Pool is not dirty. There are discolorations in the PVC pool liner on the floor. Manufacturer said this happens and is normally caused by exposure to sunlight or unbalanced chemical levels. The pool is an Intex above ground pool. It takes a beating from the direct sun we get in that area. The maintenance team was at the home servicing the pool and met with the guest. The home is fully renovated and deep cleaned on a weekly basis. Nothing in the home to attract roaches or insects. A super expensive exterminator treats monthly. With the colder weather, insects run to warm places. Home was treated inside and on external perimeter a day before guest arrived. So there could have been some dead critters. It's Florida and very normal. At times, guest unknowingly bring bugs with them. So we stay on top of this. Read reviews by other guests. We are known for having clean homes all over Tampa Bay, FL.

This guest was really hard on the home. They damaged the washer and dryer. They stopped working. There was some other damage. We have to submit a claim for insurance to cover items.

We would have given a mixer to this guest. He did not ask us (smile). Guests were not using the mixer so we removed it to save sapce. We definitely provide the most popular appliances.

Goodness, as Hosts we all get hit with occasional guests who are determined to be unhappy, no matter how much we try to appease them. She threatened to leave a negative review if we did not accede to her demands. Thankfully, we have 5 star reviews on the internet - G-0-o*g-l-e and on our YT channel that shows video tours of our homes. This guests was attempting to get a refund in order to change her travel plans to Disney. Once she arrived, she did not realize how super close we are located to Disney (approx. 75 minutes). When she could not get a refund, she began incessant nitpicking. She made shocking and negative racial comments about the homeowners who have lived on the block for 20 to 30 years. Some of them are millionaires and have family businesses along the main roads. There is a mix of older, well-maintained, midsize homes and mini mansions tucked away around small lakes. The general area is called Lake Egypt Estates - rich culture, diverse, well-established. Along Armenia (a main road), you will find some of the best food in Tampa. We share this so that you can research the area. BUGS
Insects/bugs are drawn to indoor environments during winter, cooler weather, rain and high winds. Bugs seek refuge. LaToya was here during record cold nights in December for Tampa.
IF she saw a bug, then it was an occasional bug. We asked the guest for photos or videos. She refused to provide them. The home is renovated with all new furnishings sitting in a super central location in the heart of Tampa, FL. Guest can reach popular most popular attractions in 10 to 20 minutes. There is nothing in the home to attract bugs other than food a guest might leave out overnight. Sometimes, guest unknowingly brings bugs with them. To combat this, on a monthly basis the home is professionally exterminated and receives a deep cleaning (including behind refrigerator, stove and washer/dryer). The threats from this guest prompted our team to reach out for help. Here is what we sent to VRBO: Attention VRBO Thanks for calling us about this guest and her concerns with the neighborhood and home. LaToya did not let us know about her concerns until today. In the messages, you will see that we are proactive and touch base with our dear guests to make sure they are good. We learned from LaToya the following: - she read the good reviews on the home and as a result she decided to book. - she is upset with VRBO for not displaying the house rules and cancellation policy before she booked. The website made it hard for her to see this info. - she read house rules about not deep frying food in grease/oil in the home. She did not like this. We explained that most of our guests understand the damage this can cause and lingering smells in the nice home that turn off the next guests. So as an attempt to please all guests, we offer an air fryer that can be used in the home. Then for deep frying in oils (chicken and especially seafood/fish), we provide an outside “Fry” station with an electric skillet. Per LaToya, the temperature was going to be in 70s to 80s in a day or so, and we do offer an outside cooking set up in the pool area. So she would have nice days for outside cooking. Our guest really love this. But LaToya did not want to fry outside. So we agreed to let her fry inside with some rules: - open the door/window to allow fresh air to circulate in the home - And use a splatter guard to cover pan during frying. Excessive CleanUp - If the cleaning team have to degrease and perform odor removal or if accidents occur, then this will be an additional fee. - She said she was uncomfortable being around certain races of people. We assured her that the block and area was full of very nice home owners of 30 years and business owners. We told her to call police to ask about crime. But she remained upset and said the area was not gated and safe for her kids to play outside. The listing does not state that the home is in a gated area. - She was upset about the info we shared with guests for recycling at this home. We explained that it is not required. But many guests actually ask us how to recycle. So by popular demand, we added instructions in the house rules. - She said the bottom of the pool looked dirty. It is an outside pool with no cover. So we have to clean it routinely. But we love our guests. So we had our maintenance team take a second look for any touch ups. This time of year, our guests do not use the pool. It is not heated. The days and evenings are very cold. - She also said she killed a roach in the home. Our homes have a reputation for being clean per guests on the major online travel agencies like VRBO. We do a 5 step COVID clean between guests. We also clean behind: stove, washer/dryer and refrigerator. Guests really love this. So there is nothing in the home that can attract roaches. What she MIGHT have seen was likely a palmetto bug. They can fly. They do look like roaches. This is Florida. We all see these insects sneaking into our homes. - She said she did not feel good about sitting on our comfy sleeper sofa in the Living room. We have our sofas and chairs professionally cleaned on a regular basis. If the home had been dirty, we believe LaToya would have called us the evening she checked into the home. But she did not. 
- We even offered another one of our homes to LaToya, but she declined. She wanted to remain in our big house. - We offered to help her find fun things to do in Tampa. She did not accept our help. She shared how much she loved Orlando, FL more than Tampa… but honestly who doesn’t. We ALL love that touristy place. #DisneyRocks - We are here to support LaToya and her family during the holidays. We appreciate the opportunity to host them. ** VRBO please help LaToya with her concerns *** VRBO refused to compensate this guest. They said our home has amazing reviews . . . and we are Premier Hosts. They thanked us for being kind enough to offer a different home to LaToya. - LaToya caused damages to the home. Some of the damage included: beds urinated in, food stains in furniture, and towel bars were ripped out of the sheetrock. We are assuming these were accidents caused by this guest.

Tiffany read and agreed to all house rules. She asked many questions before booking also. She even saw our video tour on You-Tube of the home. She knew it had stairs and lovely decor. She explained that all other Hosts and owners were declining her stay because they did NOT want her installing a wheelchair ramp. We allowed this with an extra payment. Glad we did. Her kids played and jumped on it everyday. The Amazon delivery people walked on it. By the way, she was not allowed to receive mail at the home. This is against house rules. So from day 1, she was disrespecting the house rules. Apparently, she really did not like them. For guests who stay longer than 2 weeks, our team meets with them to discuss routine maintenance schedules (like grass cutting, extermination, changing filters, cleaning AC lines and dryer ducts, plumbing and septic issues). We normally do these things between guests. So our short term guests never see these things. Tiffany agreed that the home was very nice, clean and well maintained. This is due to basic house rules. Many guests stay with us. We are determined to provide a nice and comfy stay. So yes, Tiffany had to move her car to allow the landscaping team to work. Tiffany's kids played all day with the seashells in the driveway. They searched for shark teeth. So we are not surprised that her kids tracked and carried seashells into the home. For frying in the home with oils that splatter, we specifically told her this was not allowed. By now, everyone knows that you fry outside to keep the home nice. She agreed multiple times. As alternatives, our homes are stocked with basic spices, AIR fryers that CAN be used in the homes, crock pots, Insta Pots (all covered pots), a tiny bottle of Olive Oil, Pam and Avocado spray (very light oils) to spray a pan if needed. For baking in the oven, you use foil to cover the food to avoid splatters. IF you really want to fry with Crisco in a frying pan or fry wok, then we offer an electric frying pan set up (outside) in the nice private fenced backyard. FRY all you want outside and let the grease splatter outside. We must avoid those smells lingering in the nice furniture and drapes in the homes. Other guests will complain. Tiffany purchased a HUGE frying wok, Crisco oil and must have fried EVERYDAY. Who buys a MEGA sized wok to make light sauces? The cleaning team took photos of grease splatters on cabinets and below the microwave and on the sides of the stove. But the smell was the worst. Smells were trapped in window drapes, sofa, bedding and decorative pillows. Walls, cabinets, appliances, flooring had to be deep cleaned, de-greased. Some odor remediation with sealer and paint was needed. Food and trash was left under the beds and attracted bugs and ants. Someone was sick and vomited. Tiffany admitted to this. Food crumbs were below the sofa cushions. Tiffany had several kids. So it was a hard clean up for us. As part of our 5 Step COVID cleaning process, we remove all food and items that belonged to previous guests. The team reported that Tiffany took the new Brita pitcher and filter from the refrigerator. That was just purchased before she arrived. We maintain an inventory in our homes on snacks, towels, dishes and all furnishings. Damage was caused by the wheelchair ramp. We are submitting a claim to the VRBO insurance company. The home is good for families who understand that it is required to take care of other people's property.

Jennifer secretly planned a large party of 30 people in this huge POOL home. She booked (2) ONE-NIGHT STAYS on 2 different dates. But she only listed one person on the reservation (red flag). When this fraud was exposed. She made multiple calls into VRBO trying to convince various reps to refund her money. One VRBO rep refunded the first reservation to Jennifer in error. Jennifer was "working the system" and telling VRBO a sad story. When VRBO caught on, they flagged her account and did not refund her money on the second reservation. VRBO apologized profusely to us (the Host). Jennifer was planning her Bon Voyage party at the home for a Carnival Cruise. She wanted her party of 30 to return to the home after the cruise to sleep on the floor. The home does not hold 30 people. Thank goodness VRBO helped the Host. It's incredible that people like Jennifer are still pulling scams like this. ~~ One night stays, last minute bookings (especially by people who live locally) tend to be parties/events. Please be warned about this guest. We filed a formal complaint on this guest. We asked VRBO to penalize her and remove her from the platform. ~ Warmly, Furnished Stays Tampa
