This property is absolutely beautiful. Our family consisted of 6 adults and 4 children ages 11-16 and the accommodations worked perfectly. There is a large pool, game room, and movie room - perfect for all ages. The villa has a lot of history associated with it and we could not have picked a better place to create our memories of Italy.

too nice to leave, but too convenient to day-trip

We should have stayed longer! Fabulous and extremely comfortable place, and convenient to lakes region. We even day-tripped, via train, though the Alps to St Moritz. couldn't have been bette; and, Gretchen is wonderful!

We had the most wonderful time at the villa. Gretchen was a fantastic host—warm, communicative, and incredibly helpful. We booked around seven months in advance and stayed in touch with her for recommendations and practical information. She was absolutely wonderful throughout.The villa itself is truly one of a kind. You can feel its history in every corner, yet it is also welcoming, comfortable, and exceptionally well equipped. We were three families with five children, and it suited our needs perfectly, with plenty of room for additional guests.The spacious kitchen has everything you could possibly need, including two refrigerators. We found ourselves cooking there throughout most of the week and thoroughly enjoyed using it. The bedrooms are large, and having a bathroom for every bedroom was a real luxury. We also made frequent use of the beautiful balconies and terraces.The entire estate is magnificent and full of character. We have honestly never stayed anywhere quite like it. As we visited during the summer, the large and inviting swimming pool was a particular highlight, and we happily spent many hours there.This was a truly memorable family vacation, and every one of us enjoyed the stay immensely. Thank you, Gretchen, for such a special experience!

Would highly recommend this beautiful villa. Plenty of room, beautiful grounds and views. Location is great with only a short drive to Milan and Lake Como. The hostess was fantastic. Gretchen was very pleasant/friendly, helpful and provided us much information. Although we did not take advantage of the extra services offered for an extra fee, you are able to arrange for a private chef to cook for you, have a private cooking class, etc.

Spectacular

Norther Italy at it's best. The property is not to be missed. We were 7 people and everyone loved the place. The rooms were beautiful, modern bathrooms and an excellent kitchen. The grounds and the view were awesome. Hopefully we will be back.

Amazing property

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful home. The house is very spacious and grand, dating back to the 1400s. The property is gorgeous, including a great swimming pool and game room for the kids (ping ping, foosball and bocce). The host was extremely responsive and helpful both before and during our stay. She even arranged a private chef dinner for us one night, which was wonderful!

Perfection

We stayed at the villa for a few days following a two week tour of Italy. The home and grounds are beautiful and relaxing. We had a chef cook a home cooked meal one night and the proximity to Milan and surrounding lakes. We loved the peaceful nature of the home and all the history. I cannot wait to return!

Wonderful historic place with lots of atmosphere

We were a group of three parties with children between 2 and 16 years. The place is perfect as there is lot of space inside and outside. We really loved the terrace with and without roof to enjoy the magnificent view over the huge garden and the landscape. Gretchen was perfect in contact and help.

Family time in Italy

We took our adult children, spouses and one year old granddaughter to Italy to be able to spend time together. Gretchen was a marvelous host. She communicated with me in advance to help me arrange a boat tour of Lake Como, gave lots of info about surrounding area, restaurants, and shops. The Villa and grounds are very impressive. Large, beautiful, accommodates a large group and yet child friendly. Bonus, handicap accessible. Hope to return again some day!

Family and friends gathering at the Villa

This beautiful family Villa was perfect for our week long gathering of three generations and close friends. We felt right at home immediately. There was space for everyone, both indoors and outside. We loved being on the picturesque terrace and loggia, the lawns, in the beautiful large pool, and in every room in the house. There is so much history here. We loved the family photos, the art, the furnishings, the Murano chandeliers, the toys under the grand piano, the beautiful kitchen. The Villa is filled with love and care. It felt so warm and comfortable to us, including the children. One evening, we brought in a chef to prepare a beautiful meal for us. We loved our stay and wish we could come back every year.

Perfection

From the time we arrived until we reluctantly left, it was spectacular. Gretchen is a superb host who had an answer or suggestion for all our inquiries. From day trips, booked events, restaurants, and wine shops, everything was the best. The home is elegant with every amenity you would need. The property is well maintained - wonderful scents from the garden enticed us outside. The lap pool is spotless and was used daily. Chef Maria was the icing on the cake. Our last meal was fantastic. Maria is warm, the consummate professional, and the evidence is in her excellent food. Highly recommend!!

Beyond Words of Perfection

My family and extended family, a party of 10, booked Poggio Verde for 4 nights in June. Communication with Gretchen the year leading up to the stay was effective, quick, professional and friendly. I am not sure that I am able to properly express the glorious time we had with Gretchen, her family, and at the property. It was like arriving in a dream!!! The most beautiful and historical home. The property and grounds were very clean and well maintained. Its hosts were the epitome of hospitable and caring hosts. Our family made the most glorious of memories while staying at the beautiful villa. 11 out of 10 in every category! Thank you, Gretchen and Luigi, for blessing us with sharing your home with us!

Peaceful vacation - North Italian lifestyle

Our family (8 people) gathered for Easter Vacation at the Poggio Verde villa. We have rented several villas in the past decade in Italy, Spain, Greece and France, but this one was definitely the most comfortable and peaceful one. We were lucky to meet the very kind owners and learn a bit more from them on the history of the villa and region. The garden is amazing, with old trees and flowers, plenty of spaces calling for meditation. We also liked the open kitchen which is fully equipped as well as the multiple dining and sitting rooms, where we even played the piano. There are plenty of beautiful places to visit as well as restaurants for those who would like a more active holiday, around the lakes and mountains within 45mn-60mn drive, and also various towns including Milano (there's a convenient train station not to far away, to avoid traffic jams). Each bedroom has its own bathroom so the villa is also very convenient for a group or even professional gathering. Highly recommended.

Beautiful house with classic furnishings in a lovely rural setting

We loved our stay - Gretchen was so welcoming and helpful. She introduced us to the property and assisted with restaurant recommendations and suggestions of places to see. It is a bucolic setting, which we relished - some may find the location slightly isolated, but Milan is only an hour or so away, and the lakes about an hour and a half. Virtually all en-suite bedrooms were ideal for our party which included people from 9 to 83, and the well equipped kitchen was a pleasure to cook in. We were there during a heat wave, and the benefit of air conditioning in all the rooms (and the kitchen!) cannot be stressed enough! There is huge pool as well. Fantastic local restaurants nearby, but great supermarkets 7-10 minutes away for those who wish to stay home - Gretchen can also arrange for catering! More than a villa

This house, part of which was built in the 1500s, is more than a villa: it's a total experience. The entire estate is imbued with the feel of a grander era, from the statuary in the hedges, to the manicured lawns, to the high-ceilinged bedrooms, to the artful sconces in the upstairs hallway, to the illuminated statue at the bottom of the stairs, to the magnificent views. The house is decorated with original art, lots of books, and comfortable furniture in almost every room. There's a sense of luxuriousness and well-planned design everywhere you turn, and Gretchen couldn't have been more accomodating. She even picked up two members of our party from the train station, which we were deeply grateful for. I can't recommend Villa Poggio Verde higly enough. The extra bonus is the list of day trips provided by Gretchen, all of which provided to be memorable experiences.

Vi hade en fantastisk vistelse på denna gård! Vi var 7 vuxna och 1 barn (1,5 år). Huset var perfekt med allt vi behövde för en vecka tillsammans. Det var jättebra att samtliga sovrum hade badrum när man är ett stort sällskap. I köket kunde vi laga goda middagar att njuta av på den vackra terassen. Spelrum, bio och pool är ett stor plus, vi stannade hemma mer än vi planerat för att det var så trevligt! Vänliga värdar som hjälper till och enkel kommunikation, kul att få ta del av deras historia. Värden och huset får vår största av rekommendation!

Fabulous property!

This villa just couldn't be any better. It's a beautiful property. So many amenities. Very comfortable. Wonderful bedrooms and bathrooms. We really enjoyed the outdoor living spaces as well. A Magical 10 days

My family of 9 just returned home after 10 extraordinary days at Villa Poggio Verde. Combining both elegance and comfort, the villa is a magical spot. It has the graciousness of a century old home with the amenities of the 21st century. A fully equipped kitchen. A/C in all the bedrooms. Good wifi. A movie room. Child friendly with toys and a crib. A fabulous pool with floats and toys. Even yoga mats. We prepared elegant dinners that we ate on the stunning porch overlooking the vistas of Lombardy. The villa is perfectly situated for exploring Lombardy and the small towns on Lake Como. If you are lucky enough to rent Villa Poggio Verde, you will experience the same magic we did.

Magical setting, all wishes catered for

Cannot recommend the property highly enough. Stunning villa in a magical setting. We had an long list of wishes and every single one was catered for: * Screen and projector to watch sports * Private chef for 12 people * Trip to Bellaggio with a minibus The kitchen/portico area are amazing social places. We could have easily spent another 10 days at the property :-)
