Everything Key West has to offer @ Mango Cottage

This historic Conch house is an excellent vacation home which has been thoughtfully remodeled to provide the best in modern comfort, while carefully preserving the home's historic Key West architecture. There are antique Dade County pine walls and floors throughout the cottage. The open-concept kitchen, living room, and dining area have fantastic 12 foot sliding glass doors, which create abundant natural light under a high vaulted ceiling and provide seamless indoor/outdoor living, incorporating the beautiful salt water heated pool and deck area, making it the perfect place to enjoy your Key West vacation. The kitchen offers stainless appliances and granite countertops with a large white enameled farmers sink, garbage disposal, dishwasher, microwave, full oven/stove, and side by side refrigerator/freezer with crushed ice and water through the door. There is a commercial grade
washer/dryer nestled under a granite counter just beyond the kitchen which allows you to pack light and still enjoy an extended stay in Key West. Central air-conditioning is a luxury enjoyed in only the best historic rentals, including Mango Cottage.

There is custom high end wood cabinetry featured throughout the home. The kitchen has painted white maple cabinets with glass doors. The bedrooms and master bath contain beautiful mahogany built in cabinets which lend a Caribbean feel to the cottage. Stylish furnishings and artwork add to the tropical feel of the home, including a wonderful collection of antique swimsuits in custom shadow boxes.
The master bedroom has a king bed with an en suite bathroom. The second bedroom has a queen bed and is adjacent to a second full bath via a private hall. There is a great sleeping loft open to the common room below which is accessed by funky alternating ship ladder stairs, custom-made as well. The loft has two twin extra long beds with storage drawers beneath. The loft and both bedrooms have top-of-the-line Simmons AirCool ComfortPedic memory foam
mattresses.

There are TVs in each bedroom (and loft) and there is an additional 42" TV in the living room. All TVs come with streaming services, including Netflix, Hulu, Max (formerly HBO) and YouTube TV.
The fully remodeled bathrooms boast custom tile work. Pebble floors beneath your feet in both showers remind you that you are living on a tropical island. This fantastic home is located on Varela Street in a wonderful residential neighborhood just a couple blocks from Fausto’s Food Palace, a local Key West grocery store. It is an easy walk to
some of the island’s finest dining, including Seven Fish, a Key West landmark. Mango Cottage is centrally located, only a 0.6 mile walk to Duval Street, but the residential nature of the neighborhood keeps things quiet and invites you to live like a local.

Bicycles are a great way to see the island. There are bike racks in the front area of the property behind the white picket fence which lines the sidewalk, with room for four bicycles to be safely
stored and locked.

Outdoor living is perhaps the best part of Key West life. The private outdoor area is enclosed by pretty white wooden fences, and the property contains numerous tall palm trees and other tropical plantings which add to privacy and the peaceful tropical vibe of Mango Cottage.

This home boasts a private heated saltwater pool which has stairs leading to the 3 foot deep shallow end, growing to 5 feet at the deepest end. There is a bench seat incorporated in the pool for lounging, and wonderful stepping stones that pass by beautiful tropical flowers along the pool’s edge. The outdoor patio offers outdoor dining for six with a teak table with sling chairs under the shade of a 9 foot cantilever umbrella, as well as two comfortable lounge chairs nestled between palm trees for working on your Key West tan.

Rocking chairs on the front porch invite you to enjoy early-morning cafe con leche from nearby Sandy’s Cuban Cafe while perusing the local newspaper or just enjoying the peace and quiet of
the neighborhood. There is a grill area near the outdoor dining table and a newly built private outdoor shower. The fully enclosed 4 x 5 foot shower has hot and cold running water and lighting that allows for late
nite use. Outdoor Edison string lights along the perimeter of the property let you enjoy the tropical Key West nights, and lend a festive feeling to the outdoor space.

*There are alternating ship ladder stairs to the loft with twin beds (please see the accompanying photo above) which are not suitable for small children and people who cannot climb ladders. Mango Cottage may not be appropriate for parties who have guests that have difficulty accessing the loft space.*
