About this property

Tranquil Cottage at FarAway Pond

Tranquil waterfront retreat on a peaceful spring fed pond, this Dog Friendly cottage has unique style, deck with grill & smokeless fire pit-wood provided-shady deck and rockers, lounge chairs and kayaks on your private dock. Full Murphy bed in living room with electric`wood` stove & queen bed in the loft. Trails through 68 acres of forest and meadow lead to 300 state acre forest. Two adjacent guest homes share the pond and sandy beach, message for available dates for all 3 for perfect privacy.

This stylish space is entered through the private pond side deck complete with smokeless fire pit and gas grill.

There are only 3 cottages along the lake shore. We group these cottages along one side of the pond so the maximum shoreline is protected, following guidelines set by our forest advisor. Each cottage has a private view, but as sound carries over water, you may hear other guests enjoying their deck. We have a team of dedicated groundskeepers and gardeners who keep everything tidy and you may see them about the place, watering and trimming.

Generous living room on first floor has kitchen counter all along the back side with fridge/freezer, induction cooktop, microwave and toaster oven and indoor grill Custom stylish feature wall behind. Off the living room are sink and toilet room and separate bath/shower room.

Shelves on the Murphy bed wall hold games and toys, books and DVD`s. Smart TV connected to internet, netflix, hulu and amazon prime.
Up the spiral stair, (suitable for the agile ) the large private loft has easy chair and foot rest, queen bed and TV.

PLEASE drive only on the gravel driveways and parking areas as the lawns and septic systems do not tolerate the weight of cars.

Please note that while we do our very best to keep the grills, decks, dock and toys current, some wear should be expected.
WE humbly request that you bring ANY and ALL issues with our grounds, grills, beach and trails to our attention as soon as you notice a problem. That way we can get to fixing it for you. 68 acres is a lot to keep track of and we really appreciate your help in staying on top of problems.

Walk or snowshoe the trails on our private estate or venture in to the adjacent 300 acre State Forest with miles of trails and even an old gold mine! This four-season home makes a great base for exploring the foliage in fall and hiking the White Mountains any time of year. In the winter there are numerous ski resorts all around the White Mountains including Cannon and Bretton Woods.

This entire cottage, deck and adjacent parking space are reserved for you. You will share access to the sandy beach, trails, dock and pond with guests at the 2 other cottages on the property. Contact me if you would like to rent one or both of these cottages for your group to have full privacy, I will let you know the available dates.

I am around, usually up at the big barn, just out of sight up the hill, so can be on the spot if you need something, and out of the way if not. My goal is to provide each guest with all they need for a refreshing, peaceful vacation. You might see our gardeners around, maintaining all the beauty, but otherwise the place is yours to enjoy and explore.

Just 1.5 miles from the center of Whitefield where you will find a fine little market with all the essentials you need, a pizza place and numerous thrift stores. The Mt View Grand Hotel is just 3 miles away and if you book a massage at their spa, you have use of the indoor pool, sauna and hot tub. They also have a great bar and restaurant, library and game room. Perfect for a rainy day. Worth a visit for the history!

In case you are looking for things to do-here are some suggestions. If it is rainy, try a massage at the Mt View Grand in Whitefield. A booking gets you access to their gym, sauna and nice indoor pool. its an historic site, fun to explore with good food and drink too. Although the results of a recent makeover to the lobby are tragic, the game rooms and library are still intact.

Hiking around is always a favorite of guests. We have trails all around the pond and are adjacent to the Dana Forest where you can take a mossy woodland trail to an old Gold Mine. The trail entrance is on your right just before Ridge Rd takes a turn upwards.

For a spectacular view-the Weeks State Park is a 1.5 mile walk or drive up Mt Prospect with 2 lookout rest stops along the way. There is a fire tower at the top in case you want more climbing!

Beautiful quiet and peaceful area, me and my daughter enjoyed a mini getaway to Faraway Pond. The adorable cottage had all the amenities needed and we loved the scenic view of the pond and the kayaks. Got some awesome sunset pictures! Mary was super responsive and thoughtful. We wouldn't hesitate to come back for another visit. I bet the Fall foliage is gorgeous.

Very pretty cottage. Everything was very clean and up to date. The steps to the upstairs bedroom were a little hard to maneuver for my husband who has back issues, so we slept on the murphy bed, that was very comfortable. We also would have needed to carry the dogs up the steps. The outdoor area was very nice. We were only there for two nights. Wished we had more time to relax and enjoy. The list of things to do and places to eats was also a nice addition.
