Urraca Monkey Island was born from a passion for sustainability, nature conservation, and creating unique experiences. Originally from Montreal, Canada, I wanted to build a retreat where guests could disconnect from the rush of everyday life and reconnect with nature.

Hosting at Urraca is my way of sharing this stunning environment, while providing an eco-friendly, one-of-a-kind escape in the heart of Panama’s pristine Bocas del Toro archipelago.

My hope is that guests leave with a deeper appreciation for the delicate beauty of these ecosystems.

Located in the serene, vibrant Bocas del Toro archipelago, Urraca Monkey Island is in an area that captures the essence of Panama’s natural beauty.

This neighborhood is surrounded by turquoise waters, abundant marine life, and the rich culture of the Ngäbe indigenous community.

My favorite part is the peaceful isolation, allowing guests to enjoy complete immersion in nature. Here, the sunrise and sunsets are spectacular, and the proximity to hidden beaches, coral reefs, and mangroves makes it ideal for exploring.

What makes this property unique

Urraca Monkey Island stands out as an eco-friendly sanctuary, entirely powered by solar energy and built on stilts over the water.

The island is home to over a dozen monkeys rescued from the pet trade, creating a special experience for animal lovers.

The island’s overwater bungalows offer unique views and privacy, with a touch of luxury that blends seamlessly with the natural setting.

The bioluminescent waters surrounding the island at night add a touch of magic, creating unforgettable memories for each guest.
