About this property
The Ranger Cabin - Luxury Off-Grid
This cabin is rich with history as the original National Forest Ranger Outpost dating back to the late 1800's
It is the perfect starting point for all your outdoor adventures and is in one of the heaviest snowfall areas of the Black Hills. You'll have immediate access to ATV and snowmobile trails, adventure moto, hiking, mountain bike trails, endless gravel biking, hunting, and more.
This property is so deep in the National Forest, it is solar powered. However, that does not mean rustic!
There is also plenty of parking.
This cabin is not just a place to stay, it is a UNIQUE AND REAL EXPERIENCE far into the national forest. It is not located a development, it is off by itself. As a result, the absolute silence that you will witness is something to behold. Are you up for the adventure? Please message us with questions.
Experience complete off grid living at 6,000 feet with every convenience of a modern home, including Starlink internet, smart TV for streaming movies after a long day of fun, and propane heat. The entire property is solar powered, yet it runs so seamlessly it’s hard to even tell it’s 7 miles from the nearest power line. The Ranger Cabin was built in 1900 and has been completely remodeled while maintaining its original charm. It can comfortably sleep 4 in the main home with the convertible daybed sectional on the 4 season porch. There is also a detached bunkhouse that features a full/twin bunk bed with storage, electricity, and propane heat.
Through the remodel, the foremost goal was to create a comfortable and cozy space that allows you to feel part of the woods. The furnishings are high end - RH chairs, Inside Weather Sofa, Purple 3 king mattress, and many hand made accent pieces. If you are looking for a break from a busy world, this is an oasis and what it was designed to be!
Other highlights:
- Privacy, this cabin is in a remote area of the National Forest.
- Easy access to Motorized Off Road Trails and hike/bike/horse only trails.
- Handmade and heated tile floors.
- Two person tub/shower.
- Gas stove in the master for warming the room on chilly mornings.
- Repurposed wood pulled from the original structure that dates back to the mid-1700's.
- Bright star views uninterrupted by man-made light.
- Large stone parking area with plenty of space for trailers.
WINTER ACCESS - We maintain Tinton Road through the winter. There can be a few inches of snow accumulation on the road between plowing. Due to this, we suggest guests have all-wheel/4-wheel drive.
Snowmobilers - Groomed trails are accessible directly from the cabin. No need to haul your sleds to a parking lot.
Guest access
This cabin is for those who want to immerse themselves in the beauty of the Black Hills. Guests will have access to approximately 10 acres of property immediately surrounding the Ranger Cabin and 2 million acres of national forest just outside the fence. Guests are asked to respect any locked gates, as these areas are private.
