About this property
A Beautiful Escape from the City. Explore Nature and Enjoy the Lake!
This property is ideal for family and friends to retreat and spend time together in the beauty and quietness of the Texas hill country by Lake Aquilla. The ranch is nestled between the towns of Whitney and Hillsboro on Lake Aquilla, just 60 miles from the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex. There is about a mile of dirt roads on the property to explore and view the natural beauty of the woods and observe the wildlife. The custom cabin design is an open plan and includes an outdoor porch with ceiling fans and a spacious screened deck that overlooks the forest with glimpses of the lake ( best views of the lake are Fall and Winter). It's a peaceful place to sit out and star gaze and observe the night sky. The property is adjacent to the Corp of engineers and allows for easy access to the lake.
The location is attractive, as it is away from city life, it's that getaway destination most city folk crave. WiFi, is available to keep you connected, you can work from this location. The lower level contains a spacious great room with plenty of outdoor views. We have board games, outdoor games, a ping-pong table, located on the porch. The first-floor bedroom sleeps 2 with a queen-sized bed and is next to the first-floor bathroom. The views from the living space are amazing, you get a panoramic view of the forest and glimpses of the lake, mostly during the Fall and Winter months. The porch has large chairs to lounge and an outdoor table. We have a two-person hammock for that relaxing moment, perfect for night sky views. Lakeview was designed to invite the outdoors inside and our guests outside.
Both bedrooms on the second floor are spacious. One bedroom has a king-sized bed and daybed/trundle. The other has a queen-size bed with daybeds/trundle in bedroom and is next to the bathroom. Both rooms have access to the outdoor screened balcony. The bathroom upstairs is designed to accommodate multiple users with its Jack and Jill layout allowing separate and private use of the tub, lavatory, and "the loo".
The balcony faces west to Lake Aquilla allowing spectacular views of the setting sun, a perfect place to listen to the wildlife at night. The fuzzball table is located on the screened balcony so it's also a great gathering place.
We 0ften get asked if there is a fire pit, the answer is YES. Call it a Texas sized fire-pit if you will. It's the best place for storytelling and marshmallow fixin space.
Also asked if the studio/ house next to the cabin is for other renters. No, the studio is an added 4th bedroom space when additional space is needed. If you have a large group or have someone that would prefer their own space, I think it would be a great addition. All hygiene needs will be done in the main house as the studio doesn't have running water.
Lots of opportunities for enjoying nature and native wildlife. You will see animal tracks and an occasional arrowhead. You might hear cattle mooing at a distance, they belong to the neighbors and make for a wonderful photo prop.
There is a canoe and kayak including life jackets for your use during your Lakeview adventures.
The lake has opportunities for boating, fishing, and for hiking.
There is also a meditation garden next to Lakeview for those quiet moments.
Come sit under the trees and listen to nature's music or the quiet whispers of your soul at rest.

We had a really great time. The back porch/view of sunsets and the trees and the hawks were fantastic. We really enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying the great property and wonderful weather. I went kayaking on the lake a couple times and really enjoying paddling through the trees in the lake and enjoying the herons. I believe I even saw a pelican! We would definitely come back again. Thanks very much
Perfect setup for a large family to gather and enjoy time together. The property was clean and welcoming. Plenty of space for group activities and to retreat so we weren't all on top of each other.

We so enjoyed knowing you came from afar to spend time with family and celebrate Thanksgiving at our cabin. I especially love that your family enjoyed their stay at our property.
Place was clean and had plenty of amenities for a long weekend. We loved being able to relax with our friends and dog. We were able to take the kayaks out (they provide everything you need) and the host was very communicative. She even checked on us when the WiFi went out due a storm. We loved being able to walk on the trails safely with access to the waterfront.
The house was perfect for getting away a few days with family for a birthday celebration! Plenty of areas inside and outside to spend time with family and friends or spend a little time relaxing on your own.

Thank you for coming. I love that you were able to celebrate with family. I am so glad you enjoyed the space.
Thank you for your review.
I certainly think so. It's a wonderful retreat for families, friends, or small Bible study groups. We have several cabins on our property.
This is our second time on the property each time in a different cabin both times equally as great of an experience. Our family loves the property and we always have a great time hanging out by the lake and ending our nights making smores around the fire pit. We will continue to make memories here. Thank you for being a great host!

One of my favorite family traditions growing up was our Easter family camping trips. Spring weather is so unpredictable, so some of our Easter events were seriously affected by inclement weather. We decided it was time to find a place with cabins and a lake so if the weather changed, we had a place to shelter and feel safe. I am one of three sisters and am privileged to have a cabin in this beautiful place. A member of our family wisely asked us to be part of purchasing the 24 acres now called Trinity Trails Ranch. As a host, it is a joy to know how our family dream becomes a part of our guest's experience. We hope you can experience all the beautiful things we have come to appreciate about this unexpected jewel of a place that we call Trinity Trails Ranch.
Why they chose this property
I've learned location is essential when starting a business. We are city dwellers that often need that escape from city life. Driving through country roads and into the woods brings your whole being into a different state of decompression. If you appreciated nature or just love the outdoors, you will certainly feel connected to this beautiful space out in the country. We are 60 miles from Dallas, 65 miles from Fort Worth, 40 miles from Waxahachie, 30 miles from Waco, and only 8 miles from Whitney. We are a 15-minute drive into downtown Hillsboro.
What makes this property unique
We love nature and designed the cabin/home to encourage our guests to enjoy the outdoors. Starting with all the widows that give you views of the surrounding forest. A large porch with plenty of seating for outdoor dining or just hanging out. The screened upstairs deck is truly my favorite place to relax. It's an indoor-outdoor, very cozy space, I believe you will love as well. Hiking opportunities, you might find some different animal prints on the roads or spot flint or arrowheads. There is a Texas-sized fire pit to enjoy on chilly nights or just because you want to roast some marshmallows. Lake Aquilla is a well-kept secret for fishing; it's known for having large-mouth bass, catfish, crappie, white bass, and sunfish. At times while standing by the lake, we see and hear fish jumping out of the water, just asking to be caught. Fortunately for them, we don't fish as often as we would like. So don't forget your fishing rods. If you bring a boat, be advised to inquire first. The closest ramp is the Derry Hills Ramp off Hwy 1947, about 5 minutes' drive from our location.
