The cottage had everything we needed. Fishing was good, and the canoe was fun. Nice lake, pretty quite. Screened in porch was very nice, overall would probably book again!

Thank you so much! Whenever you want to come again, please let me know.
This was our second visit to "The Great Escape" and was just as nice as the first. The lake is perfect for swimming and fishing and we took full advantage. Many thanks to our hosts for sharing their property.
The cottage is well maintained, beautiful property. Amenities such as water toys, games, videos were very much appreciated. We had an awesome, relaxing time. I would love to come back!

Thank you so much! Text me when you are thinking of coming back.
Loved this cottage. Very homey and comfortable. Check in and out was seamless. Amenities were perfect. Kitchen super well stocked. There were 7 of us so lots of room for all. Lake was very pretty and quiet. Swimming was great. Would definitely re-book for next year.

Thank you Laurie. I am glad you all enjoyed our great escape.
We enjoyed our stay. The weather was warm and did alot of fishing. Kids really liked staying upstairs in the loft. My only complaint is that this cottage needs a major clean. There is no way this cottage is cleaned regularly, some much needed updates in the washroom starting with the heat register.
The Host was very Helpful when we called and he also was helpful when I asked for Friday check in, instead of Saturday. As it was my Daughter's Wedding on the Saturday.

Lots to love about this cottage. Great location, private, nice road for walks, beautiful view.
Only complaint would be the cleanliness - found a lot of mice droppings throughout the kitchen and bathroom. Overall, kitchen cupboards could have used a good cleaning.
Great location and very accessible, private, quiet cottage with excellent frontage on East Moore Lake. The property was as described, though showing small signs of wear and tear. We agree with the person who pointed out the unusual and formidable cleaning chart (which the guests before us seem to have ignored). Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay.

Thank you James, we do take your recommendations seriously and will make the necessary changes. We feel our place is updated for a cottage and try out very best to make sure everyone is happy.
Nice property on a lake I'm very familiar with. Deep weed-free swimming off the end of the dock, just what I love. The deck is a good size, with an up-to-date barbecue and good furniture. The exposure (SSW?) gives the dock area sun most of the day, and the cottage deck once it gets over the trees. While this property checked a lot of boxes, there are a few issues which will prevent us from returning.-The stairs going up to the loft aren't the safest. There's just the wall to use for support, no handrail. -The futons in the living room are uncomfortable, especially for sleeping.-The overall cleanliness in the kitchen was a concern. The coffee maker was disgusting, the kettles were in bad need of descaling, cutlery, plates and glasses had to be closely scrutinized before use. Not a lot of storage for dry goods, and only one working electrical outlook that we could find. Mice made a visit twice to the kitchen while we slept. There are electronic pest repellers in use around the cottage, but I question if they are effective.-We were aware fully aware of the stairs going down to the lake, and truthfully, they weren’t that bad. Just bring everything you want down with you, and make a trip to the bathroom before going down! All in all it was a nice getaway, just unsuited to our group of mainly 50-plussers. We all agreed this cottage was best suited to a family with children. Thank you Paul for your prompt responses and friendliness.
Cottage was dirty, did not appear to have been cleaned from previous guest. Beds were stained. several bars of random soap laying in the shower. Owner charged us $75 for missing glassware which he later admitted that he found (still has not reimbursed me). He also accused of putting burn marks on the dining room table. We did not use the dining room table for meals - we used the outside table. I would not recommend this cottage to anyone. Beware of the extra charges the owner may add to your bill by falsely accusing you of things you didn’t do.

Disaster - filthy cottage
When we opened the door, there was an overwhelming smell of mustiness. We thought it's a cottage, we can open the windows. However we discovered all the windows were left open from the last guests. We took our shoes off when we entered and were grossed out by the filth of the floors. There was an alarming amount of mouse droppings on the counters. I checked the bed for bed bugs, which I do at every hotel. The mattress cover was covered in numerous blood smears and bed bug shell casings. We left immediately.
The owner has strict cleaning rules, but it's clear, there is no professional cleaning between guests. There was a note left by the last occupants, it was still there as no one had been by to check on the cottage.
The owner responded quickly, gave us an immediate refund and apologized, however our weekend was ruined.

It is too bad that some people don't really comprehend what exactly is happening. An exterminator was called and this renter's statement was proven to be inaccurate and false. There was no bed bugs. I did respond immediately to her request for a refund, and I did apologize, although there was a mouse, there was no other vermin. Would I recommend this person to any home/cottage owner? Probably not, unless you need the personal stress. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their stay all summer. I guess bad apples are out there.
We wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy some time relaxing. This was the perfect cottage to do just that. Ample room for sleeping. Quiet lake perfect for fishing and canoe/kayaking. Close enough to town to get supplies. Friendly chipmunks to greet you. Played some horseshoes and cards every day. Used the bar-b-que for two meals and the rest done indoors easily. Remember to bring your own linens, towels and tea towels. Everything else you need is there. Big bonus: pet friendly. Owner was friendly and courteous with great response times. I would go again.
We were very happy with the property, and had an excellent weekend. My only concern is that the system of guests leaving cleaning supplies sometimes doesn't work, and so we had to make an emergency run to town for dish soap. I would rather pay slightly more per night for the absolute essentials to be provided.
What an awesome vacation! The lake was perfect for swimming and fishing...hundreds of jumps off the dock and hundreds of fish reeled in. Our stay was in August, so it was hot but there were a sufficient number of fans provided so sleeping was comfortable. An unexpected bonus was the trampoline...my son loved it! As other reviewers have pointed out, I would have preferred to pay a cleaning fee to assure the cottage was clean when we arrived. While the cottage wasn't filthy, calling it "clean" would be a bit of a stretch. However, in general this was a great vacation destination and would return.
We enjoyed the coziness, great views and perfect location of this property. Perfect for the get-away (including dogs) we were looking for. The only negative was the lock box was very difficult to open on entering (could be frozen)?
Had a great stay at this cottage, the view of the lake is amazing and the cottage very comfortable. We loved the sun-room and sitting on the landing by the dock. thanks for a great time
The place is as pictured; Rusty but has everything you need. We love the set up of it, very cosy.
You really pay for the view and the lake. I’m very particular about lakes because sometimes they will show the water but won’t show how there’s so many weeds. This lake is amazing! So peaceful and so clean. We spent most our days on the dock, and when we’re not swimming, we stay at the patio to play cards and dominos.
Our family definitely enjoyed it and would definitely check it on out on winter.
Thank you Francesca❤️
