This vacation rental was absolutely amazing. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of dishes and flatware to accommodate our large family. The dining and living space was comfortable and inviting. Charming decor throughout the house was so welcoming and all the beds were comfortable. Our favorite gathering space was the outdoor fire pit where we spent our evenings. We will definitely recommend this lovely home to our friends.

This property was an absolute dream vacation find. We had 11 members in the family, and everyone had their own room/ area which was a big deal. We loved watching the wildlife by the apple tree during the morning sunrise on the porch. They stocked the kitchen with all the appliances you may need and plenty of space to hold a family dinner. The space itself was gorgeous, loved the exterior cabin look and inside was so cozy. They have taken very good care of the lawn and the landscape. Truly a great find.

We had a group of 12 ranging in age from 14 to 75. The property had something for everyone. The younger ones especially enjoyed the frisbee golf and spike ball. We all enjoyed the campfire area and the families of deer that frequently paraded through the yard. The house comfortably accommodated us and was well equipped.

Amazing location and home

Kathryn was amazing, she was hospitable and accommodating. The location was perfect! Only a short drive away from West Glacier. The home? A dream come true for everyone of all ages. It was spacious, well furnished and the backyard had so much to do, including all sorts of sports and a fire pit. I highly recommend this amazing location for your Montana stay!

Beautiful Cabin

This property was beautiful, including the grill and outdoor area. Close to the airport and the National Park. The owner was very proactive in communication - she checked on us multiple times throughout our stay to make sure we had what we needed. Word to the wise - the bedroom downsrairs can hear all walking on the upper floor - not a deal-breaker for us as we were so worn out from hiking, we went right to sleep - but probably best to put heavier sleepers in this room. LOVED this property! We will definitely come back!

We had an amazing time at Kathryn's property. We visited Montana to celebrate our elopement with our family. The larger number of bedrooms and bathrooms made sure everyone was very comfortable and made getting ready early in the morning to visit Glacier National Park a breeze. The house was completely stocked with everything you could possibly need for your stay. The kitchen was stocked well beyond any rental I have ever seen. The commercial fridge made feeding our group of 12 easy. The firepit area and wrap around deck/balcony areas provided plenty of space to relax and enjoy the surrounding nature, with frequent visits from deer and turkeys throughout the day.You couldn't ask for a better location. 3 minutes from a grocery store, 15 minutes from the airport, 15 minutes to Whitefish, 30 minutes from Glacier National Park.Kathryn was easy to communicate with and checked in with us throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed.A week later and our families are still raving about our time at the house! When visiting Columbia Falls/Glacier National park, this is the perfect soultion for large groups. I searched for weeks for the best option for our family and nothing appeared even close to this property. Now having stayed there, I could not have asked for more. I would not hesitate to stay again. This will forever be our first choice when staying in Columbia Falls.

Amazing stay in Columbia Falls

This property is awesome for a large group of people and the location cannot be beat! We had a family reunion with a total of 12 of us. The house was spotless. And to say Kathryn has thought of everything you could ever need is an understatement! With most rentals, you barely have anything you need except for some dishes, etc. but she doesn’t stop there. Everything was provided to us! The kitchen was well stocked with everything we could need and then some! The shed outside had so many outdoor games, etc. the fire pit was amazing, too! All the wood you could possibly burn was provided. Honestly, I could go on and on and on. But I suggest you check it out for yourself! AMAZING!

Incredible getaway in a beautiful setting

This house is dreamy. It was a perfect place for my kids to unwind and enjoy nature. There were numerous fun items in the house from Uno to Volleyball, fire pit to wooded area. It was a great way for our family to bond and have an incredible time. And it is also close to Glacier and Flathead Lake so many other fun things to do while staying there. We left wishing we had another week to stay there. Can't wait to return.

Wonderful!

We enjoyed the house and location immensely. Kathryn was super helpful, we LOVED all of the bathrooms, and the beds were comfy. The only downfall which cannot be helped is the sound from the nearby train track. Fortunately, AC upstairs allowed us to sleep with windows closed and kept the train noise out. Overall, a fun experience and great centralized location that allowed us to explore the area.

The Montana Homestead was perfect for our large 4 family 16 people annual trip. Plenty of space for all. In the country yet minutes away from the grocery store. Well stocked with all the essentials. Lots of outdoor games available. Kathryn was quick to respond to questions and very accommodating. The close proximity to the west entrance of GNP was a bonus. Family Reunion

This was the perfect place for our extended family reunion! The house and surrounding property were very condusive to rest, relaxation, and fun! One of our favorite parts was the very well stocked kitchen and the extra large additional refrigerator. We shopped at both Super 1 grocery store which was less than 2 miles away from the house, along with making a Costco run (about 15 minutes away) early on in our stay. We were able to cook all of our meals at the house and that was great! We enjoyed several trips into Glacier National Park, and excursions to nearby lakes on other days. The backyard BBQ and firepit were both key features that we would seek out when looking for future places to stay in other locations. Overall excellent and highly recommended!

Montana Homestead is Amazing!

Montana Homestead is a beautiful property, centrally located and perfectly accommodated our group of 15. The home is warm and well kept - perfect place to come back to after long days outdoor. First level provided the ideal gathering place for all of us to hang out, play board games, cook, eat and the upstairs bedrooms/bathroom were comfortable. Very nice

Nice house with good yard with many outside activities available like campfire, frisbee golf, etc. Saw deer in yard every day! Upstairs was renovated and really nice. Downstairs had older look but nice enough and functional. Downstairs did get a bit warm but upstairs where most of bedrooms are was plenty cool. Big enough our group of 12. 10 Thumbs up! Our stay started when we landed earlier then originally expected and although our check-in was later that day, Kathryn did everything she could to welcome us ahead of time although we didn't ask for it. The house is well equipped with everything needed, from games for young children to volleyball net, smart TV, cosy living room, all that you need in the kitchen and much more. The rooms are lovely with renovated bathrooms all over the house. Lots of activities for all ages in a short distance drive, which completed this experience which marked as an amazing success.

Would Recommend!

We had a group of friends stay out at the homestead. The location was great! Close to the mountains, shopping, and had a grocery store just up the street. The check in process was easy. Kathryn had the code set up for us so she didn’t need to be there, and left us some detailed notes about the place. When we arrived the place was very clean, it was large and more than enough room for all of us. She even left us a few treats which was very thoughtful and generous! Kathryn was quick to answer any of my questions and very accommodating to our needs. I would 100% recommend this place, and will stay here again when we come back to the area!

About the host

Hosted by Kathryn Price

Host profile image
My parents, David and Carla Shaffer built the Montana Homestead in the spring of 1977. Providing a home for their eleven children, they had a large garden, raised cows, goats, pigs and even pastured horses for the neighbors. David was a local teacher of mathematics at the junior high, high school and community college. Carla was a stay at home mom and housewife, teaching her children the responsibilities of being hard workers, good work ethic and overall a good citizen in the community. David is now retired and Carla passed away April 2019.

To keep the Homestead is the family, David sold the house to his daughter, Kathryn Price, a life long resident of Columbia Falls. Together with her husband, Darin and their four children they are continuing the family tradition of bringing families together in a comfortable environment while enjoying the many activities that NW Montana has to offer. Renovations have begun to modernize the Homestead without losing its rustic appeal. A large barn is planned for the near future to also host events on site to include family reunions, scrapbook retreats and weddings.

Why they chose this property

This family-friendly property is larger than it seems in the pictures and provides plenty of room to roam through the pasture or wooded walking trails. We offer seasonal outdoor games for group activities and the cabin has lots of room to accommodate large groups. Close to town and amenities you'll be pleasantly surprised at all we have to offer. Plenty of room for everyone in a large group.

What makes this property unique

The Montana Homestead "the cabin" has a special spirit, that you will experience during your stay with us. The cabin is meant for re-grounding yourself, encourages putting down the electronics and spending time with the ones you love in a comfortable, fun environment for everyone.
