We're excited to share Constellation Off-Grid with you! This has been a favorite place to escape, and want to share the space with fellow travelers! This is an off-grid experience with no electricity or showers on-site, but this booking includes access to the showers and the awesome pool, and cafe at the Terlingua Ranch Lodge.
We are only 20min to Big Bend/ Ghost Town, etc. 5 acres to roam and a lot of very cool rocks and adobe ruins. You can take some of the rocks, but please be respectful. It gets cold at night during March & sometime April so we provide an in-tent fireplace with fire extinguisher along with an outdoor fire pit and composting outhouse on site.
Due to lack of water in the area, it's tough to do laundry so we ask you to bring your own sheets, pillowcases and extra blankets if possible. We understand this isn't possible for everyone, so we do provide sheets, pillows/ pillowcase, and blankets in the event you aren't able to bring your own.

Had a great time glamping, gazing at the stars, no air pollution just didn’t like the long bumpy road to get there. Bed was comfy, moon was bright, view was great!

The night sky was awesome. It would have been nice to have campfire chairs. Also, batteries for the tent lanterns need to be checked.

Hi Michael. You can always feel free to bring the inside lounge chairs outdoors to the fire pit. We just request you bring them back inside.
Thank you for making us aware that the batteries are low. We'll have housekeeping swap them out!
My husband and I are backpackers but due to being 27 weeks pregnant we were looking for a place to stay that provided a little more comfort (aka a bed). We loved the idea of a yurt and Alex's property was the perfect place. The property is beautiful with great views in all directions.
This place was amazing! Very secluded and safe. The stargazing was phenomenal. The accommodations were beyond comfortable and cozy. Alex was very hospitable, answered questions promptly, and provided us with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. 10/10 would recommend to any friends or family wanting to visit Big Bend!
We chose to stay in the tent while attending the chili cookoff over the weekend.
The weather was wonderful and we really enjoyed being away from civilization. You don't know quiet solitude until you spend time out there and of course the stars at night are big and bright.... deep in the heart of TEXAS!
We loved staying in the glamping tent and will visit again! The instructions to get to the property were very clear (able to do it in the dark with a mid-size SUV easily). Host called the day before to make sure we would be able to communicate with them. Tent was spotless when we arrived and included a couple water bottles, first aid kit, and plenty of lighting. The firepit was great to have and there are a couple chairs inside the tent to use for sitting around it. Showers at Terlingua Ranch are 45 minutes away so recommend bringing wipes instead. The only thing not 100% clear from the listing is that there are two tents on the property so we had neighbors for a couple nights.

Alex was a phenomenal host. He responded promptly. His place is clean, remote, and beautiful. Sunrise, sunset, and midnight are beautiful in their own way! I have never seen the stars this clear. Geographically, it’s relatively close to Big Bend National park, which we hiked. The property requires a 15- 20 minute off road commute from the main road, but the path is suited for almost any vehicle. Overall, we felt very safe and taken care of, which helped us enjoy our trip to Big Bend. I totally recommend this place to anyone looking for a beautiful glamping experience!
An experience out of this world. The stars are amazing, the remoteness was epic and the tent was very nice.
The one thing that I did notice was the day before they had high winds which created a lot of dust. I have asthma and noticed that the dry air and dust can impact you if you’re not used to it.
The bed was comfortable and the outhouse was adorable.
Would stay here again, it would be great if there were a few more tents for larger groups.
The owner is awesome and easy to connect with once you have cell or WiFi coverage.
Very clean yurt. However, keep in mind you are very remote so keep an eye out for scorpions and be comfortable with evening strong winds. If there has not been inclement weather in the recent forecast, the drive should be OK however keep in mind that weather changes happen frequently. Was a very entertaining drive in a four-wheel-drive vehicle. Alex is wonderful and provided much useful information as far as directions to the campsite and local attractions. We stayed two nights, and decided to explore Marfa on the third night. One of the bungee cords snapped on the second day, making for a very loud experience due to the wind, rough night of sleep on the second night. The outhouse could not have been cuter or cleaner; expect an hour round-trip to the shower and the cost of the shower is two dollars per person. All in all, a worthwhile trip if you need to get away from it all.

Hi Sandy. Thank you for your review, yet I must say that I'm a bit confused.
Prior to your arrival I made sure you were aware that weather conditions were challenging due to some storms. You said that was perfectly fine. Since our cleaners couldn't make it to the property I drove 8 hrs to make sure it was clean for your arrival.
I sent 2 sets of very clear directions (1 from Study Butte & 1 from Alpine) and a GPS map link and you went the wrong way and then told me I gave you bad directions. Being a remote area and concerned about your experience, I drove 2hrs round trip to come back to make sure you made it to the property safely.
While at the pr, I spoke with you and your travel companion and advised about weather, and the importance of closing ALL ZIPPERS on the tent. Closing all sets of zippers keeps out "desert locals." As per your review, there was a scorpion... the only way scorpions get in is if a guest doesn't follow the rules. The zippers were left open when you checked out which allowed more of the Solifugae (not a scorpion) into the tent.
In summary, I really stressed the remote nature of the area, the storms, etc., prior to your arrival, but you assured me it was okay... that being said, a 3/5 rating (our first ever none 5 star rating) is incredibly low especially when most of the problems were caused due to the guest's lack of attention to details for following the property rules.
Safe travels and please be considerate of future hosts.
This was everything we wanted and more… off grind weekend! The host was amazing and gave very detailed instructions on how to get to the property(trust me you will need them) when we got to the property it was a breathtaking view and everything we wanted for a quick weekend getaway. We will definitely be back.
Alex was an awesome host! He is very communicative and the directions he give are soooo helpful (especially if you’re like us and decide to get there when its already dark out). The sight itself is amazing.
I'm originally from Texas and my partner from Canada - we've had the opportunity to explore overseas and so much of North America! During our travels we've stayed in charming "holes in the wall" to fantastic hotels and even thatched hut in the rainforest - it's these experiences that have made us want to share our desert hideaway with fellow travelers.
Why they chose this property
The Agua Fria side of Terlingua Ranch was captivating from the very first visit. The landscape is broken up by mesas and plateaus with rich earthen colors weaving through which creates the most incredible sunsets.
What makes this property unique
Perfect views of sunrise, sunset, and unubstructed views of the night sky. There is a truly enchanting feeling while watching the desert sun set on the mountains bordering the back side of Big Bend State park.
