Five stars! This home is beautiful, clean, and packed with character. The hillside views are stunning, and the hot tub was the perfect bonus. Carla is a fantastic host—very responsive when we needed help. A perfect, relaxing getaway. We’ll be back!
There aren’t enough wonderful adjectives to describe this home. The property was beautiful and peaceful. The inside of the home was clean, welcoming, comfortable, and simply amazing. Not to mention, the fresh bread left by the host when we arrived. I would stay here again, even if I didn’t have plans to do anything in the area except relax.
Did not use the hot tub but house incredibly nice, perfectly clean, had everything we needed. Enjoyed the huge yard, beautiful view and firepit area. Beds very comfortable. We decided we could go other direction to Dry Ridge- this is a long, curvy road that takes much longer than Waze says!!! But beautiful country to see.
From the fresh baked pumpkin bread to the toiletries…this was truly a home away from home. We enjoyed visiting 3 states while we stayed here. Host was very prompt in answering any questions we had. Looking forward to our next visit.
Top notch attention to details and many homey extras. While some places I’ve rented feel very much like a business transaction, this felt like I’d gone to visit cousin Carla. After days at the Ark encounter and creation museum we made dinner and sat around a fire while enjoying fabulous views. While this property is a little off the highway and required a bit of a drive to the museums, it was a great find for our family to converge on. This is a working cattle farm and we even came home with 25 lbs of their beef!
Had the best experience with our host Carla. She was very helpful and answered very promptly. The house was absolutely beautiful and couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
We absolutely loved staying here! Everything about it was perfect. It was the most beautiful view and plenty of room for our ten family members. The beds were super comfortable and the host was so nice. Would highly recommend this. An easy drive to the Ark Encounter and Creation museum.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Ross house! Not only beautifully decorated, but very accommodating to all our needs. Kitchen well stocked with anything to help provide an at home meal, including homegrown packs of beef Incase you were without. Also, a pantry available with the staples. The hot tub and sunroom were an absolute hit and an incredible view for morning coffee or afternoon reading. We loved using the fire pit for s'mores. Every room in the home was very cozy to enjoy any kind of relaxation or company. I loved your great selection of books in the front room! The beds were all incredibly comfortable and our 2 families , totalling 9 people, had plenty of space to feel comfortable. Although we didn't use it, the availability to have indoor parking is spectacular. Thank you for sharing your home and your story with us! We hope to be back again!
What a peaceful view! We loved the rolling hills and the cows on the hillside. House was very well appointed, and host responded quickly. This was a great respite after a busy day touring the ark and creation museum.
My first time booking with VRBO and it was a great experience. This propert is gorgeous and very spacious. We arrived early and was able to get in. They thought of everything you could possibly need and put it in the home. I would recommend this property to everyone. Owner responded to all my questions prior to going.
This is a very well maintained beautiful home. We enjoyed our visit so much. Everything is clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked. The view is breathtaking. The cookies were delicious! Thank you for your hospitality!
We had a great time at this cozy house. We can’t wait to go back.

What makes this property unique
The Ross Family: A Legacy of Agriculture and Community From Brooker Bowen to Arnold and Jo Ross L.E. (Brooker) Bowen, affectionately known as Grandpa, embarked on his journey in the farm implement business in 1927 in Gardenersville, signing a contract with International Harvester. Brooker and his wife Thelma had three daughters: Sue, Jo, and Jane. Just a couple of miles east of Gardnersville on Highway 491, John and Hazel Ross cultivated a small farm and raised a family of six children. From an early age, John and Hazel’s middle son, Arnold, knew he would marry Jo Bowen. True to his childhood conviction, Arnold and Jo were married in April 1956. Following their nuptials, they moved to Annapolis, Maryland, during Arnold’s service in the Navy. After fulfilling his duty in the Navy, Arnold, Jo, and their firstborn daughter Kim returned to Gardnersville. Arnold joined his father-in-law Brooker in the implement business and they had three more children: Matt, Brad and Mark. The year 1969 marked a significant milestone as Arnold and Jo purchased the implement business from Brooker. The Ross family made their home in and around the dealership, as well as on a small cattle farm. Construction of their home began in 1973 and was completed in 1975 when the family of six moved in. Building the house was a collaborative effort for the Ross family. The boys recall spending afternoons after school hauling rocks from the creek for the fireplace and stone wall. The stone mason, an 82-year-old craftsman, relied on the boys as his "muscle" to lift rocks, mix mortar, and hoisting ‘ole Ben on the scaffolding. In 2018, the Ross family sold the implement business but continued in the cattle business operating this farm and others around the county. The enduring dedication to farming is a tribute to Arnold and Jo Ross’s legacy. Today, their home serves as a welcoming haven for visitors from across the country, embodying the spirit and heritage of the Ross family.
