Welcome to the Bird house Studio Apartment nestled on the second floor of our Boulderdash Barn! You will feel perched on top of the Oak trees while relaxing on the covered gated patio enjoying the birds eye view of this hidden gem. The studio apartment has a queen bed and a full sized pull-out sofa bed. All linens, kitchen essentials, & a small BBQ Pit are provided for a comfortable stay. Open floor plan with a full-size kitchen and a spa rustic en suite bath. The shower features a Rainhead shower system. The apartment is also pet-friendly! Bird Enthusiasts will love bird-watching Cardinals, Hummingbirds, Doves, Robbins and many more! The Bird house is the perfect love birds getaway. Boulderdash has a lot to offer! Texas Hill Country nature and abundant wildlife, Feed the deer with the complimentary jar of corn we provide our guests. Frolic in the crystal clear Median River or hike the River banks and massive boulders. Be aware that river levels vary widely. Sometimes we have a lake, sometimes a river, and sometimes a stream. Check for recent photos on our FB page or on Google to get an idea of the river levels.Please note, the apartment has stairs to access. not suitable for small children, bad knees, or other impairments that will prevent you from climbing the stairs.check our home page for current river/lake levels and local events and area things to do. Bandera "the cowboy capital" is just 10 minutes away and offers great eateries, music, and shops! The Bird House Apartment is super popular so secure your getaway quickly!

What a way to unplug and recharge

Very clean & peaceful. I really enjoyed all the birds and how close of a walk it was to the water. The host was very attentive and friendly. I hope to be returning soon. Thank you!

I truly enjoyed my stay here. I loved having the river there, the peacefulness, and all the wildlife. I also love the dog friendly environment. Sorry one of my dogs wasn't very friendly. She is a rescue I just got maybe two months before we went and still needs more socialization. I wish I would have taken more time to see all the activities they offered, but I was there to spend time with family who lives in Bandera. This was still a wonderful stay and I plan on returning soon. However, I feel the listing is a little misleading. The pictures and phrasing, in the listing, make it sound like there are two small bedrooms. If you really pay attention, you catch a small sentence referring to it as a studio, but that seemed to be about it. Just know The Birdhouse is one open studio, not a two bedroom like the pictures made us expect. Other than that, thank you for the wonderful stay!!! Everything else was wonderful! The hosts were very kind, polite, and keep everything clean and tidy. I will be back for another stay. Hopefully sooner than later.

Hey Nicholas, thanks for pointing out that there are not 2 bedrooms. I have tried multiple times on the platform to correct that without success, we have gone ahead and added more notes so that people are aware that this is indeed a "Studio". Thanks so much for staying!

Lyn Is from Iowa & Carol-anne is from Alberta Canada, we bought this property in 2017 with hopes of retiring here which we did in 2021! We are both pretty social and really love meeting new people. This property has been such a blessing that we couldn't help but share it with others!

Why they chose this property

The neighborhood is not what sold us, and you will understand that when you come. Lyn and I are always looking for a diamond in the rough, and I believe we found it here! We are both very involved in trying to get this area cleaned up, and back to its previous glory! Lyn is very involved with the POA as well as our local VFD. I run a community facebook page and organize trash pick ups & fund raise for our dirt roads. We both have a vision and see Lake Medina Shores only getting better in the next 5 years! The area is truly beautiful.

What makes this property unique

Boulderdash has very unique topography! It is 2 level, our Barn and RV sites are up on top of the limestone cliff, and our cabin and tent sites are on the lower "river level". The property is beautiful with mature Oak, Pecan, Cypress, and Cedar trees. The property sits beside the crystal clear Medina River that has a limestone and white rock riverbed. The Huge boulders out front are where "Boulder"dash got its name!
