It's a MUST SEE. (https://www.esquire.com/lifestyle/a60319627/the-lafayette-san-diego-best-new-hotel-2024/)
Walk along Adams Avenue and see antique Row- cute little shopping boutiques, and other restaurants and coffee shops and bakeries. Enjoy this property that has been newly refreshed with a gorgeous 50’s style pink kitchen and gold knobs. Great spaces and furnishings to take photos that will stand out in your memories. Have your morning coffee on the front porch and enjoy dinner in the outdoor dining area. relax in the cosy backyard that is fully fenced and private. Landscaped with beautiful ficus trees and palm trees, you have a peaceful, friendly and safe neighborhood. Looks like 2 dogs for every person who live in the area. Very close to three freeways for easy access to San Diego’s attractions. Only a seven minute drive to Balboa Park and the zoo. Close to downtown and beaches. Quick 6 min drive to Snap Dragon Stadium also for events. We have had many people come stay here to attend concerts, graduations and weddings.
This is a 1950's cottage accessing it's front door through the alley like many homes in the area! There is a private gate to the porch where your porch faces the interior back yard with privacy. PARKING:
Parking would work for a very small car only like a Mini Cooper . (in the garage. ) larger vehicles will need to find parking on the street.

About the host
Hosted by BEENA MASELLIS
I'd be delighted to host you at my house if you already have reviews showing you take good care of the places you stay. I hail from Edmonton, Canada but moved to San Diego because I love the weather and lifestyle that SD offers. I hike almost every day with my dog! I enjoy exploring neighborhoods and restaurants so please ask me some tips of where to hang out or where to eat!
Why they chose this property
University Heights is a family friendly neighborhood where there are two dogs to every one person. :) It reminds me of a vacation getaway, like in a mountain town or something. You wouldn't believe how many birds are in my yard! People are friendly and I really like that I can walk to coffee shops, restaurants and little shops close by. Esquire named the LAFAYETTE hotel as the best new hotel in the USA 2024 - and I have walked there from this house. It was safe and I like all the old spanish houses. Within driving distance is a whole foods, snap dragon stadium, balboa and beaches. The loud bar scene and super touristy very young and wild scene steered by alcohol is not present in this area and that is another huge bonus. The party goers like the louder parts of north park and gas lamp when visiting San Diego so I tend to have more mature guests or families.
What makes this property unique
My property has a private fenced yard. The front porch is quiet and really nice to sit and enjoy a coffee. Being tucked into a residential street with other families yet walkable to coffee shops and restaurants makes this property a true vacation getaway, a home away from home. You will like this place to sit and lounge outside, in privacy!
Coming and going with your own private entrance. I really styled the place to give you a retro vibe but still stylish because I bought all new linens, new pillows and new mattresses.
You will feel comfortable and relaxed. I have had a few couples come and enjoy their anniversary together and they found it a romantic space perfect for two.
When you see some of the original features of this place, like the rounded corner kitchen cabinets which I painted in an updated pink to really highlight the original 1950's aura that the cottage projects!
The ironing board that pops out of the wall like we have seen in 50's shows., a front door peep hole, Jalousie California windows in the kitchen. I hadn't seen those type of windows until moving to San Diego because you cannot have that kind of window in the cold weather of Canada! I hope you will enjoy all the birds in the large trees and relax.
