The photos accurately represent the interior of the unit and was furnished as described. The apartment appeared generally clean and inviting; however, the couch and dining chair upholstery could benefit from cleaning, and the ironing board cover was stained.Communication before arrival could be improved. We were advised that the address, directions, parking instructions, and key information would be sent 1-2 days before check-in but did not receive them until I contacted the host at check-in. Several blinds had broken slats, and two would not fully lower over windows adjacent to the fire escape, creating privacy concerns at night. The deadbolt did not appear secure. Part of the wood surrounding the lock broke away when the door was opened. The building's interior common areas were dirty and poorly maintained. The cleaning expectations were confusing. Rules state that additional fees may be charged for an "unreasonable mess" and that "This is NOT a hotel," but no checkout instructions were provided, leaving us to guess what was expected beyond leaving the unit tidy. Checkout was frustrating because the keypad on the lockbox used to return the building key was extremely difficult to read in sunlight. A different lockbox would improve the experience.Overall the unit matched the listing and provided the advertised amenities. Improved communication, clearer checkout expectations, and greater attention to maintenance, privacy, and security would improve the guest experience.
