Summary: Oakdale Townhomes are located in the quaint town of Grand Bay, AL. At this newly renovated vacation rental, you’re only 30 minutes away from the white sandy beaches of Dauphin Island, 25 minutes south of the city of Mobile and 40 minutes east of Biloxi, MS. (If you have time, take a day trip to New Orleans, which is only an hour and 45 minutes away!).
We hope you enjoy your stay at Oakdale Townhomes and are able to get out and explore the beautiful Gulf Coast during your visit!
The Space: In 2018, this 8-unit building underwent a complete renovation where it was stripped down to its bones and redesigned with modern finishes and decor. Each townhome was fully refinished with new stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and a fully stocked kitchen. Two bright and airy bedrooms and one full bathroom are located upstairs, and one half bathroom is located off the kitchen downstairs.
A small patio off the back of the townhome gives guests a nice outdoor space to grill, lounge and enjoy the spacious backyard.
Guest Access: This unit is the fourth townhome from the left of the building. Guests have access to a private patio area with a grill, outdoor table and chairs. Parking is available directly in front of the unit. There is plenty of green space to walk your leashed dog in the front of the building and in the backyard.
The Neighborhood: Grand Bay, known as the watermelon capital of Alabama, is a small farming community centrally located to many popular Gulf Coast attractions. It is home to the Grand Bay Watermelon Festival held every year on The Fourth of July when the town gathers to celebrate the South’s best-tasting watermelon. Fresh Grand Bay-grown watermelon is served by the slice, and the Watermelon Festival Queen is crowned during the beauty contest. There is also live music and small fair rides for the kids.
There are several local eateries in Grand Bay, including hometown favorite Sams Super Burger that serves American classics, and Kitchen of the Sea, the local food truck that’s often parked in the center of town serving the freshest seafood.
Dauphin Island is a small island situated just off the the beautiful Alabama Gulf Coast. Tourists, snow birds and families flock to Dauphin Island year-round for the miles of beaches, the fresh Gulf Coast seafood and world-class deep sea fishing. the Dauphin Island Fishing Rodeo during July brings more than 75,000 spectators to the island for a weekend of fun and sports fishing.
Mobile hosts many events throughout the year, but none compare to Mardi Gras celebrated every spring when tens of thousands join together all around the city for parades, masquerade balls and other fun events surrounding this Southern celebration.
Downtown Mobile has many different attractions that may interest families and tourists, including the USS Alabama battleship docked in Mobile Bay, and Fort Conde, an 18th century fort built by the French during the colonial period. (Both are available to tour.) While you’re exploring downtown, be sure to take a stroll down Dauphin Street to see the old historic buildings of Mobile, many of which are now restaurants featuring the finest Gulf Coast cuisine.
Getting Around: There is no public transportation in Grand Bay, but the townhomes are located located less than a two-minute drive to grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations.
Other Things to Note: Pets: No cats allowed! Dogs are allowed with a $100 fee per dog. There is a maximum of two dogs no larger than 75 pounds each. Dogs who are categorized as "dangerous" or "aggressive" according the ASPCA are not allowed. Please let us know if you're bringing your furry friend so we can add the appropriate pet fee, as the Airbnb website does not have a spot for us to add the fee. The fee will be added to the cost of your nightly charge. Guests must keep dogs on a leash when outdoors, and clean up after their pets. Guests who bring a dog without notification could face penalty. We do not accept cats !
Noise: This is an eight-unit apartment building. This unit is the fourth unit from the left of the building, so you do share two walls with the neighboring units. Therefore you could experience noise from next door.
The downstairs TV has basic cable also ! The input for cable is Live TV .
Interaction with Guests: If you have any questions or concerns, reach out to us through the message thread and one of our team members will assist you with any needs during your stay.

We had a wonderful stay. The house is cozy but yet big enough for a larger family. Whole townhouse was remodel to style now. Comnucation with the owner was very easy and quick!!

So glad y’all had a great stay ! Hope y’all can come back again soon !
This was a very nice place! Me and a few friends were so happy to be together and enjoy our time together in this big space. It was such a good get a way and I am definitely saving this place so that we can stay here again because we loved it so much! The communication was spot on with the property manager and we had overall no problems in our stay! Can’t wait to stay here again!
The host contacted me in plenty of time stating they overbooked for this location and offered me to stay at one of their other locations. And everything worked out perfectly, we were able to stay on the island with morebath rooms which is always a plus!plus!
I had been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer a few months prior. Finally feeling good, I brought 2 of my sons down to do some crabbing. The property was perfect for our little get away. Close enough to Mobile and Bayou LaBatre. The crabbing was great as well. They caught over 100 blue crab in 2 days. We will definitely be back. We were just talking about it yesterday.
Needed better cleaning, was done in rush. Property needs fixing in smaller details. Quiet and respectful neighbors. Would recommend after proper work is done.
Just to start off this was the first time i have stayed where everything was there! First impressions say a lot, when I opened the front door and walked in it was just like walking into a new house. The look, and smell was "new" Of course it wasn't but the impression was there. The kitchen was clean, cabinets and drawer's were full of Clean pots, pans, plates, glasses and silverware. Plenty of dishwashing soaps for the sink and dishwasher also. Bathrooms clean full of BIG THICK towel's, bath cloths. Living room was just as nice. Both bedrooms had very comfortable mattresses' so good that when we got home i told my wife we had to get a new one lol. The town of Grand Bay was nice and quite like the town i live in. We drove over to Dauphin Island each day for the beach, it was about a 35 min drive which was a little further than i would have liked but was a easy drive with little or no traffic. The beach on the island was nice with no crowds at all which was nice for sure. When you get to Grand Bay and need groceries' go to Greer's right there in Grand Bay, great little store that is a lot bigger when you get inside, it has everything you need and cheaper than home! Overall great stay and will be going back.
This was a great place. Very quiet and clean and we really enjoyed our down time after being on road for two days. Had everything we needed to cook dinner and get a good night’s test! Thanks again and we will be back!!

The apartment was clean and well maintained. The kitchen was pretty well stocked -- just missing pans for baking in the oven. The beds were comfortable but there was NO king bed, even though that was listed in the description. Big disappointment!
The walls were a bit thin, so the quiet hours were very necessary -- and mostly kept by the neighbors. The train was louder / closer than we'd expected. I didn't really notice it after the first time, but the others did.

Leanne,
Thank you for staying with us. We must have made a mistake in our listing for this property when it comes to the bed sets. We will make sure it has the correct size type listed for future guests. Hopefully the train didn't run too often during your stay. We would love to have you back anytime.
The owner does an amazing job of filling the rental with the little things like paper products, plenty of towels, kitchen utensils & even ice in the freezer! Very easy to communicate with as well!

Belinda,
Thank you for the kind comments on our property. I will be sure to let our team know that their hard work doesn't go unnoticed when it comes to stocking this unit. So glad you enjoyed your stay and it had everything you needed. We would be happy to host you again!
This property was exactly as described. The townhome though a little older was updated perfectly. It was cozy and relaxing. My husband and myself met his sister and mom there as it was halfway point from both our homes. It was a wonderful stay by all. The only downside we had was the couch is very, very low to the ground and my mother in law struggled getting up from it.

It worked
We needed a place to stay. Some things made it unattractive to me. The train close by was one. The grass was not cut. The bare minimum cooking and eating utensils. The house said sleeps 6; the dining was for 2, the sitting area in the living room 3, the forks 2 small 2 regular. We had washer issues. But overall the placed worked for our purposes.
Look no further for a clean, updated, central location. This is it!
This was our first time in Alabama, but definitely not our last. This host was accommodating and quick to respond. This rental was as described and was clean smelling. Grand Bay, AL was very centrally located. We traveled to Biloxi, MS., NOLA, Pensacola, FL., Gulf Shores, AL., and Dauphin Island, AL. These were all day trips and very easily accessible. This was an amazing trip! I highly recommend these rentals. We will be booking again. Thanks for being great hosts.
we all enjoyed this property very well it was very clean and well kept w would defiantly stay here
check in was simple and quick and everything was so well kept inside and there was more then we expected it to have and it really wasn't to far from things. highly recommend.

Overall we had good time staying at Grand Bay property since it's closed to Dauphin Island and Battleship Memorial Park, our main destinations. However we just didn't get check-in instructions. So I was a little panicked - When we arrived, we didn't know how to get in. Also on May 31st when we came back to the property, we didn't have any WIFI at all. At that time the router did not work. I didn't bother to contact the property manager since we all had to go to sleep anyway. However we enjoyed our stay.
We enjoyed our stay at the property. We were there for a work trip so I spent the majority of the day in the townhouse while my husband went to his meetings. The only minor disappointment I had was that the kitchen ware all had to be washed prior to using (food left on plates, grease or grim, etc.) and lack of cookware. I had to go purchase a small set of pots and pans to be able to cook a full meal. Other than that the place was nicely decorated and felt very welcoming. If you need TV to go to sleep, bring a laptop as there are non upstairs. Really though, all of that is very minor details bc overall we really enjoyed our stay. Backyard is fenced, neighbors are mostly friendly and keep to themselves, WiFi was reliable and let me get my own personal work completed during the fray. Our pup was welcomed! If we ever need to return to the area or anywhere close to Bayou la Batre, we would ask the owners about availability before looking elsewhere.
Quiet, safe neighborhood. Perfect host! There were a lot of extras we didn’t expect. It was surprisingly thoughtful. The one downfall would be the bathrooms could use a little more TLC. The bathtub wouldn’t drain properly. But that is literally the only slight issue we had. We would definitely stay again.
My wife and our grandkids arrived after driving 7 hours from Texas and we did not receive a door code to get into the property and had to have VRBO contact the owner so we could get in. The air conditioner was not working and the place was not what the pics showed. The property had holes in the walls and the lights were flickering constantly and the place as well as the linens were not clean. We contacted VRBO and they contacted the owner and we sent pics and talked to the owner of the property about getting a full credit on our stay for the weekend.

Thanks Gordon. As you mentioned the AC unit had issues staying up with the Alabama heat. The temperature was 77, so the AC wasn’t entirely shut off, it just wasn’t getting cool enough. AC company came out today and replaced the filters and it’s fixed the issue.
As for check in instructions, the code to get in is clearly in your check in instructions in the app.
We have very strong historical reviews of this property. Your AC critique is accurate and we have fixed that problem, as far as anything else I’m confident future guests will agree with our other past guests that this is a great place to stay.
