The wind currents caused by the bluff next to the lake result in the perfect location to watch the eagles soar looking for their next meal. You will be able to enjoy lake activities just 200 yards down the road to the beach. There are (4) kayaks and a pedal boat available to use when the weather is calm. The beach provides a great place to swim, float and fish. Nature, small towns, antiques and Civil War history are the main attractions at the Barge Inn. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle look no further. The Barge Inn lake front retreat is light, airy and clean with spacious living areas, two large decks, comfortable bedrooms, great mattresses, sparkling clean fully supplied bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. The Barge Inn is only 25 minutes from Ft. Donelson, a Civil War fort, that was key to securing the Cumberland River gateway to Nashville Tn. The original surrender house for the Battle of Dover is part of the National Park landmarks in Dover, Tn. that you can tour. The Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area is about 30 minutes away. This area offers hiking, biking, horseback riding, a buffalo and elk range that can be driven through, a nature center, a planetarium, and more.
