Walden’s View is in a private, elevated location with beautiful mountain views. It is perfect for a couple or a small family.
It is a true log cabin with all-wood tongue and groove interior and salvaged wood floors, a cathedral ceiling and wood spiral staircase. The kitchen boasts reclaimed barnwood cabinetry and stainless appliances.
From the front deck you can listen to the tree frogs, or hear an occasional moo from a cow or gobble from a wild turkey in the valley below. Fireflies light the summer night sky and the scent of honeysuckle fills the air in the spring.
In the living room, curl up in front of the wood-burning stone fireplace on the sleeper sofa. Firewood can be purchased from grocery stores in town. Entertainment includes a 65” plasma smart tv with Blu-ray.
The cozy queen bedroom is on the main level and has an LCD flat screen satellite tv. The main level has a full bathroom with shower/tub combination as well as a separate half bath. These are both located directly off the living room and the half bath is the doorway right next to the master bedroom.
The circular staircase leads to the loft where you can play pool while watching the game on a flatscreen tv. A second bedroom and bath with shower are also upstairs. This bedroom provides a twin over full futon bunk bed, and a flatscreen tv with an XBox and plenty of games.
The front deck offers a gorgeous view, seating, rocking chairs, and a gas grill. Return from a busy day at Dollywood or from hiking through the Park, turn on the string lights and some music, grill a steak, pour a drink and relax in the hot tub!
From “Walden’s View” you can be in Pigeon Forge in 25 minutes for all the action, or go to the quieter side, where you’ll find Townsend, Cades Cove and an entrance to the National Park. In either direction the drive through the valley is stunning. Whaley’s, an upscale grocery store, is just 6 miles away! Kroger is about two miles farther.
We live 4 hours from our cabin, so our friends at 'Great Cabins in the Smokies' manage the property locally. This means you can rest assured there is local assistance if you have any problems.
The cabin also has wireless internet and internet-based phone service, so long distance calls are no problem.
Note: Our cabin is at the top of the road, which is what provides such a beautiful view. It is pretty steep and was recently paved (May 2021). We have no issues getting to the cabin in a car or an EV. All wheel drive is not necessary.
PETS: We accept dogs (no more than 2) with a MAX WEIGHT of 50 lbs each. No exceptions. Please do not request a booking with a dog of over 50 lbs. Our pet fee is a per pet rate.

About the host
Hosted by David & Perry Anne Scott
We purchased our cabin in 2011 and enjoyed getting it ready to use and to share. We named it “Walden’s View” to honor the incredible beauty of the Walden's Creek area in which it is located. We live in Atlanta and take every opportunity to come up to the cabin and make improvements, so it is always getting better. We want our guests to feel as delighted when they walk in as we do every time we arrive.
Why they chose this property
We love the mountains and our three kids love all the attractions in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We spent two years looking for just the right place! It is a blessing to leave the traffic of Atlanta behind and 'head for the hills'!
What makes this property unique
We love the National Park and Cades Cove, renting boats at Douglas Lake, and going into Pigeon Forge for attractions and dining. The best part is getting out of the city and into the quiet, peaceful surroundings of the mountains.
