Great base for exploring Southern Berkshires

Hosts were gracious. Digs were comfortable, uncluttered and tasteful. Many great hikes are a short car ride away and there is a delightful woodland walk (the "Railroad Ramble") a short walk away.

Lakeville Review

Lovely property and great owner! The only potential negative (not major) was that the bathroom was downstairs and bed/sitting room upstairs. Our stay was perfect!

Very responsive host

Before writing this review, I went back to re-read previous comments. What impressed me most is that the hosts have tried their best to remedy every guests request, such as adding a microwave, providing coffee, adding an iron and hair dryer, and improving the bathroom mirror. There is no space to add a washer/dryer, so no fault there, but the host did let me know that there was a clothes line on the building’s side and provided us with clothes pins. The place was very clean and extremely quiet. It’s setting is like being in the woods; great privacy. The only caution I’d have for guests considering booking this is that the stairs to the bedroom and graveled walkway from parking area to front door requires that guests carry their luggage. That wasn’t a problem for us, but might be for some guests.

Very comfortable and perfect for our weekend visit.

we were in for the weekend for a wedding. Everything we needed was there. There is now a microwave, iron and ironing board, blow dryer and even coffee. The bed was comfortable and plenty of blankets. Sheets and towels were also provided. The TV didn't get many stations but we weren't really there to watch tv. The area is great with plenty of nice pubs and restaurants and even a nice beach just 5minutes away. I would definitely stay again!! Thanks Bill!

Great spot

Beautiful little hut in a quiet area. Very close to the lake and restaurants. We stayed there with our 9 month old and it was just perfect.

A comfortable, clean and quiet place to stay.

My wife and I wanted a few days away in northwest Connecticut. Bill was great communicating and the place was nice and cozy. Quiet street and cabin back away from the house. Basic kitchen supplies made it easy to eat in when we wanted to. Thanks for a great experience!

It was perfect for what I needed this week!

I was in the area picking up a child from an area boarding school so I was in and out a number of times over the course of my stay. The accommodations were perfect for me. The guest house is a charming and clean, plenty of light, and I felt safe coming in at night alone. My only recommendation is a larger mirror in the bathroom - or one you can actually use to put on makeup, etc. The countertop space is wonderful, but because the mirror is pushed so far back, these old eyes couldn't see much! So happy this property was available for my stay - I hope to be back.

Nice Alternative to a Hotel

Cheerful and very spacious studio space. Comfortable for a couple with plenty of space for child on pullout futon. Kitchenette had stove top (no oven), toaster oven, sink and full-size fridge. Dishes and very basic cookware provided (no oven-proof dish for reheating/cooking in toaster oven). Very convenient for making breakfasts, coffee/tea and storing snacks. Tea provided. Would be nice if coffee and some basic spices included. Overall, nothing fancy or luxurious, but impeccably clean and much more space than what you would get at local inns like White Hart. Note that lawn and seating area pictured on site faces the small street and owner's house. Although set back, spacious and pleasant, this is not a backyard or private yard area. Overall, very good value, quiet and pleasant. Owner very responsive.

Exceeded My Expectations

If you're looking for a wonderful peaceful natural location to get away from the maddening world, this is it! I spent almost a week here the first week of July and didn't want to leave. The owners Bill and Joanna are welcoming gracious hosts and gave me great advice about restaurants and nearby activities. I enjoyed the Black Rabbit Grill so much I was in there almost every night for dinner. I had been looking at the photos and talking to the owner for quite awhile before deciding to book it and I am so glad I did! The internet photos are great, but the actual feel of the place once you arrive and settle in is so much better. I highly recommend it and I will certainly go back!

Lovely Getaway

The cozy guest house was the perfect size for a getaway for two. Clean and spacious quarters located minutes from the lake. Be sure to bring iron and hairdryer. Friendly owner who made us feel welcome right away. Really great restaurants close by, great hiking trails, and eclectic shops in Millerton and Kent. Down side to the area was that the lake fee is $10 per person per day, but the house rental rate for the week is a real bargain!

Beautiful location

Pleasant, immaculate, modern unit in lovely setting. Pleasant and friendly owner. A few inconveniences could be easily remedied: lack of microwave oven and hairdryer. Another cannot: bathroom is on a different level from bedroom. Still, highly recommended.

A great getaway...

A very cozy converted barn in the northeast corner of CT. Don't let the description of ""residential area" concern you. It's more like a lakeside community, very pastoral...country sounds will lull you to sleepin the evening. Beautiful lake is right near by as are numerous eateries ranging from your basic pizza joint to fine restaurants serving haute cuisine (and everthing in-between). The choices are further enhanced by the fact that you are literally minutes away from both New York state and Massachusetts. Great Antique shops and farm stands also dot the countryside. The accomodations themselves are extremely clean and the barn's conversion must have been very recent because everthing seems to be nearly new (except for the vintage / antique furniture). There's an ethernet connection in a mini office area that's located in the the spacious 2nd floor sleeping / living area. The only real downside is that there's no on-site facility for washing clothes. This can be a minor inconvenience, but only if you're staying for an extended period. On the plus side, there's a clean coin-op laundramat 5 minutes from the cabin. Last, but not least, the cost-per-week for the cabin rental is one of the greatest bargains in the tri- state area! Bill Geiger and family are gracious hosts who would leave generous gifts of fresh produce from their home garden during our stay. If you're looking for a getaway that's relaxing, not too far from home and an incredible bargain...you've come to the right place!
