About this property

Walking distance to the boardwalk, shops, and nightlife, restaraunts and more!

Villa Leonarda is a 5 bedroom villa

Thanks to its central location, you wont need to hire transportation once your in the villa, you will feel secluded, away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. However as soon as you walk out the door, you are right in the heart of town, within walking distance to the best restaurants, nightlife, stores, and activities in the bay!

Local hardwoods, adobe bricks and handcrafted tiles make up the organic structure of the house where period pieces of furniture alternate with artwork signed by renowned Mexican contemporary artists.

The Villa consists of two buildings with two bedrooms and two well-appointed bathrooms each, separated by the swimming-pool with heating system, and a spacious central patio surrounded by lush tropical, enhanced by the sound of the river rushing by. It is ideal for sunbaths and pool parties during the day, and candlelit dinners and cocktail parties at night.

A very historic home from the early days of Puerto Vallarta, designed in the traditional colonial style, with all rooms opening onto a huge central courtyard with heated pool, fountains and gardens that overlook river, mountain and jungle. Ocean views and sunsets can be enjoyed from the expansive rooftop terrace.

Architecture: Three foot thick stucco walls, arches, high ceilings, trestle doors, hacienda style wooden shutters, antique wrought iron and vintage hand made tiles are the distinctive design details of this century old master piece. The villa has been completely renovated in recent years; the bedrooms have air conditioning, kitchen and baths have been modernized - all while retaining the integrity of the original architecture.

Romantic bedrooms: The romantic bedrooms are hung with flowing muslin and mosquito netting; the decor is eclectic and chic. Antiques and unique period pieces are mixed with imported furnishings and original paintings by famous artists, all set against large palms and dramatic lighting. The ambiance at night is often described as “magical”.

Celebrities hangout: The original owner, Xavier de la Torre, was a famous clothing designer close friends with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Villa Leonarda was a celebrity hangout during the 1960s and the mystique lives on; it is still a gathering place for artists, writers, movie stars and intellectuals. Angelica Huston and brother, Danny Huston, have attended VIP cocktails hosted at the villa for the Puerto Vallarta Film Festival, following in the footsteps of their famous director father, who used to play poker with friends around the pool. Internationally acclaimed artist Alejandro Colunga and photographer Gabriel Figueroa, Jr. are also frequent guests at the villa.

* The 6th bedroom will be offered when there are over ten guests.

Terrible Management Reponse
Towards the end of our stay, there was a power outage at night. It was very hot and humid and we had toddlers with us. This issue went on for a second night. Food we had in the Fridge had to be tossed. Alma was a terrible liar blaming it on area issues when all the neighbors lights were working. We had to call them non stop to finally speak to someone. When Jeff got back to use he told us where to find the keeps to the breaker panel. We flipped it and it kepts turning off after several minutes. We refused to turn it on again when we noticed that it was hot. 2 Seperate electricians went on two seperate days. the first one just sprayed something on the panel. But neither Jeff or Alma were there. The second day, my Husband stayed to talk to him and again Neither Alma or Jeff were there. After that they were able to fix it the following day. Last time I spoke with Alma she is now stating a smaller amount than origianlly stated by Jeff via Text. Up to this day, they STILL havent refund us the money! Alma keeps telling me in 48 hrs and then keeps blaming Vrbo. Her and Jeff are not professional and just want to get you off the phone.

Well located villa for a group stay
The location and layout of the property worked well for our party of seven adults. Near a bank for pesos and a cigar bar for evening relaxation. The on-site daily staff spoke English well (one in particular) and the breakfasts were picture worthy. Evening dips in the private pool felt great after a day of exploring. The house had fabulous art or interesting furniture through out. My camera is full of shots of the place. I have to admit I was a bit leary of the outdoor kitchen but the staff provided a large container for food and all was good. Jeffery was a fantastic communicator answering questions quickly and booked vans from and then back to the airport. We are planning our next stay.
