Private Cozy Garden Studio Retreat - Near Downtown, Gardens & Forest Park
Welcome to our cozy garden studio, a renovated garage conversion attached to our 1940s home in a quiet Portland neighborhood. The studio has its own private entrance and offers a simple, comfortable, and well-equipped home base for exploring the city and surrounding nature.
The space includes a queen bed, full kitchen with a 4-burner gas stove and oven, full refrigerator and freezer, Keurig coffee maker, and everything needed for cooking, including pots, pans, blender, waffle iron, and basic baking essentials. It’s set up for guests who want the option to cook and stay in comfortably.
You’ll also have a dining area, Smart TV, fast Wi-Fi, a gas fireplace/heater for cooler months, and a window air conditioning unit for summer. The studio has polished concrete floors, which are durable, easy to clean, and help keep the space comfortable year-round.
The bathroom is compact and functional. Because the studio shares one wall with our home, occasional light household sounds may be heard at times, especially near the bathroom area. Most guests find the space quiet and restful.
Outside, guests are welcome to enjoy the shared backyard space. We also use the yard, and it remains a calm, residential outdoor area to relax in.
The location is just 10 minutes from downtown Portland and close to the International Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, Hoyt Arboretum, Forest Park, and the Oregon Zoo. The Columbia River Gorge and Oregon Coast are both easy day trips.
This studio is best suited for travelers looking for a clean, practical, and well-located space with a full kitchen and a relaxed, residential setting.

This was the perfect place for my husband and I to be able to go and visit my Mother in Law. It was very quiet and clean and had all the amenities that we needed.
The Abode was exactly what I needed for a week-long work trip! Clean & inviting, with a very effective gas furnace for the colder months :) and great communication from the Host!
This was a PERFECT experience. I housesit full-time and had a client that needed to come home early and I needed to find a cozy spot to regroup and rest. It was hard not to admire that thought that went into creating a space with everything needed for a couple of nights. Perfect kitchen, with great appliances, a spacious bathroom with EXCELLENT water pressure - I'm definitely keeping this place in mind for another stay.

Thank you for the very kind words, you were a great renter!
Loved this little place! The host thought of everything including French press coffee, air conditioning and a fully appointed kitchen. The location was perfect and centrally located for everything I had scheduled in the Westside and Downtown Portland. The neighborhood is quiet and quaint. I’ll book here again!
Beautiful neighborhood, great location & very responsive host. The space is a renovated garage, entry on the side of the house. Window unit AC, full kitchen (no microwave) and standard bathroom (shower is on the smaller side). The host was flexible and responded quickly to any communication. Super quiet area and nice, private back patio.

Thank you Mia for the kind review. It was a pleasure hosting you and your daughter!
The room smelled musty and the heater did not work properly. The heater remote was broken. We had to unplug the unit to get the temperature to go down. On a positive note, the neighborhood was great, the kitchen was great and the property owner was very helpful and friendly. She responded quickly when needed something.

Disliked: Communication, listing accuracy
I could not stay here due to the musty smell, which was masked by an air freshener plug-in. I could hear the property manager talking clearly through the thin walls. There was a constant dropping sound every 10 seconds above the bathroom all night. The owner's TV was very loud, which also made it hard to sleep. The "kitchen" had very little of anything. There was no toaster, tea kettle, sauce pans, or microwave. To me, this is not a "kitchen." The floor was uneven cement with the bed posts sticking out, so I hurt my toe several times. I only stayed one night, which was one too many. I had to find another place to stay, which took up time that I could have spent with my grandchildren. I messaged the owner a few times, and her response was "sorry" with no offer to help me. I want a refund for this property. I've used VRBO for years and have never had an experience like this.

We're sorry the studio didn't meet your expectations. Our listing, photos, and amenities are intended to accurately represent the space, including that it is a renovated garage conversion attached to our home.
When you contacted us during your stay, we offered to remove the air freshener, address the TV noise, and provide additional kitchen items. The studio is equipped with a full-size stove and oven, full refrigerator, cookware, dishes, utensils, blender, waffle iron, and coffee maker. While a microwave, toaster, and tea kettle are not provided, they are not advertised as amenities.
We understand that every traveler has different expectations, and while we're disappointed your experience didn't match yours, we're confident our listing accurately reflects the accommodations that so many guests have enjoyed.
We had a great stay at this apartment in Portland. It was in a nice neighborhood, and my wife and I felt very safe the whole time. The place was comfortable, clean, and a great value for the price. It wasn’t fancy, but it was a nice place to stay and met our needs well. We’d happily stay here again.I especially appreciated the location, since I have friends and relatives who live nearby. It was also very convenient with easy access to Sunset Highway and the Beaverton area.
