About this property
Desert Villa Oasis - Gateway to the Eastern Sierras, Death Valley, and Yosemite
Newly remodeled 3 Bedroom, 2 Bath, home, updated front and private backyard. Quiet Neighborhood to enjoy life's pleasures and relaxing and soaking up the sun and fresh air.
International and Domestic Vacationers' Welcomed! Eastern Sierras Mojave Dessert Villa is
available as a vacation rental. This is a 3-bedroom 2-bath villa with premium décor and comfort.
There is a lot this little Oasis has to offer. This is the gateway to see the beautiful Eastern
Sierras on Highway 395. From Ridgecrest, Kernville, Lake Isabella up to Yosemite
Nation Park. Mono County offers access to Yosemite’s eastern entrance – and less crowed side
– via the impressive Tioga Pass Road/SR 120 West. While U.S. Highway 395 (a state-
designated Scenic Byway) is open year around, Tioga Pass Road/SR 120 West is closed for the
winter months, usually from early November to late May.
Whether you are here to do work with China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station or if you enjoy
riding off road vehicles in the desert, this is the place to visit.
Ridgecrest is a city in Kern County, California, United States, along U.S. Route 395 in the Indian
Wells Valley in northeastern Kern County, adjacent to the Naval Air Weapons Station China
Lake. Come to Ridgecrest, the gateway to the Eastern Sierras where you will find Sequoia
National Forest (U.S. Forest Service, Lake Isabella Station), and the Kern River which offers
river raft rides and beautiful scenery. Highway 395 will also take you to Death Valley, Lone Pine
where many famous westerns were filmed in the Alabama Hills. From there you can take a
beautiful hike up to Whitney Portals that is only minutes away from Lone Pine. Death Valley
National Park is a below-sea-level basin, steady drought and record summer heat make Death
Valley a land of extremes. Yet, each extreme has a striking contrast. Towering peaks are
frosted with winter snow. Rare rainstorms bring vast fields of wildflowers. Lush oases harbor
tiny fish and refuge for wildlife and humans. Despite its morbid name, a great diversity of life
thrives in Death Valley.
Other places to explore. From the highest mountain in the lower U.S., Mount Whitney to the
Eastern entrance to Yosemite National Park, this side of the Sierra is truly remarkable. Two
major ski areas, the hauntingly beautiful Mono Lake Tufa State Natural Reserve, the world-class

About the host
Hosted by Jean
I grew up at China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station, and this is a home my father had built for us. I enjoyed growing up in Ridgecrest and love the views of the Eastern Sierras. I write about the area because I really love the mountains and love travelling up Hwy 395 to Lone Pine, Whitney Portals, and Mammoth Lakes. I hope you will enjoy it too.
