have A/C at all and needed to use floor fans, making it super uncomfortable for them to sleep at night. Would book again.

Better than the Pictures + A Perfect Location

My family of 4 (wife + two kids, ages 18 and 20) just spent 8 nights at this great condo. Not only was it clean but it had plenty of unexpected essentials (TP, laundry soap, coffee filters, tons of towels) and extras (snorkel equipment, beach chairs, beach umbrella, coolers). View of the beach is actually better than it looks in the pictures. The balcony is perfectly placed to see the incredible sunsets (that somehow last close to an hour!), while the other area catches the morning sunshine. Pool was bigger than the comments made it seem (though since it feels like peak tourism hasn't kicked in yet, perhaps it feels smaller when its more crowded). Last big plus is the location. So many restaurants, bars, and stores are within walking distance, plus you can get anywhere in town or on the island from the trolley stop across the street. First trip to Hawaii (in celebration of my daughter's high school graduation) made perfect in part by the A+ accommodation. Almost forgot the great communication from start to finish!

Great experience, perfect location.

The condo was everything and more that we could have asked for. Two lanais, one in the sun, one in the shade. Views of the ocean from both sides. Laundry, 3 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen. I have only one suggestion: The downstairs bedrooms was very warm and we couldn't cool it down. I think that is because it faces south, getting the most heat, and the door is the only opening so it doesn't get much exposure to the cool air coming from the upstairs air conditioner, despite having all fans on.

We arrived very late at night so I was thankful that Mary had sent me detailed information on retrieving the key from the lockbox. The condo was very clean and very well stocked. The only thing missing was a packet coffee for our first morning. However, we had a great breakfast and coffee at Kai across the street. The only thing I would suggest is to leave instruction on how to turn on the tv and where to put recycling. Mary was fantastic to deal with and always answered my questions very promptly. The location of this condo was spot on and we had some great views. I would definitely recommend this condo to others. Mahalo!

Convenient location!

Property had a really nice pool and the unit had coolers, beach chairs, towels, and snorkeling gear which was great! Very open floor plan and most of all, the location was awesome! Step out of the building and you had restaurants, shops, and farmers market within 5 minutes walking distance. Bathrooms on the main floor a little outdated but clean and was a huge plus to have 3 of them for our family of 4. Definitely would stay again!

A perfect home away from home in PARADISE!!

I love this location. You basically walk out the building and have restaurants and views all around you. A few nights the noise from the restaurants or people from the restaurant were noisy quite late into the night but given the location that is not surprising. Mark and Mary have done an amazing job at updating&decorating and keeping the condo supplied. I would definitely recommend and I would definitely book again! Thanks Mark and Mary for sharing your home!! Oh and the beds are very comfortable too!! And the roof top deck is amazing for morning coffee!!!

A perfect stay!!!

This condo had everything thing we needed. The owners we so responsive. The location was perfect! Coffee on the lanai every morning watching the waves was so relaxing. Condo is conveniently located in town. There is even a little beach across the street. Would definitely stay again.

Mark and Mary live in Birdcreek, Alaska, a small rural community outside of Anchorage. Mark is a retired electrician and Mary is recently retired. We just celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary and hope to have many more in Kona. We have two grown daughters and four grandchildren. We enjoy skiing and biking in Alaska and live in a somewhat isolated area where we spend a good deal of time driving. While we're in Kona we enjoy the fact that we can head right out the front door and walk to our favorite restaurants and bars with no driving! We love our condo. We hope our guests will enjoy it as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

We have been visiting this building since 1974. Mark's parents own another penthouse in the same building. We were so happy to buy here because it feels like home to us and our family. Our girls learned to swim in the pool and now our grandkids are learning in the same pool. It's quiet, clean and in a wonderful location. It is definitely THE premiere condo building in Kona Town.

What makes this property unique

One of the benefits of this unit is it's location! You are able to walk all around town and there are nice walking trails near by. You can have breakfast on the lanai and listen to the waves crash. With a rental car you are able to drive 2 hours south to Volcanos National Park or an hour north to some of the best white sand beaches in the Islands.
