Thank you for choosing The Captain and Crew Quarters at Apple Valley Lake for your Knox County getaway. The whole lower level is yours to enjoy as well as the fenced-in pet friendly* back yard and the upper rear deck (access from lower rear level). This is not a shared home! The upstairs (main floor) consists of 4 commercial office space units (non-residential). You can expect very little activity upstairs on the weekends and weekday evenings. The entrance to the Quarters is located on the lower rear of the property. You follow the new, private, ADA compliant (no stairs) cement walkway/ramp located on the north side of the building (the side away from 36/Coshocton Rd facing Witt’s Frozen Custard/Subway) down the north side, through the new fence gate backyard entrance, and then follow the path to the lower back patio/entrance. It's a short walk with no stairs. We have spent well over a year on the interior and exterior of the lower level to prepare for your stay. Our goal was to have a very enjoyable space with modern and extra conveniences/comforts at an affordable price. This private property located in the front of Apple Valley is minutes to the Apple Valley Golf Course, Gambier and Kenyon College, Kokosing Camp and Canoe Livery, and walking distance to the Shell Gas Station, The Pub at Apple Valley, Apple Valley Lake, and of course Subway and Witt’s Frozen Custard is in the adjacent property right up the street on Anchor Drive. Knox and Coshocton counties also provide many other indoor and outdoor adventures outside of this immediate area that are just a short drive away. Many of those are listed in the booklet provided in the Quarters. We are a local family owner/operator of Knox County and hope you enjoy The Captain and Crew Quarters as much as we do.

Very comfortable! The beautiful Christmas tree and holiday touches throughout really made the stay memorable. The hot tub and fire pit were super great bonuses and the shower was perfection!

Everything was perfect, hosts were responsive, lovely stay.
This was a wonderful place for our family and dogs to stay while we were visiting for an athletic event at Kenyon. The home is well stocked with everything we needed and everything our dogs needed too! It's clean and comfortable. We'll be back.
This was the perfect place to stay for our family of 4. It was very convenient and close to all of our other families homes! The house was very nice and well taken care of! 100% recommend!

While it is under businesses, there was no one up there the whole weekend. It was quiet and relaxing. Really is a nice place to stay. Food and gas stations close by. I would definitely chose to stay here again.

Property is well maintained. Very clean and comfortable. The hosts were very responsive to any questions we had. Hot tub was great. We would definitely stay again. Only downside is that it is beside a main road so vehicle traffic is loud when outside, that wasn't an issue for us, just something to be aware of.
Stayed here for a week with the family while in town for a Nationals Competition. Good location, clean, quick/easy check-in/out process and the Owners were nice/responsive. Hot tub was a plus, and all maintenance items were provided. Wasn't sure about sharing the house with commercial space upstairs but was never an issue. The kitchen layout was a bit awkward but provided the necessities. Missed not having a washer/dryer by the end of the week but overall a good option for a quick stay when in the area.
Start to finish everything was wonderful. We visit Apple Valley at least once a year and plan to stay here each time. The property was very safe despite being on the main road. The tall fence provided the perfect amount of privacy in the yard for my toddler. Inside everything was exactly like the pictures and very spacious. Owners provided advance notice of check in instructions and promptly responded to my 2 questions about the hot tub during my stay. I have no negative feedback to provide, just a thank you!
Dean, Denise, and Matt started acquiring and working on commercial and residential properties in 2021. We know own 4 vacation rentals in Knox County, 1 commercial building, and two permanent rentals. Dean and Denise have lived in Knox County since 2008, and in Ohio most of their lives. Matt has lived in Ohio all of his life. We have done and continue to do much of the work ourselves to get our properties ready for our guests and/or tenants, which can take a very long time as we are not about shortcuts. This allows us to put our own touches and love into all of our properties (we are very picky for our brand), and we believe this is why we receive so many 5 Star reviews. Denise is our full-time property manager for all properties, our interior decorator, our lawn service, our snow service, our gardener, our book keeper, manages our cleaners as well as cleans our properties herself, and all around amazingly organized hard working gal. Dean manages the online booking and marketing, and both Matt and Dean do all the heavy construction, heavy lifting, updates and repairs to our properties. We do have contractors that handle work that requires licensed professionals, but anything else within our wheelhouses we try to handle ourselves carefully and with purpose. We all enjoy the outdoors, we are all are in love with everything Knox County has to offer, and we hope you find the fruits of our labors very enjoyable.

Denise and Dean have a primary residence in the Apple Lake community. They love the lake, the amenities, the public golf course, and the great outdoors. With it's central location to Apple Valley, Gambier, The Kokosing River, the Mohican River, The Mohawk River, and so many other great outdoor activities/experiences guests can enjoy in the immediate area, as well as the commercial office spaces/suites in the upper level, and the potential for a vacation rental on the lower level, this seemed the perfect property to purchase and invest some time and money into in order to see our vision to come true. We hope you enjoy the area and the comforts unit provides as much as we do.
What makes this property unique
Knox county is absolutely beautiful. The unit is centrally located in front of Apple Valley near Gambier/Kenyon College, The Gap Trail, The Kokosing River, the Mohican River, The Mohawk River, The Falls at Honey Run, Mohican State park, Roscoe Village, Amish Country, and so much more. With so many great indoor and outdoor activities and experiences for guests to enjoy, there just isn't enough time or room to list them all (as much as we could is listed in the guest booklet located in the unit). This unit is pet friendly, sleeps 4-6, has amenities such as a walk-in floor to ceiling tile shower, hot tub, fire pit, and is walking distance to Subway, Witt's Frozen Custard, the Shell Gas Station, and The Pub at Apple Valley for food and entertainment. There is no other unit in the immediate area that can reasonably make the same claims. We hope you enjoy Knox County and the comforts and amenities our unit provides as much as we do.
