Heaven on Huycks Bay!
Hygge (/ˈhjuːɡə/ HEW-gə or /ˈhuːɡə/ HOO-gə) is a Danish and Norwegian word which describes a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being. Surround yourself with the things that make life good, like family, friendship, love, and laughter. Hygge House, located on Huycks Bay in Prince Edward County is a perfect place to bring more Hygge into your daily life.
This comfortable one level, three-bedroom, two-bathroom vacation home features simple and clean contemporary décor and an open concept living and dining area with large windows and lovely calming views of Huycks Bay.
The spacious yard provides lots of space for the kids to run around outdoors while the adults relax on one of the decks with a morning coffee or an evening cocktail.
Head out for a day at the Sandbanks, one beach pass is included with your rental. The larger deck provides a dining space and BBQ for grilling meals while the smaller water-side deck provides a peaceful vista with water views.
Enjoy a peaceful paddle on the bay in one of the three kayaks or one canoe for. Please note that the owner requires a signed liability waiver to utilize the boats. There are several life jackets in adult and child sizes, however please feel free to bring your own to ensure a perfect fit. Water shoes are strongly suggested as the lake bottom is rather silty, and is not recommended for swimming. In the late summer, you may see the wild rice coming through the surface of the water, but this will not deter you from using the boats.
There is no better way to end a 'hygge' day than roasting marshmallows and telling tales around the water-side campfire as the sun sets over the bay.
You'll have use of the entire house and yard.
The local road is ideal for biking and walking. North Beach is less than 15 minutes away and your rental includes a beach pass which is also valid for the Sandbanks beaches. Several award winning wineries and breweries are also part of the local landscape. Close by is the quaint lakeside village of Wellington where you can enjoy dining, visiting a bar or cafe, and shopping for supplies and gifts. You may also appreciate Wellington beach, lakeside park, Wellington Farmers Market (Sat), and Wellington-on-the-Lake Golf Course.
There is parking for 2-3 cars, the driveway is narrow so any more than 2 cars will need to park one behind the other. The cottage is located in a family neighbourhood however you will still have the privacy you are looking for.
There is a locked shed that contains three kayaks. The main guest of each group is required to sign a kayak waiver in order to utilize the water craft. Once the waiver is signed, the key for the shed will be in the cottage.
Lawn mowing and garbage pick up will be done on Saturdays. Please ensure you do not block the garage door with your car as the maintenance person will need to access the garage.
*Accommodates a maximum of 6 persons (local by-law 4518-2019), therefore only the registered guests are allowed on the property at any time.
