About this property

Riverside Hideaway: Peaceful Forest Cabin with Private River & Red Rock Views

Riverside Hideaway is one of those rare places that instantly slows your pulse. Nestled along a bend in the East Verde River and tucked beneath the red cliffs of the Tonto National Forest, this 4-bedroom, 3-bath cabin invites you to unplug, explore, and soak in the beauty of a backyard river all your own.

Grab a chair, wade into the shallows, and sip something cold while your toes touch the current. Let the kids splash in the natural pools, or simply lose track of time under the pines. At night, gather around the fire pit for s’mores and stargazing—or cozy up indoors by the fireplace with a board game and a glass of wine.

Whether you're escaping the Phoenix heat (it’s about 25° cooler up here) or chasing forest adventures, Riverside Hideaway offers the perfect mix of comfort, quiet, and natural wonder.

WHAT YOU’LL LOVE:
• Private riverfront setting with shallow wading and splash pools
• Backs to red rock cliffs and the Tonto National Forest
• 25° cooler than Phoenix—perfect summer escape
• Cozy living spaces with fireplace and room for games or movie nights
• Great basecamp for hiking, off-roading, fishing, and lakes
• Blackstone grill for outdoor cooking under the trees
• 4 bedrooms—ideal for two families or a couples’ weekend
• Almost an acre of pine forest to explore
• Fly fishing right from the backyard

Rustic, relaxed, and wrapped in nature. Here, you wake to the sound of water, unwind without schedules, and reconnect with the people you love—and with yourself.

WHAT GUESTS ARE SAYING:

Thanksgiving Getaway

The pictures don’t do this place justice. One of the most beautiful locations for a cabin. The checking in and out process was simple, all amenities provided, and best hiking trails.

Our recent stay was far from ideal. The property felt in constant disrepair, with clutter and unfinished projects scattered around the yard. Inside, the air was stale, heavy with spiderwebs, a clear sign of neglected cleaning. While new windows offered modernity, everything else, from decor to appliances, felt stuck in the mid-1900s.The river, though directly accessible, was extremely low and muddy, rendering it unusable for recreation. This made the "riverfront" appeal pointless, forcing us to drive elsewhere. While river levels are uncontrollable, the overall property condition and river state didn't justify the cost. The AC situation was a major frustration. The listing advertised AC, but it was two upstairs window units and two noisy portable downstairs units. We constantly moved these loud units, sacrificing comfort in some areas. They required window vents, meaning windows remained unlocked at night- a security concern. There were no instructions, forcing us to waste time figuring them out. The listing has since been updated to reflect AC correctly.Other inconveniences included a small oven and a baffling array of unlabeled remotes and switches, making basic operation a constant struggle. On the few positive notes, the bedding and pillows were comfortable, and the game and toy selection for kids were great. We were greeted with flowers and a condolence card upon arrival. But these minor comforts couldn't outweigh the overwhelming issues with the property.

Birthday Trip in the Mountains

I booked this trip for me and a few friends to celebrate my 40th! When we arrived I felt relieved we had picked the right spot! Super cute. We arrived at night and the instructions were great at helping us find the cabin. As soon as we got off we heard the sound of the creek which sounds like a river and it is literally part of the backyard. We even got to walk right up to it which I couldn’t tell if you could from the photos. Inside was bigger than I thought and we loved the den with fireplace and huge elk head! Really made it feel like a mountain retreat! We had a couple cozy nights there. Heater worked great. Rooms were spacious and we loved spending time there. The location turned out to be great to be able to visit both Pine and Strawberry only about 30 min away. I’m so glad we got a place in Payson as when we got to Strawberry(higher elevation) I got elevation sickness. When we got back to Payson I was completely fine. We were originally looking in Strawberry for a cabin so I’m so glad we ended up going with Payson. Payson is a cute small town but big enough with the amenities you need. Recommend going to Buffalo Burger in Payson, Tonto Bridge, Old Country Inn Pizza and Lavender Farm in Pine and the Pie Bar in Strawberry!!
