The Cottage was incredible cozy and warm. The view of the harbour stunning waking up in the mornings and the interior was a great collection of unique items. All together a great place and would definitely recommend for renting and going back myself. The check in and out very easy also great for walking. Loved it!

Family get together for parents anniversary

Beautiful location and property. Close to lots of activities and easy to walk to most of the highlights in st johns. Overall an excellent experience and I would stay again.

We had a great experience at the Battery Cottage. The cottage was cute, cozy and clean. The rooms were spacious and lots of clean linen available. Beautiful view of the harbour and walking distance to Signal hill, The Battery Café, and downtown restaurants and shops. The host (David) was fantastic and checked in periodically and provided detailed check-in/check out instructions.

Great location and atmosphere

We loved staying at the battery cottage. It was exactly as described. So close to do the signal hill hike every day, and walkable to downtown. Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for a relaxing few nights. Loved the cute cottage asthetic and views of the harbour. The free-standing bathtub was a highlight.

Ship are coming in and out❤️

Overall very nice place to stay, stairs are a little different for older people. Attention to a few things 1 living room blind don’t work 2 plug in for vacuum doesn’t work

Iconic Battery Cottage|Signal Hill|Sea&City Views

Absolutely terrible place to stay if its cold outside. The cold air of the wind leaked in through the basement and up through the access hatch in the floor as well as all the front windows of the house. The heaters were unable to keep up to the cold of the wind. There is a fire place there for heat but there was no wood provided when I checked in. I had an awful night there, nearly froze to death.

Lovely location, poorly maintained property

When spending over $400 US per night one expects a bit more than this place. Broken faucets, a bathroom sink that doesn't drain, broken shades (making it hard to enjoy the view), broken shower fixture, a toilet that runs. The place felt generally unloved. More suitable for college students than grownups. And the photos online are designed to make it look twice the size. It's actually a bit claustrophobic. Online it tells you average price is $196 per night. When booking it turns into over $400. Think twice! You'll also find the all night ship engines and lights less than relaxing.

scenic view of noisy harbour

I got exactly what I was expecting from this property, something that had a scenic view that was within walking distance of downtown. What I had not expected was the noise associated with the working docks and I was awoken by 7 am by all the noise every morning. The south-facing blinds were useless in the main bedroom and the living room. This meant that there was nothing to create some privacy or to block the early light - and more importantly - the flood lights from the ships docked 24 hours a day. My sleep was very disrupted by the light and the noise. My trip was delayed by two days due to a major snowstorm (as happens in St. John's in February) and there was no flexibility to push back my reservation or cancel those two days. So, I ended up paying for two days I couldn't use. I was disappointed by that, even though it respected the letter of our reservation. Although the view and the house were exactly what I wanted, the sound and light pollution from the harbour and the lack of flexibility by the host mean that I am unsure if I would rent here again.
