Unit 612

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We absolutely LOVE Sanibel Moorings and have stayed many times. The grounds are the most beautiful on the island, and the beach location cannot be beat. The staff is always courteous and helpful for whatever your needs are. We’ve stayed in unit 612 each and every stay. We do, however, think it’s time the unit had a “refresh”. It could most definitely use a fresh coat of paint, new carpet, and some updating. It is just a bit “older” in appearance we noted, after staying in it for several years. I think the owners need to give it a little ’s time. We enjoyed our stay as always, but will try a different unit next time.

Our beach vacation at the Moorings

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been staying at the Sanibel Moorings for many years. I’m having mixed feelings about our stay this year. We rented a 2 bd/2 bath condo for our family of 6, 4 adults and 2 children. We were given towels for 4 people. We had ro request an additional 2. The person I spoke to said they were supposed to give 1 pack only (4 sets), but she would give me an additional pack. We were informed upon check in that towel exchange is now only on Wednesday mornings. They do have 24 hour laundry available across the street (dockside). The pool was wonderful and clean and the beach was wonderful as usual. However, we found a few problems in the unit. There were ants and small roaches in the kitchen. We also found that some of the pans were greasy. We made sure everything was clean and left no food out when we used the kitchen. In the first bathroom, the shower pole was loose. In previous years, The Moorings offered chairs and umbrellas to be used at the beach to be returned when we left the beach. This year, we were told each condo had 2 beach chairs for guest use. If we needed more chairs or umbrellas we could rent them. Our stay was more expensive than previous years, but it was inconvenient not to have towel exchange daily and inconvenient to not have sufficient beach chairs and no umbrellas unless we rented extra. There were chairs and umbrellas at the pool. Bottom line, we enjoyed our stay, but considering we paid more for less services, we will be looking at other options for future beach vacations.

We were so grateful to have the opportunity to come back and support the island after Ian. The moorings have made such amazing progress, and it was just like we remembered, minus their amazing garden (which I know will be back!). We were very impressed with the updates, including updated door locks (so you don't have to bring a key with you) and the provided beach chairs. THANK YOU Moorings for welcoming us back, and we can't wait to see you again soon.

Construction and bugs

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were excited when it was announced Sanibel Moorings was opening back up after Hurricane Ian damage. I believe they opened up to visitors too soon. Most of the first floor units are still under heavy construction and the noise during the day was unbearable. Also, the bugs were terrible. You couldn’t sit out by the pool or beach even in the heat of the day without getting mauled. My husband and I each had hundreds of bites within the first two days of arriving and were miserable with itching. We were forced to stay inside which meant for the most part staying in our condo and dealing with all the construction noise since most of the shops are still closed.

Great Stay @ Sanibel Moorings

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Wonderful location and charming condo good for our family of 5 plus the 100 lb black lab. We were grateful to have a location wiling to accommodate the dog - who loves beaches and especially water. No complaints about the condo at all - it’s just a little bit tight around the family room and kitchen area. The property itself is very nice, peaceful, and beautifully landscaped. Loved the privacy of the unit and it’s convenience to everything on the property. From our walks on the beach, the Moorings has a superior beach location experience.
